****When responding please use our application at sparrowdogs.com, or tell us about yourself,(family, home, yard/fence, other pets, work hours..) Thanks! You will never meet a sweeter little fella, and considering Doby is a Chihuahua, that says a lot!! For those of you familiar with Chihuahua's, you know they can be feisty little buggers, lol. Such is not the case with Doby, he would rather spend his day with his favorite person, snuggling on the couch is a true luxury. His best buddy in his foster home is the husband(he thinks he is a king, go figure). With football season coming, who doesn't need a little pal to cheer on the BEARS(Ok...or your favorite team...) and he is great about sharing some snacks and does not mind the crumb patrol at all. Doby had a family for a number of months, but as their baby became a toddler they realized that Doby was not a fan of small children. He trembled when the little guy got near and grabbed(who can blame him) and nipped a couple of times. Doby is little, we get it, he was thinking he was defending himself. For that reason we are looking for an adult only household. Doby is looking for an extra special home, one that will love him and accept him just the way he is. We have no idea why he has a pattern of hair loss on his body. Perhaps it was due to a previous injury? We just do not know, but he has some tufts of longer hair, then smooth skin area's. Ironically, his back looks just like Hulk Hogan's mustache, now how about that, one in a million I say. Doby also has a significant heart murmur. He is still a spunky guy and is not on any meds or will not require treatment. He will just live out his life with his condition and hopefully live it to the fullest with the right family. If you are looking for that extra special little guy to love and adore, someone that will return the favor and make you the hero in his world, then Doby is your guy. He is just adorable, irresistible and his sweet little face will just melt your heart!! We are looking for that very special person/family. His adoption fee is $125. Doby is 8 years old and about 8 pounds. Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
Meet Whiskey, a male chihuahua pup who is around 6 months old and weighs about 7 lbs. He is being fostered with his sister Daisy but is looking for his very own forever family. Whiskey & Daisy are super cute puppies with lots of energy and very needy with people. They love their humans. They want to be as close to you as possible and prefer to be in the same room as you. They will cry if left unattended or try their best to get to you. They are great with dogs and cats. They love to play with balls, chew on bones and chase each other around the yard. They still need help with using the pee pads and going outside and they hate collars and leashes so we do need to have their new families have a fenced in. yard.  *They will not be adopted together, please apply for only one* Kids and visiting grandkids 10 or older only please  If you are interested in adopting/meeting , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $500 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed!   *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 26, 2024, 7:02 pm

Story
Angel alert! Lainey is a 2-year-old Long-haired Chihuahua mix. She weighs just 8-pounds, and she's sooo incredibly soft with the most beautiful markings. Lainey was said to be fearful upon meeting new people. But, she warms up to women very quickly. She's a huge snuggle bug, who gets along well with other small dogs. She absolutely hated/was terrified of the veterinarian. But, we don't know if that's due to his being a male, or just because he's the vet. Lol! Give this girl a chance, and you will never be lonely again. She's seriously such a good dog! She is crate and potty trained, good on a leash, in the car, and for sure in a lap. Please, no young children. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog Her minimum adoption donation amount is $325. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt. Please have your veterinarian and two non-family reference phone numbers ready. The app makes you start all over if you leave the page to look up numbers. Story
Skip! Skippity doodah is a 12-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix. Skip's dad sadly away. Now Skip is hoping someone will give him a new home. He is truly adorable, timid but sweet, and loves to give kisses once he knows you. Skip is good on a leash, fine in a crate, quiet in the car, and would be okay with other laid back dogs. But, young kids and really rambunctious dogs would be too much for him. Skip likes to cuddle, but is willing to play too. He's the perfect balance of fun and calm. Skip is now our longest resident, and we aren't sure why. :,( He decided to advocate for himself with these words: "Hey you! My name's Skip. But you can call me Skipper because I'm in need of a first mate. I'm a fair weather skipper so I like naps and rolling in the yard when it's sunny and warm, but limit my time outside if it's rainy or cold. I can be a big sweetheart. So, If you want to put me in your lap I'll give you plenty of kisses and I always appreciate a snuggly nap. Dog beds are a MUST, so make sure those are always available... a skipper needs his beauty rest. I'm really good in a crate and am happy to nap in there too. As much as I love to nap, I also REALLY love to go on walks! Like any skipper, I have a few quirks. I'm nervous around strangers (who isn't??). Things that shouldn't scare me make me jump (doors closing or stepping on crackly leaves). Things that SHOULD scare me I ignore (Roomba's, moving vehicles, lawnmowers). All that to say, I know once you meet me you will look past any of my quirks. Now be an obedient first mate, and use those big paws to fill out an application and come work for me... your trustworthy Skipper. Sound like a match for you? Then, please apply: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $245. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state.
