Story
Meet Ricky! This handsome little guy is around 2 years old and is searching for a forever home to call his own. If you're looking for a loyal companion who's just as happy cuddling on the couch as he is joining you on an adventure, Ricky might be your perfect match. Ricky has a calm, easygoing demeanor and takes in the world with his curious, observant eyes. He may come in a small package, but he has a huge heart! While he's generally a relaxed little guy, he has a goofy side that shines once he's comfortable—and one of his favorite places to be is curled up right in your lap. Ricky enjoys spending quality time with his people and seems to appreciate having his own space to explore. He hasn't had the chance to meet any canine friends yet, but he appears to be more of an independent guy who enjoys soaking up attention from his humans. Whether you're reading a book, watching TV, or heading out for a walk, Ricky is happy just being by your side. This smart boy does great in his crate and appears to be potty trained, making him an easy addition to a lucky family. With his sweet personality, lovable quirks, and affectionate nature, Ricky is sure to become someone's very best friend. Could that someone be you? *Adopters must live in Central Indiana, no more than 45 min from downtown Indy *Please visit website for how to adopt: https://sketchymuttsandunderdogs.org/adopt *Please note that we do not operate on a first come first served basis

Story
Moose came to the Rescue as an owner surrender. He is a sweetie who is friendly to people he doesn’t know, though he does take a minute to warm up. He’s mostly housebroken if you let him out often enough. He’s not a fan of being in a crate but will tolerate being in one for short periods of time. When Moose is happy to see his person, he will bring his toys that he plays with at times. Like most Chihuahuas, Moose is independent and wants things his way. Moose had a neuter, a dental, and his left eye was removed, which means he is happier with no longer needing that eye to be cleaned and medicated. These procedures were done in mid-April 2025 and Moose is healing well. Moose is ready to go to an approved forever home! Local Indianapolis adoption only. SP 4/7/25

Story
Curley is a sweet, funny, and playful 7‑year‑old boy with a wonderful disposition. He can be a little shy at first, but once he gets to know you he really opens up and is very loving. He has been a great dog in our busy multigenerational household and is used to family life. Buster is excellent with cats, but would probably be happiest as the only dog in the home so he can soak up all the attention, but another dog would not be a deal breaker, as long as they get along. He is currently wearing a belly band/diaper indoors while we continue to work on his house training, and his new family should be ready to keep helping him with that. Buster is a good dog who deserves a soft landing and a home of his own.”

Story
Hi, I’m Blue. A special little guy with the crystal-blue eyes and a dapple coat. I’m seven years old, weigh about 13 pounds, and I’ve taken the scenic route to becoming a real dog. I started life in Tennessee in a tough situation with more than 60 other dogs who never learned how kind people could be. When I first arrived at Chihuahua Rescue in 2020, I was terrified, tested positive for heartworms, and thought every human hand was bad news. I’d snarl, snap, and make it crystal clear that my personal space was mine. Thanks to treatment and months of patient care (and a lot of snacks), I beat the heartworms and slowly began to trust enough to “dog.” These days I’m a pro at living with other dogs and I’ve even picked up a few civilized hobbies: Secure walks. I still prefer a slip lead and calm surroundings, but I’ll show off my adorable little trot. Special toys. They help me stay relaxed and give my brain something to do. Squirrel patrol. I’ll happily chase critters and sometimes bring… um… “gifts.” Crate life. My crate is my safe space and I’m fully crate trained—it’s my personal den when the world feels too loud. Snack negotiations. I’m very treat-motivated and proudly expect a snack when I come in from outdoors. (Payment upon delivery of good behavior, please.) Here’s the fine print: I don’t like to be petted. Ever. I’ll hang out near you, follow you around a hobby farm or big yard, and be your quiet companion, but please admire me with your eyes, not your hands. I bark a lot (think of it as my own podcast), and sometimes mark inside if stressed (usually from new dogs). My foster family keeps me on doggy Prozac and ProHeart for heartworm prevention, which help me stay healthy and calm. Despite everything, I’m smart, obedient, and secretly eager to please. What I need most is a patient person who understands that love doesn’t have to mean cuddles—it can mean trust, space, and long walks together.

Story
Hello, my name is Poncho. I was born into the rescue and my mom is Paige. It is unknown who my father is as my mom came from a house with many dogs. I am a spunky, 5-month-old, who is ready to go to a foster to adopt home with my adoption being finalized when I am neutered. I have 3 rounds of puppy shots; my rabies shot and am microchipped. My foster mom tells me all the time that I am a really smart boy and that I'm her favorite even though she isn't supposed to pick. My mom is a Chihuahua mix, but I will be most likely a small to medium sized boy as I am already a chunky 10 lbs. I am a long boy with legs like a dachshund or basset hound. I have been around other dogs and cats. She does think I would be okay with dog savvy kids as long as they understand I am a puppy who likes to play. I do need to work on my house-training skills as I do not like the cold but am a quick learner for treats. The other pets in the house are under 25# so it's doubtful that he would exceed that. His momma was about 14# at delivery and is less now.
