Story
Daisy was born in 2015 and is 10 years old. She is a chiweenie (chihuahua & dachshund) and is a super sweet dog once you get to know her. She does have a little stranger danger but will eventually come around and play. She is very loyal to her owners and will snuggle in your lap with you if you let her. She is crate trained and potty trained. She does not have any accidents in the home. She is energetic and loves being outside to run around. She would enjoy walking freely outside in someone’s yard with a fence but also does great walking on a leash too. We have 2 young kids and she plays well with both kids. She has never bitten any of us or any stranger. She is a sweet dog that needs someone that is home more to give her the attention she needs. 🩷

Story
Meet Griff Griff (brown and white) is a 10 lb. cutie patootie. We pulled this tiny Chihuahua and his brother Liam from a high kill shelter. The staff there had fallen in love with these two pups and asked us to pull them so they could find loving homes. The boys are 3.5 years old and have always been together. They were bottled fed as young pups and were adopted by their caretaker. We’d like to adopt them together as they have never known life without the other. They are definitely better together. The boys are a little shy, but once they feel safe they quickly warm up and look for the nearest lap to snuggle into. Griff follows Liam around and does what his brother does. So cute. Griff (and Liam) are well-mannered and quiet. They are pad trained and have always lived inside. They like other dogs and do fine with cats. They walk nicely on a leash and travel well. The boys would love a quiet home where they can bond with their people. Given how small they are, they’d probably do best in a home without young kids but could certainly be around young kids if supervised. These two brothers are easy going and will make for wonderful companions. They are fully vetted and neutered. If interested in welcoming Griff and his brother Liam to your heart and home, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) or call our shelter at 706-865-4135 and leave a message to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Fancy! Fancy is a 10-year-old chihuahua ready for her final home in which to retire. Fancy was surrendered by a loving owner who was diagnosed with cancer and unable to care for her anymore. Fancy is an independent, spunky Chi with lots of life left in her! Fancy knows who she is and walks into a room with confidence (after taking some time to settle in). She isn't going to let something as silly as "age" stop her from doing what she wants. Fancy is the happiest girl who loves a belly rub, head pat, and tail-wag. Fancy is also ready for a nap whenever you are. Sleep is her most favorite thing (except maybe breakfast...and dinner). Fancy would do best in a home with older children and would do well with other dogs or as an only dog! Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

Story
Meet Porter! Porter is a 10-year-old Chihuahua mix with a heart full of love and a true appreciation for the simple things in life — like snuggles and cozy naps. He’s the definition of a lap dog and would happily spend his days being held and doted on. This gentle, low-energy guy is well-mannered and seems to be crate trained, as he keeps his kennel clean. Porter gets along well with other dogs but would really thrive in a calm, quiet home where he can relax and enjoy a peaceful routine. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who just wants to be by your side, Porter is your guy! Porter currently weighs about 5lbs., is approximately 10 years old (est. birth date 11/04/2015), and his adoption fee is $185. Porter has been neutered, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. If you want to know more about Porter, please complete a survey at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you within 72 hours to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet. You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt.
