Peter`s Compatibility:Dogs - Has lived with a small dog before and has been able to coexist hereCats - TBDKids - Most comfortable in a calm, adult homePeter has spent the last eight years in a world that felt very small. No walks. Very little socialization. A lot of time in his crate and not much affection or play. Because of that, Peter learned to rely on himself. When he feels unsure, he prefers to protect his space.Peter is not a dog who wants to be scooped up or fussed over right away. He likes to take things slow and build trust at his own pace. Once he feels safe, you will see him relax. If he gets overwhelmed, he may give a small warning to ask for space. It is simply his way of communicating that he needs a minute. He is very clear about his comfort level, which makes it easier to read him and respond appropriately.Once Peter gets to know you, he softens. He enjoys chest and belly scratches from people he trusts. He is housebroken. He has lived peacefully with another small dog in the past and has been able to coexist with other dogs here at the shelter. He does best when life feels calm and predictable.Peter would love a quieter home with adults who are patient, kind, and believe in going slow. He may always be a sensitive soul, and that is okay. With consistency and understanding, dogs like Peter can grow in ways that are truly special to witness. If you believe in giving a dog the time he was never given before, Peter would love to meet you.

Story
We got Stormy from our neighbor who was moving. She is very likable, quiet & sweet. We are never home all through out the day.And she is home alone most of the time. And that is not fair to her at all.So we would rather her be rehomed to someone who can pay her more attention & give her more quality time. She will go to the door & sit when she wants to go out to potty. She is also crate trained to potty on pads when she is in her cage when left at home. She is a funny eater. She won’t just eat anything you give her. She loves soft dog food. She likes her hard dog food kind of soft & a little warm. She does not bark a lot.Only when someone knocks at the door. She is not aggressive at all. She’s very friendly with other pets. She loves kids & is very friendly to anyone who will give her attention. Her demeanor is considered adorable, calm & chill.

Story
Hi, I’m Papa John! I’m a sweet senior guy who can be a bit shy at first, but with patience and kindness I start to come out of my shell. Once I feel comfortable, I really enjoy gentle affection and quiet companionship. I’d do best in a calm home that will let me move at my own pace and help me continue building confidence. As a senior pup, I do have some signs of dental disease, and I’ll need my bloodwork rechecked to make sure I’m in good overall health. My care team can talk more with you about what that may look like moving forward. If you’re looking for a gentle soul to love and give a cozy retirement to, I’d be so happy to meet you.

Story
Hi, I’m Bratwurst. I’m a gentle senior boy with a soft heart and an even softer approach to life. I have some hair loss (alopecia) that may or may not resolve over time. It doesn’t bother me or itch, and it’s not affecting my quality of life, but your vet may want to run some tests to learn more. I also have mild ear tip necrosis; again, it’s not an emergency, but it may require treatment or minor surgery in the future depending on what your vet thinks is best. What I really need now is a quiet home, a comfy place to rest, and a kind heart to share the days with. I would do best as the only pet in the home. If you're looking for a mellow, sweet companion who just wants to be loved, I’d be so grateful to meet you. I am eligible for foster!

Story
Tuco was found as a dumped puppy. His finder could not keep him so an amazing prior foster of ours took him in. He is currently loving life. He is very energetic like most puppies. He likes to run around and play. The resident dog is one of his favorites to run circles around. He has met the resident cat and sniffed her but didn't seem interested. He most likely has spent most his life outside and being a baby, is still working on potty training. He was just rescued last night so shots and spay/neuter will be happening soon. He is a great happy cuddle bug and would make a wonderful addition to any home.

Story
Meet Remy Pasqual! He is believed to be a 4-year-old Jack Russell Chihuahua blend. Never enough love can ever be too much. Remy needs his happiness forever. He's been with me for 3 years and yes he had major behavior issues but that's no longer who he is. He lives to be touched by everyone, loved, good with dogs and cats, and ok as an only dog too. He is active love being active outdoors chills indoors, enjoys swimming hiking trails adventures boat rides, and has been canoeing and loved it. He is amazingly easy-trained and exceptionally off-leash trained. Lives agility and car rides. Yeah, he's a bit clingy but people enjoy this. Can guard his humans if his humans allow it. Hates his nails trimmed and is not a fan of baths but not hard if it means showering with his ppl. Remy is extraordinarily motivated by love, affection, praise, and food. He loves to be held or happily not being held. He is dramatic emotionally driven by passion and falls deeply in love. If this is you, all this ☝️ but feel he won't keep up with you during outdoor adventures. Yeah, he will. Remy can walk 5 miles without effort. I guarantee he can run them too if build-up to it. He is a very proud pup and always so eager to please. Remy is somewhat ADHD, and a goof at times, and can come across as neurotic with his silly dramatic personality but he is not. Remy enjoys his training sessions and learning new things. He enjoys showing off his tricks and obedience training every chance he can. Remy is a social butterfly fueled but love. Remy has been with us for over 3 years and at first, he required a lot of work. But im happy I accepted the challenge. His energy is charismatic. We help switch his mindset with socialization, training, and discovery of what he enjoyed which made training fun. Remy is great with dogs, and cats, and adores every human he meets. He is extremely smart and appreciates his daily walks, training sessions are always fun, and learning new tricks is his joy. Remy is also a sweetheart and loves to snuggle and loved on. He is obsessed with his super mutt harness and cape. It's his comfort wear. Remy is crate and house-trained but does well with a belly band. Remy is incredible at agility, a running friend, and cycling is perpetually fun! He loves to be active and loves learning even more. Remy enjoys city strolls and cafe shops, a good run of spooning comfortably shrugged in hour arms binge-watching Netflix. He's the best of both worlds. Remy is a very affectionate pup and more so of a Velcro dog but on the active side. Remy has a cute funny prankster personality. He enjoys speaking which comes across as intimidating but it's nothing more than him communicating. He smiles and shows off his pearly whites. He does this when asked or if he wants someone's attention. Remy enjoys playing with his toys too. Remy is known as a positive-natured outdoor activity fun little dude. What he does not care for is baths but does ok, sleeping in is no fun but he snuggles or is ignored. Remy is house and crate trained, current to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto & corona, 1 or 3-year rabies,  dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped including free registration for life, spay/neutered, heartworm & lyme diseases tested negative upon adoption,  and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. We do NOT ship and meet and greet are required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter. Previous adopters of AHS have the first choice and are not expected to pay another adoption fee again.  Donation of their choice is welcomed. Training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continued training is a must. Adoption process information can be found on our website www.animalhousesanctuary.org The Adoption Fee of $300 covers all of the above and everyday needs/care.
