Story
Bandit is a very loving, sweet dog. He is playful, especially likes to play fetch. All vet needs are up to date. He loves to curl up on your lap for a nap. His previous owner could no longer care for him. Bandit is housebroken and does great as long as you offer lots of breaks and notice his cues of needing to go outdoors. Local hot Indy) adoption only It takes him a while to warm up to new people. Bandit has some very chihuahua behaviors, he loves "his" person and will keep others away by doing a dance around the feet of the stranger and he "might" take a nip at the ankle. It's not representative of Bandit's overall super sweet and enjoyable personality. He likes to get up by your face and lay his head on you and then takes his paw and pats you on the face. It’s darling, and almost cat-like. If you’re looking for a great companion, Bandit would be great for you. Bandit just had his teeth cleaned at the vet and he is current on flea and heartworm meds as well as routine vaccines. He's not a big eater, he does like treats, and he is crate trained. He is fine with other friendly dogs. Bandit's adoption fee is $375 and he's ready for adoption now. Fostered by sphil

Story
Moose came to the Rescue as an owner surrender. He is a sweetie who is friendly to people he doesn’t know, though he does take a minute to warm up. He’s mostly housebroken if you let him out often enough. He’s not a fan of being in a crate but will tolerate being in one for short periods of time. When Moose is happy to see his person, he will bring his toys that he plays with at times. Like most Chihuahuas, Moose is independent and wants things his way. Moose had a neuter, a dental, and his left eye was removed, which means he is happier with no longer needing that eye to be cleaned and medicated. These procedures were done in mid April and Moose is healing well. Moose is ready to go to an approved forever home! SP 4/7/25

Story
Feta Cheese was surrendered, along with his sibling Gouda, to the Muncie Animal Control shelter. Gouda got adopted, but Feta didn't. He did not do well in the shelter environment, so he came to Chihuahua Rescue. Although he was neutered in Muncie, Feta's shots were not brought up to date; we fixed that. Feta's crate training has insured his potty training! You just need to put him in a crate when he will not be supervised. He's not thrilled to go into his crate, but if you toss a small treat in there, he will go right in. He LOVES going for long walks on a leash or doing zoomies in a securely fenced backyard. He is very interested in wildlife, especially squirrels, mice, rabbits and toads. Unfortunately, he's pretty hard on them. When he's frightened, Feta can be a bit snappy so his adopter will need to go slowly in establishing a relationship with him. Once he trusts you, which happens fairly quickly, Feta's warm and snuggly. Feta is a smart dog, and he needs to be kept busy. He will find something to entertain himself if you don't provide it. He completed Beginning Obedience Class at PetSmart in December 2023; he needs continued practice to be sure he retains and improves on his lessons. In the meantime, approved chew toys for "aggressive chewers" are must (he will come with his current black Kong). While he's not a fan of big dogs, Feta gets on well with the other 5 small dogs at his foster's house, except he is concerned about his bowl at feeding time. Eating in his crate keeps that issue under control. Feta hasn't been tested with cats or children yet but should do well with older kids who can take the time to get to know him. Thanks to a donated DNA test we now know that Feta Cheese is Chihuahua 35.0%, Shih Tzu 33.6%, American Pit Bull Terrier 9.6%, Pekingese 7.8%, Boston Terrier 7.2%, Beagle 3.6%, Bloodhound 3.4% which all adds up to 100% All-American Dog!! Hi, my name is Little One, but my foster family has been calling me Little Man. I'm such a character and love playing with my foster family's kids. I really love the smaller kids for some reason and want to follow them around all the time. I'm great with other dogs and everyone I've met since I moved in, I have liked as well. I would prefer to come into a family that has another dog, or you could just adopt my mom, Wee Wee too. Please reach out I promise you won't feel bad about meeting me.

Story
Hello! My name is Baloo, and I am a spunky and silky soft cuddly chihuahua/terrier mix. I love exploring outdoors and chasing small critters (I’m great for pest control!). I’m extremely smart and love puzzles. I am in constant search for cuddles. I take some time to warm up to strangers and don’t like to be picked up, but once I’m comfortable I’ll be a permanent couch buddy (all of my previous pet sitters referred to me as a cuddly angel). I’m crate trained, housebroken, and highly food motivated. I do have anxiety- quick movements, especially when I’m asleep trigger me, so I am safer in a house with no kids. I take medication for the anxiety and am still learning not to growl when startled or around other dogs/people on walks. I am looking for a calm house with someone who can be patient with me as I learn to adjust. I promise to provide lots of love, laughter, and cuddles in return!

Story
Sugar is a very sweet boy who recently lost his owner to old age. He may take some time to warm up to you, but once he does, he will be your friend for life. Sugar is considered special needs because he is deaf. He is good at reading signals. He enjoys playing with his bone when we toss it for him and plays tug with a rope. He likes to lay on his pillow and be close to his person. Sugar is a wonderful traveler; he sleeps the entire time and enjoys the ride. Please consider accepting Sugar into your home and giving him the love he deserves.
