We had to google her name to find out how to pronounce it, and perhaps to see what it means. One of the things we found out is that Dusse is a cognac. Perhaps she was named after that? It is pronounced...DooSay. And she knows her name, it is pretty, and it suits her. She could be a smooth cognac, if that was your thing. She is pretty mellow and certainly has a relaxing vibe. Well, most of the time. For those of you that have loved a Chihuahua before, you know they can also be Barney Fife nervous and trembly. (ok you youngsters...google Barney Fife.) Dusse has those little nervous trembles and worried looks, but once she settles in for her snuggles, she settles down and feels safe. Dusse is just 3 years old, and a very tiny SIX pounds. She could use a little bit of weight, she seems a little thin, being at the shelter was tough on this sensitive little girl. She was given up by her family when they had landlord issues. She seems to have been very much loved, despite her initial nervousness she has been very gentle and sweet. She is quite the little snuggler, and could use a person/family that will help her feel safe again. She is so tiny that we do not think a home with small children will be best. A peaceful adult home with someone around most of the time would be perfect. Dusse is working on her housebreaking, she is doing much better with frequent potty breaks. She does not understand the concept of potty pads at his point, so a little patience is needed. Dusse is a darling little girl looking for that special, gentle and loving home. She can be so loving, happy and wiggly once she settles in. It is rough being in the shelter/rescue situation for such a sensitive soul. Dusse is waiting for her very special person! Meet sweet Vivian...or as her friends call her, Vivi!! The name suits her, Vivi has tons of VVVVVVVVRROOOOM!! She is just 9 months old and we think she is part Chihuahua and part Jack Russel Terrier. As a home that has loved JRT's and adore their personalities, Vivi fits the bill. She has the look as well, a nice little JRT face with perhaps more of the Chi size. She is just a petite 10 pounds. Vivi was at a very large and busy shelter, where she was very well taken care of, but she was a bit overwhelmed with all the hustle and bustle. She was not settling in well and certainly not letting her little sunshine of a personality light up. Happens so often, it is just a tough environment and really hard to get a good read on who this little dog really is. So, she came out to us and joined our crew, and boy, did she shine! The first moments she was very cautious, but she checked us out and we passed the sniff test, lol. Vivi is great with the other dogs but has made Joey, another foster dog( a young maltipoo) her best pal. The two of them LOVE to zoom around the yard and play tag. Although Vivi can be a very active dog, she is also a world class snuggler. If there is a lap to be had, she will claim it as her own. Vivi has been doing great with her housebreaking, we do take very frequent breaks outside and her new family will need to continue to reinforce her training. Vivi will do best in an active home, a fenced yard with another active dog would be great. She is shy meeting new people, so she could use some patience and understanding that she is not going to warm up right away, she can be a little cautious. We think she will be fine with older kids, no little ones at this time. She is a wonderful little dog and will be lucky person/family's best pal!! Her adoption fee is $400. Sweet MAEVE is proof that learning to be loved after so many years and disappointments can take a bit. We are not out of the woods but we are getting close! Maeve means "the cause of great joy" and I am hoping that she will be someone's greatest joy til the end of her days. Also, her pure joy still shines through even after people have let her down so horribly. We are waiting on blood work. She does have a heart murmur (not unusual in an older dog). She has gained some much needed weight and best of all.....she was released for a BATH. I love giving a foster the first bath in rescue. You can see the calm and change as their old life is washed away making room for a fresh new start. Maeve enjoyed the warm water and the oatmeal shampoo. She is now snoring on her bed! More to come!
