Mac is a loving and loyal 12 year old, 16 pound Chihuahua.  He is a little bit shy at first but in his foster's home Mac has blossomed into a relaxed and loving companion.  Mac will pick one person to be "his person", and really does prefer women. Macaroni walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and is doing very well with his house training and will use pee pads. He appreciates having a comfy safe spot of his very own to retreat for reflection and a good nap.  At night, he is expert at burrowing under the covers to sleep at your feet.  Mac is good with other friendly dogs, and respectful of the foster's dog-tolerant cat.  He would do best in a female household without small children or lots of visitors.  Mac travels in a car okay, but he would not be a good long-distance or airplane traveler.  Macaroni loves a good cuddle on the couch, knows how to be a good companion without going over the top, and would be a good friend for life! Macaroni is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccines. Mac is on medications to prevent seizures which is required three times daily according to schedule. His adoption fee is $200. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Pops is a loving, little chihuahua gentleman with long legs and an adorable underbite. He is well behaved, quiet, and potty trained if he goes outside on a schedule. He is 11 years old and weighs 12 pounds. Pops loves to eat snacks, to snuggle in his dog bed, to sit in the sun, to go on walks and to be petted.  Pops was found on the beach in Coronado, scared and skinny, and brought to a shelter by a kind person. He was very scared, and the shelter staff kept him in the office. He settled in quickly at his foster home, at first just exhausted and hungry. He has gained 2 pounds and is gaining strength and confidence.  He enjoys meeting new people and seeks out pets and treats. He currently does not want to be separated from his foster parent. He will bark (quietly) if left alone, but he will do best with a pet parent he can go to most places with. He does not need a stroller, but he travels in one happily to go to a restaurant or to the boardwalk or somewhere he might otherwise be scared. He is currently walking 2-6 blocks several times per day. At his foster home he is very quiet in a noisy environment. Pops has been very welcoming to doggie visitors in the home. He is more scared of other dogs outside but making lots of progress. He is fine in any situation if he is picked up. He would be fine as the only dog or part of the pack. Pops needs love and patience and gentle support to help him gain back weight and muscle strength and help restore his confidence. He will still sometimes flinch at a touch or be scared by a sudden or loud noise. He feels safe being in a crate and sleeps there at night. Pops is a brave little dog with a gentle disposition. Please apply to meet Pops! He is such a sweetheart and deserves a loving home. He is neutered, micro-chipped and up to date on all vaccinations.  His adoption fee is $200.  All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. I'm a delightful 2.5-year-old chihuahua mix, weighing in at a petite 11 pounds. If you're seeking a loyal sidekick who'll always be by your side, I'm your gal! While I may be a tad shy when meeting new humans, give me a moment and my warm, loving nature will shine through. I love playing with other pups, and you'll hardly ever hear me bark, making me a peaceful companion. I'm proud to say I'm crate-trained, though snuggling up next to you at bedtime is my preferred spot. I'm mastering the art of potty training, and thanks to the doggie door at my foster home, I'm making leaps and bounds! My wish list? Toys, yummy treats, and endless affection. I'm also a great listener and am learning some basic commands to impress my future family. Could you be the one to offer me a loving forever home? I promise to fill it with joy and love. P.S. I come spayed, microchipped, all up-to-date on vaccines, and with a one-time adoption fee of $300. Let's find out if we're a match made in doggie heaven! In her foster home Dayze enjoys bedtime where she is permitted to dive under the blankets to snuggle close.  Dayze loves her soft squeaky toys and will carry them around the house.  She is currently living with another dog which has helped Dayze to build confidence.  Dayze would do best with someone who works from home.  She tends to howl loudly when crated however she is not destructive and a perfect little lady when not crated.  Dayze rarely barks at home and quickly quiets down when told. She needs someone who is caring and patient to work through her shyness.    Dayze had quite the adventure before arriving at her current foster home. She is easily startled with a strong instinct to run when frightened, making her a flight  risk .  Dayze’s new owner will need to be diligent to keep her safe by using a martingale collar and firmly holding her leash.  Dayze should never be off leash in an open environment and always tethered when driving in a car.   Dayze loves to go for walks and is working on leash walking. She will need more practice when approached by other dogs.  Dayze is potty trained.   If interested in adopting this amazing little dog, introductions will be coordinated with the current foster. Overall, Dayze is so worth the effort to get to know and build her trust.  She is a sweet girl who is easy to fall in love with and she will love you back.  She is spayed, microchipped and is current with her vaccinations.  Her adoption fee is $300. Story
