Story
Bruce Barrow is a 6-year-old, 11.5 pound, small mixed breed (maybe Min Pin - Chihuahua - terrier?) whose soft spirit makes him impossible not to love. He came to AAU rescue a bit underweight, and should fill out to around 14 pounds with steady meals and kindness.   Shy at first meeting, Bruce is the kind of dog who watches the world carefully before deciding it’s safe. Give him a little time, and his whole demeanor transforms. Once he trusts you, he becomes sweet, gentle, and oh-so-affectionate. Pick him up, and he just melts right into your arms like he’s been waiting his whole life for a person to hold him close.   Bruce Barrow would thrive in a calm, patient home that understands the magic of slow introductions and soft encouragement. He doesn’t need loud or busy - he just needs someone who will let him blossom at his own pace.   If you’re looking for a tender-hearted companion, who will reward your kindness with deep, loyal love,  Bruce Barrow is ready to meet you. An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions. Story
This is one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make, because this dog has been our best friend and loyal companion for the past five years. He is truly a loving, devoted dog who just wants to be close to his people. He absolutely loves cozying up with you at night, following you from room to room, and being by your side whenever he can. Walks are one of his favorite parts of the day, and he lights up when it’s time to play fetch; especially if his beloved ice cream cone toy is involved. He thrives on affection and will happily soak up praise, especially when he’s told he’s the best dog ever (which he absolutely is). We are rehoming him due to challenges adjusting to life with our new baby. This decision comes from a place of love and wanting what’s best for him. He deserves a home where he can feel relaxed, secure, and be someone’s number one companion again. He has so much love to give and will make an incredible best friend to the right person.

Story
Leah Lady is a 12-year-old 14lb Terrier mix. Leah Lady is very sassy and alpha and doesn’t act her age. She’s timid and skittish when meeting new people and needs time to warm up. But what a love once she’s comfortable. She is house-trained in her foster home and does well in her crate. Her hearing is excellent, and she is a barker. In the yard, she runs around barking at birds and any neighbor or their dog that happens to appear. She also barks at Thunder!! Lady can not live in an apartment or condo.  The lady appears to have had little socialization and enjoys her new experiences, especially walking. Younger children make her nervous. She does better with teens, but it takes time.  She would do fine as an only dog. She’s very affectionate, and it’s all about her. I have two other dogs, and she wants a lot of attention. Lady loves toys but doesn’t like to share, and neither does my other foster, so unfortunately, there are no toys. She doesn’t resource guard with me but apparently will with another dog. She may be okay with another dog, depending on its disposition. She likes my other dog, and there are no issues with it, but he’s 14.  Lady is blind in her left eye from a large cataract. She sees well out of her right eye, though there is also a smaller cataract in the left eye. The pressure in the left eye will need to be monitored. She also had a mammary tumor removed with her spay. It was cancerous, but the margins were clear, and her chest X-ray was good. This will also need to be monitored. The frequency should be every 6 to 12 months, depending on the adopter's vet’s best practice.   An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions. Story
Sriracha Picante, what an awkward name! This little adorable fellow got it in the shelter: he used to bark at people approaching his cage where he was kept for two whole months, so he was considered "a little spicy". But everyone admitted that after the loud greetings, he becomes everyone's best friend. And so he is- cute, smart and loving. At the foster home, we call him Garrick. He is a joy for us and our dogs both. Garrik is a 2-year-old Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix weighing about 12 pounds Check out his white-and-chocolate coat and nose! Also, his funny white whiskers that curl around his muzzle! He has a delicate yet athletic build, and a bright, intelligent expression that matches his lively personality. Neutered, house-trained, and crate trained, Garrik is a well-mannered and adaptable companion. Garrik is quick, agile, and playful, with a strong love for running and exploring. He enjoys walks, does well on a leash, and willingly goes into his crate on his own at bedtime. He is gentle by nature and affectionate with his people, happily curling up as a lap dog when invited. He doesn't play favorites, or rather, everyone is his favorite once he gets to know them. Garrik loves other dogs and has proven to be an excellent playmate, even with our own dogs, who are typically selective. Garrik is currently cautious with unfamiliar people at first, so his adopter should be comfortable managing introductions, attempts to bark during walks and allowing him time to build trust. With consistency and reassurance, his confidence around strangers has already shown great improvement and is expected to continue. He walks with us over a mile on a leash every day and even goes on camping trips! We feel that the only reason for the current  behaviour is lack of exposure.   His ideal home would be one where someone is home much of the day and where he has another friendly dog for companionship and play. A securely fenced backyard would be a great fit for Garrik, giving him a safe space to run-because he is very active. He is a loving, clever dog who thrives with routine, reassurance, and connection. Story
Mitch is a 3 year old, 26 lbs pomeranian mix who is house broken and does not chew on belongings. We adopted Mitch 3 months ago from a shelter. He came to us with kennel cough which quickly turned to pneumonia. Mitch was at the vet for 2 weeks. But he pulled through and was given a clean bill of health. After Mitchs health returned it became clear that Mitch most likely faced abuse at his previous home and has aggression issues as a result. He loves to play fetch and tug of war. He loves to go on walks and car rides. He loves treats and want to be near you at all times. However, he seems to have triggers that have resulted in bite incidents. Mitch gets very nervous at night. Especially if there are loud noises. He does not like to be picked up. And does much better with men than with women. The crate appears to be a very big trigger for Mitch as well. We have been working with a trainer and a vet. Mitch would do well in a single male home that could give him time and patience.
