Meet Sheldon 🕺Sheldon is a 13yr old, 6lb, Chihuahua. You may say Sheldon is old, but you would never know, except he does sleep a lot. Sheldon loves his people, and believe it or not he loves to play. Sheldon is blind, but that doesn’t bother him and he learns his area quickly. Sheldon will lay on his back and loves to “wrestle”. Sheldon loves his belly rubbed,he gets so excited, it usually ends up being gentle wrestle play. Sheldon does sleep a lot, I call it power naps for his next play session. If you are looking for an older dog with still some play in him Sheldon is your guy. Sheldon loves to be held, and would make a great travel buddy since he really doesn’t care what’s going on around him as long as he is with his people. Sheldon is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and up to date on his rabies vaccine.

Meet Buddy the Elf - the cutest little sidekick around! Buddy is estimated to be 3 years old, and he is an adorable little man with a heart full of love. He is a cheerful guy who loves cuddles, playtime, and tasty treats. He is always wagging his tail and is happy to join along for whatever the day brings. Buddy weighs about 9lbs. Buddy was found as a stray and found himself at a Central California animal shelter. We were rescuing another pup from the shelter he was at, and were happy to have him tag along and join the rescue, too. He has been thriving in foster care and has been charming us all with his affectionate personality. Like his namesake, Buddy loves to socialize and is quick to make new friends, both human and dog. He loves to stroll around downtown Davis with his foster mom and is a great little walking buddy. Buddy is also a total lap dog and is happy to stay cozy with you on the couch on cold nights. He will get bursts of puppy energy and loves to play with his toys and the resident dog in his foster home. He is a moderate-energy pup who would be a wonderful companion for a first-time dog owner. Buddy has done great living with a larger dog and could be a great friend for a pup wanting a brother. He also probably wouldn't mind being the center of attention as the only dog. We haven't seen Buddy around cats, but we suspect that he would do well living with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction. Buddy could be a great addition to a family with kids 10 years and older. Buddy has been doing great with his house and crate training. He is content to hang out in his crate during the work day and sleeps in there overnight, although he would be more than happy to cuddle in bed with you if you let him. Buddy could do well living in an apartment with proper daily exercise. Buddy is such a wonderful little guy, and he can't wait to find his fur-ever family! The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. Cash is a 6 year old male, 20 lbs, house trained sweet dog. I adopted Cash when he was 4 months from Hop Along Adoption. Due to severe allergies, I need to rehome Cash. He’s friendly with some dogs, I can’t gauge why some and not others. He’ll usually act aggressive, sniff around, and then he wants to play. Cash doesn’t do well with small children. Their movements are too quick and unpredictable. He’s a little skittish for a dog who has never been abused.

While she's a calm, mature gal (est. 7 years old) she happily dances at meal time and wakes up with smiles and gallops to greet each day. She's learned to go in her crate on command and responds well to gentle 'ah ah's. Lady Bug is timid around strangers - she barks and growls -but just needs a few minutes to get to know them and then is all wags. Cold morning temperatures make her shiver, so she would enjoy living somewhere hot where she could sun bathe. Not a super barky little girl; however, she feels it is her duty to let the mailman know he offends her by being in her eyesight. Lady Bug has learned to get along with the big labrador she currently lives with. At the dog park, she interacted with little dogs well and appeared to want to play. She has seen cats, but does not have much interest in them. Lady Bug has not been tested with kids but, because she is so small, gentle children over 10 would be bestLady Bug came to us as a stray and it's evident from her behavior of needing to be close to her person, she would benefit from confidence building.
