Story
Taffeta & Chiffon go together like apple pie & ice cream! These two are sisters from different litters; they came from a hoarder who had over 60 dogs in the home. Taffeta has the lighter colored face and is 1 1/2 years old; Chiffon has the darker face and is about 1 year old. The girls are a mix of about 5 breeds ... chihuahua/jack russell is what we will list but those round ears are definitely corgi like! And there may be a smidge of dachshund in them as well. Taffeta & Chiffon are just a hoot!!! They are constantly wrestling & rolling around & tearing around the house in games of chase. When they tire of these antics, they are the absolute best snuggle bugs ever! They wrap themselves up around your neck and cuddle in as close to you as they can get. They give the softest, gentlest kisses as well! The girls are still lacking in socialization with people and will bark at strangers; they will need patience and calm training in order to learn that newcomers are not a threat. For this reason, they would not do well in homes with children 16 and under. Taffeta & Chiffon will also need a very secure fenced in yard in which they expend some of their energy. With their fear issues, walking daily on leashes would be too much for them at this point. Chiffon has a "cherry eye" which is scheduled to be removed at the same time as her spay on October 20th. We are only placing the pair with local adopters so that we can assist with integration and socialization for the girls. The adoption fee for the pair is $400; they will be spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and current on heartworm/flea preventative. (Indianapolis area)

Story
Theo is a Chihuahua-mix, estimated at 9 years old. He had a really rough life before coming to Misty Eyes, but is a very loving and snuggly guy. He weighs in at 8 lbs. Theo was pretty bare on intake from fleas, but his fur is growing in really well. He came to Misty Eyes with 3 teeth, but they were infected, so those were pulled. He is now toothless, so is on a canned food diet. He does make a nasal sound sometimes, but that is due to his teeth eating away at his nasal cavity. Despite all of that, and being deaf, he is a happy little guy who loves to snuggle on the couch and burrow with his human at night. He has a new-found love, chasing and playing with balls and can play for hours! Theo is ready to live his best life now! He is the perfect lap dog! He lives with other small dogs in his foster home and does well, but is not a good fit with cats. If you`d like to meet Theo, please submit an adoption application online at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication.

Story
Jazzy is a sweet little 7 year old, 8 lb., short-haired Chihuahua who was surrendered to a very overcrowded, high-kill shelter. Misty Eyes brought her into foster care to save her life. She is living in a foster home and is doing very well with the other dogs and is mildly curious about the cat. She`s not a yappy little girl and is friendly to visitors, although shy at first. She has decent potty habits as long as she is able to have potty breaks on a regular basis. Typical of her breed, Jazzy will become very attached to her person, but remains friendly with others. She`s a little nervous of loud noises and commotion, which is also fairly typical. She`s definitely a lap dog and a cuddler. If you`d like to meet Jazzy, please submit an adoption application online at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication.

