Story
Even if you don't like candy, you will love Snickers! Snickers is a 2-year-old cutie who is as sweet as can be. She is at the perfect age where she still has the energy to play, but also could spend all afternoon lounging on the couch with her favorite people. She is past the crazy puppy phase and is a gentle girl ready for her fur-ever family. Snickers weighs 14lbs. Snickers was found as a stray with a puppy in Woodland and was brought to the Yolo County Animal Shelter. The puppy was assumed to be hers and was quickly adopted. Being on the shy side, Snickers was overlooked by adopters at the shelter so we decided to make her a YCSPCA dog and she has been thriving in her foster home ever since. Snickers can be shy when meeting new people, but she has come to learn that new people mean tasty treats and she gets braver every day. She seems to be particularly cautious of men, so needs a home with at least one woman for her to bond to. Once you become Snickers's friend, she will become your little shadow that will follow you wherever you go always eager for some attention. She also loves to play and will frequently raid the toy basket for the best toys. Snickers loves other dogs and has become BFFs with the black lab in her foster home. We think she would do best in a home with another playful dog to help build her confidence. Snickers currently lives with cats and could do well in a forever home with dog-savvy cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Due to her shy personality, Snickers would do best in a home with kids 14 years old or older. Snickers has been doing great with her housetraining, but will occasionally still have accidents. Her new family will need to be patient with her while she is learning and be okay with some accidents until she has settled into her new routine. Snickers sleeps through the night in bed with her foster parents. Snickers has done well being left alone with the other dogs in the home but may need some time to acclimate to being home alone if she is the only dog in the home. Snickers can be nervous in new environments and can try and escape when anxious. Due to this, she is not a good fit to live in an apartment and needs a secure yard and a family that will be vigilant about keeping her safe until she settles in. Snickers is such a darling girl who is going to make the best companion for the perfect family. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Snickers's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/  Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. April 22, 2024, 10:47 pm

Story
Peanut is the pocket-sized cutie that will win your heart! Peanut is about 3-4 months old and is a little bundle of fun. She is always on the go and is a happy-go-lucky girl eager for her fur-ever home. She is the perfect petite size to curl up on your lap and would be an ideal companion for someone who likes to bring their dog with them wherever they go. Peanut currently weighs 5.5lbs and will likely be under 15lbs when fully grown. Peanut came to us from the Yolo County Animal Shelter. She was surrendered to the shelter after supposedly being attacked by another dog and was in rough shape when she came to us. She was hospitalized for a few days due to dehydration and GI issues. After returning to her foster home, she bounced right back and has been thriving ever since. Peanut is a smart girl who loves to learn. She is still learning all her basic manners, so she needs a family dedicated to continuing her training and socialization. Despite her small size, she is an active girl, so she needs a family who can keep up with her busy body. She has been a great working-from-home buddy for her foster parents and will often nap on their laps during meetings and then will want to play fetch during breaks in their work schedules. Peanut is a chewer and needs a family who will be diligent about making sure she doesn't eat anything she shouldn't and provide her with appropriate items to chew. Peanut loves other dogs and has become friends with the other small dogs in her foster home. We think she would do best with another small, playful dog in her new home. Due to her playful nature, she would likely have too much energy for an older dog. We have not seen Peanut around cats, but she could do well with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Due to her size, Peanut would do best in a home with kids at least 10 years or older. Peanut has been doing very well with her housetraining using a dog door, but is still learning and needs a family that will be patient with her and expect some accidents. Peanut sleeps through the night in bed with her foster parents. Peanut has been doing well being left alone with her dog buddies for short periods but will need time to acclimate to being home alone in a new environment. She would do best with a family that has a flexible schedule that will allow her to slowly get comfortable being home alone. Peanut is such a sweet little girl and will make a family the luckiest people around. If you think that just might be you, submit an adoption application today!     Peanut's adoption fee is $450.     Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. Story
Toofan(A685573) is an energetic Chihuahua who loves to play fetch with us. He loves running around in the grass with our Chihuahua. Tennis ball is his favorite toy just have a treat in hand and he will be the best furbuddy to play fetch with. He may be skinny but his energy levels are more than you think. He is also a fast runner. We take him out for a walk 3 times a day. We haven’t had any potty accidents at home but we did encounter a few pee accidents. We have taken Toofan on car drives and he loves looking outside the window at the passing cars but sometimes he does get super excited. Toofan is a medium to high energy. He take naps throughout the day so he can be ready to rock and roll. I hope Toofan finds a home where he is loved and cared for.

Story
Marty is the sweetest boy in town! He’s a chihuahua mix and he is about 1 years old. He grew up on the street around other animals and then was suddenly hit by a box truck in early April. He tumbled and rolled three times. Luckily, shelter staff happened to be at the scene and immediately brought Marty in. After being in the shelter for a few weeks he was fostered by a potential owner. This person loves Marty very much! Marty loves going on walks and is learning to be leash trained. He’s docile with other dogs and does extremely well with dogs of all sizes and breeds, except rottweilers. Truly, Marty made friends with EVERY dog on EVERY walk except the rotties. He is very social and loves stopping and saying hi to other doggos on walks. Marty is truly the sweetest most loveable dog. He’s high energy, is trainable, loves shredded chicken, and is looking for his forever home. His foster parent has cats and Marty unfortunately didn`t get along with them. Marty would be best placed with a family with other dogs and/or toddler-teen kids. He would do great with another doggie sibling!!Health Notes --Marty has one eye and has depth perception trouble, so he needs to be picked up going up or down the stairs-Marty has separation anxiety and would do good with anxiety relief/calming dog chews Please consider rescuing Marty! He is the sweetest boy, a survivor, and he’s aching to be settled into his furever home