Meet Minnie!  She was seen being tossed from a vehicle in a rural part of the county.  No one could find her and assumed her dead in an area thick with predators (owls, coyotes and cats of all sizes).  Days later she popped up, frightened and ran if anyone approached.  After reports of repeated sightings she was humanely trapped and her new life began.  No owner came claim to her so she went to foster where she decompressed and started to learn about love.  She was under a year old and clearly knew little of human touch or kindness.  After several months she learned to trust, walk on leash, bond and love.  Due to foster circumstances her time there had to terminate and she has continued her journey on site at the rescue facility.  After a year she tugs the heart strings of all volunteers with her sad dopey eyes, desperate need to love and be safe.  She loves. her "normal".  She is always eager to go on her walks and does great with those she can trust.  She struggles with new people but is eager to please, treat motivated and warms up quickly if you go slow and let her lead.  She wants to snuggle.  Pillows are her favorite spot in bed.  She wants to be your shadow.  Despite her fear of people she is happy to go on adventures and enjoys her time in the company of those that make her feel safe.  She can be around dogs but does not share so can't live with other pets because she guards her stuff and people with animals (NOT people).  She has the little dog complex and no fear when taking on an animal challenge, which for sure is how she survived her time amidst the wilderness.  She continues to work on her world bravery with pack walks and outings but has done her time and is due for her home.  She has recurring cherry eye on both sides.  One has already been addressed surgically but came back.  Vet recommendation is to leave it alone if surgery did not cure and it presents no discomfort or irritation.  It comes and goes and does not bother her.  Vet's words were it looks worse to us than it feels to her.  Can you be patient, love unconditionally, have no expectations other than a deep soul connection?  If so, this girl is for you. Flight Risk: do not leave unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures. Must be aware of open doors and windows.  Can NEVER be offleash in unfenced areas for life.To adopt: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/37765/genericTo foster: https://petstablished.com/foster_form/37764/genericEmail: awayhomefordogs@gmail.com ##1318876##

Story
Looking for someone that will be able to give him the time and attention that he deserves. I have a busy schedule and I don’t dedicate enough time as I would like to anymore. I try to walk him every other day but otherwise he spends most of his time alone while I go to work and now I am moving further away from my work so I will have even less time available. Hoping to find someone that is okay with having him indoors sometimes but also outside. He can be a little anxious sometimes if left outside alone. He likes to be inside if he knows you’re home even if it’s just to sit next to you while you watch a movie. He is super energetic and loves to be around you. He does get a little protective of his home though, so constantly having new visitors is not ideal. He enjoys getting snacks and treats throughout the day. And loves jumping when he’s playing around with you.

Story
Looking to find a forever home for this beautiful 8-month-old purebred Pomeranian Cookie. Has all vaccines & dewormed but yet to be spayed, which is a pre-requisite. Cookie loves all dogs but gravitates towards other small dogs her size for playtime. She loves car rides, morning cuddles, belly rubs, is potty trained to go to door, knows basic commands. However, Cookie does not like kids & takes her time to warm up to people but once she does, she has your heart fully. I prefer an experienced dog owner or someone willing to learn this breed. I want her to have a full life not just be a house dog, stroller/backpack puppy. She is young & full of energy so that would not work. Ideally looking for someone with another young small dog she can play with but also get them both out. You must be committed & able to care for her financially for the duration of her life, which could up to 15-20 years. I will require an application & home visit as a start. Text me at 619-871-5120