Story
Meet Remy Pasqual! He is believed to be a 4-year-old Jack Russell Chihuahua blend. Never enough love can ever be too much. Remy needs his happiness forever. He's been with me for 3 years and yes he had major behavior issues but that's no longer who he is. He lives to be touched by everyone, loved, good with dogs and cats, and ok as an only dog too. He is active love being active outdoors chills indoors, enjoys swimming hiking trails adventures boat rides, and has been canoeing and loved it. He is amazingly easy-trained and exceptionally off-leash trained. Lives agility and car rides. Yeah, he's a bit clingy but people enjoy this. Can guard his humans if his humans allow it. Hates his nails trimmed and is not a fan of baths but not hard if it means showering with his ppl. Remy is extraordinarily motivated by love, affection, praise, and food. He loves to be held or happily not being held. He is dramatic emotionally driven by passion and falls deeply in love. If this is you, all this ☝️ but feel he won't keep up with you during outdoor adventures. Yeah, he will. Remy can walk 5 miles without effort. I guarantee he can run them too if build-up to it. He is a very proud pup and always so eager to please. Remy is somewhat ADHD, and a goof at times, and can come across as neurotic with his silly dramatic personality but he is not. Remy enjoys his training sessions and learning new things. He enjoys showing off his tricks and obedience training every chance he can. Remy is a social butterfly fueled but love. Remy has been with us for over 3 years and at first, he required a lot of work. But im happy I accepted the challenge. His energy is charismatic. We help switch his mindset with socialization, training, and discovery of what he enjoyed which made training fun. Remy is great with dogs, and cats, and adores every human he meets. He is extremely smart and appreciates his daily walks, training sessions are always fun, and learning new tricks is his joy. Remy is also a sweetheart and loves to snuggle and loved on. He is obsessed with his super mutt harness and cape. It's his comfort wear. Remy is crate and house-trained but does well with a belly band. Remy is incredible at agility, a running friend, and cycling is perpetually fun! He loves to be active and loves learning even more. Remy enjoys city strolls and cafe shops, a good run of spooning comfortably shrugged in hour arms binge-watching Netflix. He's the best of both worlds. Remy is a very affectionate pup and more so of a Velcro dog but on the active side. Remy has a cute funny prankster personality. He enjoys speaking which comes across as intimidating but it's nothing more than him communicating. He smiles and shows off his pearly whites. He does this when asked or if he wants someone's attention. Remy enjoys playing with his toys too. Remy is known as a positive-natured outdoor activity fun little dude. What he does not care for is baths but does ok, sleeping in is no fun but he snuggles or is ignored. Remy is house and crate trained, current to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto & corona, 1 or 3-year rabies,  dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped including free registration for life, spay/neutered, heartworm & lyme diseases tested negative upon adoption,  and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. We do NOT ship and meet and greet are required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter. Previous adopters of AHS have the first choice and are not expected to pay another adoption fee again.  Donation of their choice is welcomed. Training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continued training is a must. Adoption process information can be found on our website www.animalhousesanctuary.org The Adoption Fee of $300 covers all of the above and everyday needs/care.

Story
Feta Cheese was surrendered, along with his sibling Gouda, to the Muncie Animal Control shelter. Gouda got adopted, but Feta didn't. He did not do well in the shelter environment, so he came to Chihuahua Rescue. Although he was neutered in Muncie, Feta's shots were not brought up to date; we fixed that. Feta's crate training has insured his potty training! You just need to put him in a crate when he will not be supervised. He's not thrilled to go into his crate, but if you toss a small treat in there, he will go right in. He LOVES going for long walks on a leash or doing zoomies in a securely fenced backyard. He is very interested in wildlife, especially squirrels, mice, rabbits and toads. Unfortunately, he's pretty hard on them. When he's frightened, Feta can be a bit snappy so his adopter will need to go slowly in establishing a relationship with him. Once he trusts you, which happens fairly quickly, Feta's warm and snuggly. Feta is a smart dog, and he needs to be kept busy. He will find something to entertain himself if you don't provide it. He completed Beginning Obedience Class at PetSmart in December 2023; he needs continued practice to be sure he retains and improves on his lessons. In the meantime, approved chew toys for "aggressive chewers" are must (he will come with his current black Kong). While he's not a fan of big dogs, Feta gets on well with the other 5 small dogs at his foster's house, except he is concerned about his bowl at feeding time. Eating in his crate keeps that issue under control. Feta hasn't been tested with cats or children yet but should do well with older kids who can take the time to get to know him. Thanks to a donated DNA test we now know that Feta Cheese is Chihuahua 35.0%, Shih Tzu 33.6%, American Pit Bull Terrier 9.6%, Pekingese 7.8%, Boston Terrier 7.2%, Beagle 3.6%, Bloodhound 3.4% which all adds up to 100% All-American Dog!! Story
Bandit is a very loving, sweet dog. He is playful, especially likes to play fetch. All vet needs are up to date. He loves to curl up on your lap for a nap. His previous owner could no longer care for him. Bandit is housebroken and does great as long as you offer lots of breaks and notice his cues of needing to go outdoors. Local hot Indy) adoption only It takes him a while to warm up to new people. Bandit has some very chihuahua behaviors, he loves "his" person and will keep others away by doing a dance around the feet of the stranger and he "might" take a nip at the ankle. It's not representative of Bandit's overall super sweet and enjoyable personality. He likes to get up by your face and lay his head on you and then takes his paw and pats you on the face. It’s darling, and almost cat-like. If you’re looking for a great companion, Bandit would be great for you. Bandit just had his teeth cleaned at the vet and he is current on flea and heartworm meds as well as routine vaccines. He's not a big eater, he does like treats, and he is crate trained. He is fine with other friendly dogs. Bandit's adoption fee is $375 and he's ready for adoption now. Fostered by sphil
