Story
Bambi really enjoys walks outside, laying in the sunlight, being silly with other animals, cuddles, and of course, treats. He is playful and likes toys. He is a good boy, but he can be a bit of a diva. He is a bit of a nervous guy when it comes to change. So I am looking for someone who is willing to work with me on getting him acclimated to a new environment slowly.

Story
I found Lola two years ago, I’m unsure of her age and exact breed…I just know she’s a chihuahua. Lola loves to cuddle, children. My boyfriend has a pitbull that she gets along well with. When she sees someone new she gets excited and will pee a little. She’s also a barker. I’m looking for her to go to a loving home, preferably someone with a house so she can go out in the back yard…she loves being outside.

Story
Meet Remy Pasqual! He is believed to be a 4-year-old Jack Russell Chihuahua blend. Never enough love can ever be too much. Remy needs his happiness forever. He's been with me for 3 years and yes he had major behavior issues but that's no longer who he is. He lives to be touched by everyone, loved, good with dogs and cats, and ok as an only dog too. He is active love being active outdoors chills indoors, enjoys swimming hiking trails adventures boat rides, and has been canoeing and loved it. He is amazingly easy-trained and exceptionally off-leash trained. Lives agility and car rides. Yeah, he's a bit clingy but people enjoy this. Can guard his humans if his humans allow it. Hates his nails trimmed and is not a fan of baths but not hard if it means showering with his ppl. Remy is extraordinarily motivated by love, affection, praise, and food. He loves to be held or happily not being held. He is dramatic emotionally driven by passion and falls deeply in love. If this is you, all this ☝️ but feel he won't keep up with you during outdoor adventures. Yeah, he will. Remy can walk 5 miles without effort. I guarantee he can run them too if build-up to it. He is a very proud pup and always so eager to please. Remy is somewhat ADHD, and a goof at times, and can come across as neurotic with his silly dramatic personality but he is not. Remy enjoys his training sessions and learning new things. He enjoys showing off his tricks and obedience training every chance he can. Remy is a social butterfly fueled but love. Remy has been with us for over 3 years and at first, he required a lot of work. But im happy I accepted the challenge. His energy is charismatic. We help switch his mindset with socialization, training, and discovery of what he enjoyed which made training fun. Remy is great with dogs, and cats, and adores every human he meets. He is extremely smart and appreciates his daily walks, training sessions are always fun, and learning new tricks is his joy. Remy is also a sweetheart and loves to snuggle and loved on. He is obsessed with his super mutt harness and cape. It's his comfort wear. Remy is crate and house-trained but does well with a belly band. Remy is incredible at agility, a running friend, and cycling is perpetually fun! He loves to be active and loves learning even more. Remy enjoys city strolls and cafe shops, a good run of spooning comfortably shrugged in hour arms binge-watching Netflix. He's the best of both worlds. Remy is a very affectionate pup and more so of a Velcro dog but on the active side. Remy has a cute funny prankster personality. He enjoys speaking which comes across as intimidating but it's nothing more than him communicating. He smiles and shows off his pearly whites. He does this when asked or if he wants someone's attention. Remy enjoys playing with his toys too. Remy is known as a positive-natured outdoor activity fun little dude. What he does not care for is baths but does ok, sleeping in is no fun but he snuggles or is ignored. Remy is house and crate trained, current to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto & corona, 1 or 3-year rabies,  dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped including free registration for life, spay/neutered, heartworm & lyme diseases tested negative upon adoption,  and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. We do NOT ship and meet and greet are required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter. Previous adopters of AHS have the first choice and are not expected to pay another adoption fee again.  Donation of their choice is welcomed. Training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continued training is a must. Adoption process information can be found on our website www.animalhousesanctuary.org The Adoption Fee of $300 covers all of the above and everyday needs/care.

Story
Picky was adopted by my husband from an unofficial breeder back in college to be an apartment friendly companion. She seems the most happy with a quiet home where her caretakers are home the majority of the day. (I noticed she was most happy and relaxed in the period where I worked from home before we had kids). She is a total cuddle bug and enjoys light wrestling play and pouncing on toys. It takes her awhile to warm up to strangers but she has stayed with family members (without kids) & boarding facilities successfully. Unfortunately she is not tolerant of children. She constantly barks when my 18 month old son plays, growls when he approaches, and has tried to nip when reaches for her. Ive only seen her exhibit this aggressive behavior towards children. She would be an ideal pet for a retired or work from home adult household where she could be the only pet. Although playful, she's not excessively energetic; shes almost 12. She just wants to be with you as much as possible.

Story
Hi, I’m Bandit. I’m a small, big-hearted guy with a talent for fetch, lap naps, and making my person feel like the center of the universe. My vet care is all up to date (including a fresh dental cleaning), and I’m on flea and heartworm prevention so I’m ready to move right in. Here’s what I’m proud of: Housebroken & crate trained. Give me regular potty breaks and watch for my “I gotta go” signals and we’re golden. Champion snuggler. My favorite move is to curl up on your lap or gently pat your face with my paw while I rest my head on you—like a little cat-dog hybrid. Fetch pro. Toss a ball and I’m on it, then right back for another round. I do have a bit of that classic Chihuahua personality: it takes me time to warm up to new people, and until I do, I may do a little dance around strangers’ feet and even sneak in a playful ankle nip. It’s just my way of saying “I need to know you first.” With my chosen person, though, I’m pure sweetness. I’m fine with other friendly dogs, not a big eater (treats are the exception!), and happiest in a calm home where I can bond deeply. Because I thrive best close to my person, I’m available for local Indianapolis adoption only. If you’re looking for a devoted sidekick who will adore you, entertain you with fetch sessions, and nap contentedly on your lap, I’m your Bandit.

Story
Moose came to the Rescue as an owner surrender. He is a sweetie who is friendly to people he doesn’t know, though he does take a minute to warm up. He’s mostly housebroken if you let him out often enough. He’s not a fan of being in a crate but will tolerate being in one for short periods of time. When Moose is happy to see his person, he will bring his toys that he plays with at times. Like most Chihuahuas, Moose is independent and wants things his way. Moose had a neuter, a dental, and his left eye was removed, which means he is happier with no longer needing that eye to be cleaned and medicated. These procedures were done in mid-April 2025 and Moose is healing well. Moose is ready to go to an approved forever home! Local Indianapolis adoption only. SP 4/7/25
