She was obviously loved as she came with a pink leather-like collar and leash, a fluffy pink blanket, and a plush pink-ish dog bed. She definitely has chihuahua in her, probably some Jack Russell Terrier and maybe some gazelle as she has long legs and bounds effortlessly. She prefers to be by your side and loves to get snuggles and tummy rubs. Leah Lady is a 12-year-old 14lb Terrier mix. Leah Lady is very sassy and alpha and doesn’t act her age. She’s timid and skittish when meeting new people and needs time to warm up. But what a love once she’s comfortable. She is house-trained in her foster home and does well in her crate. Her hearing is excellent, and she is a barker. In the yard, she runs around barking at birds and any neighbor or their dog that happens to appear. She also barks at Thunder!! Lady can not live in an apartment or condo. The lady appears to have had little socialization and enjoys her new experiences, especially walking. Younger children make her nervous. She does better with teens, but it takes time. She would do fine as an only dog. She’s very affectionate, and it’s all about her. I have two other dogs, and she wants a lot of attention. Lady loves toys but doesn’t like to share, and neither does my other foster, so unfortunately, there are no toys. She doesn’t resource guard with me but apparently will with another dog. She may be okay with another dog, depending on its disposition. She likes my other dog, and there are no issues with it, but he’s 14. Lady is blind in her left eye from a large cataract. She sees well out of her right eye, though there is also a smaller cataract in the left eye. The pressure in the left eye will need to be monitored. She also had a mammary tumor removed with her spay. It was cancerous, but the margins were clear, and her chest X-ray was good. This will also need to be monitored. The frequency should be every 6 to 12 months, depending on the adopter's vet’s best practice. My name is Ginger Bella. I’m a 9-year-old female long-haired Chihuahua, and I weigh just under 7 pounds. Like many Chihuahuas, I love burrowing under covers and snuggling in blankets. Before I came to Angels Among Us, I lived with an older couple, and my whole world revolved around my person—the husband. We didn’t see many other people, and I wasn’t around other animals. It was very sad when my person had to move into assisted living and couldn’t take me with him. I ended up in a shelter before Angels rescued me. That was a very happy day! I had to adjust to a new home with more than two people and two other dogs. It took me a few weeks, but I eventually realized they were kind and that I liked being there. We take walks every evening, and I’m getting very good on a leash. We also spend a lot of time in the fenced backyard. I’ve discovered that I like sunbathing on the deck, rolling in the grass, and meeting new people. It felt a little daunting at first, but now it’s not scary at all—it just means more people to pet me and tell me what a pretty girl I am. I’m not scared at the vet’s office anymore, and I even cooperate for the groomer. I do have some medical conditions that require lifelong medication. I have a heart murmur and congestive heart failure. Fluid can build up around my heart and lungs, making me cough if I don’t take my medicine. I’m pretty good about taking my pills when they’re hidden in a tasty treat. Most of the time, you’d think I’m just a normal dog doing normal dog things. My foster mom says I can have a “Chihuahua attitude” sometimes. I don’t like being startled when I’m sleeping, and I’m not a fan of taking pills, which is why my foster mom hides them in treats. She thinks I don’t know they’re in there. I do—but the treats are just too tempting not to gobble up.
