Story
Feta Cheese was surrendered, along with his sibling Gouda, to the Muncie Animal Control shelter. Gouda got adopted, but Feta didn't. He did not do well in the shelter environment, so he came to Chihuahua Rescue. Although he was neutered in Muncie, Feta's shots were not brought up to date; we fixed that. Feta's crate training has insured his potty training! You just need to put him in a crate when he will not be supervised. He's not thrilled to go into his crate, but if you toss a small treat in there, he will go right in. He LOVES going for long walks on a leash or doing zoomies in a securely fenced backyard. He is very interested in wildlife, especially squirrels, mice, rabbits and toads. Unfortunately, he's pretty hard on them. When he's frightened, Feta can be a bit snappy so his adopter will need to go slowly in establishing a relationship with him. Once he trusts you, which happens fairly quickly, Feta's warm and snuggly. Feta is a smart dog, and he needs to be kept busy. He will find something to entertain himself if you don't provide it. He completed Beginning Obedience Class at PetSmart in December 2023; he needs continued practice to be sure he retains and improves on his lessons. In the meantime, approved chew toys for "aggressive chewers" are must (he will come with his current black Kong). While he's not a fan of big dogs, Feta gets on well with the other 5 small dogs at his foster's house, except he is concerned about his bowl at feeding time. Eating in his crate keeps that issue under control. Feta hasn't been tested with cats or children yet but should do well with older kids who can take the time to get to know him. Thanks to a donated DNA test we now know that Feta Cheese is Chihuahua 35.0%, Shih Tzu 33.6%, American Pit Bull Terrier 9.6%, Pekingese 7.8%, Boston Terrier 7.2%, Beagle 3.6%, Bloodhound 3.4% which all adds up to 100% All-American Dog!! Story
Hi, I’m Bandit. I’m a small, big-hearted guy with a talent for fetch, lap naps, and making my person feel like the center of the universe. My vet care is all up to date (including a fresh dental cleaning), and I’m on flea and heartworm prevention so I’m ready to move right in. Here’s what I’m proud of: Housebroken & crate trained. Give me regular potty breaks and watch for my “I gotta go” signals and we’re golden. Champion snuggler. My favorite move is to curl up on your lap or gently pat your face with my paw while I rest my head on you—like a little cat-dog hybrid. Fetch pro. Toss a ball and I’m on it, then right back for another round. I do have a bit of that classic Chihuahua personality: it takes me time to warm up to new people, and until I do, I may do a little dance around strangers’ feet and even sneak in a playful ankle nip. It’s just my way of saying “I need to know you first.” With my chosen person, though, I’m pure sweetness. I’m fine with other friendly dogs, not a big eater (treats are the exception!), and happiest in a calm home where I can bond deeply. Because I thrive best close to my person, I’m available for local Indianapolis adoption only. If you’re looking for a devoted sidekick who will adore you, entertain you with fetch sessions, and nap contentedly on your lap, I’m your Bandit.

Story
Hi, my name is Little One, but my foster family has been calling me Little Man. I'm such a character and love playing with my foster family's kids. I really love the smaller kids for some reason and want to follow them around all the time. I'm great with other dogs and everyone I've met since I moved in, I have liked as well. I would prefer to come into a family that has another dog, or you could just adopt my mom, Wee Wee too. Please reach out I promise you won't feel bad about meeting me.

Story
Please meet Nacho. His first birthday was June 6, 2025. Nacho is a sweet boy but scared when meeting new people. He has to have time to warm up and get comfortable. Nacho likes to play with his people and other small dogs that like to play too.. He's also very vocal, so he needs an actual house to live in; he would not be an asset in an apartment. He would not do well with young children because he would nip at them. Nacho is current on vaccines, HW negative and on preventative, neutered, and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting Nacho, please fill out an application. Updated 8/21/25

Story
Scrappy is a sweet old man who LOVES to love. He loves people and loves the other dogs and cats in the foster home. Scrappy does well at home while humans are away and keeps a clean x pen. He is missing a decent amount of teeth but that doesn’t affect him at all. He is house trained and loves to spend time outside on good days. He’s a happy go lucky guy who loves walks but also loves to lounge on the couch and have a lazy day.

Story
Lucas is a very scared/ shy boy at first. Once he gets to know you, he is very happy to see you and loves to play with his ball. His is still wary whenever you touch him if he does not expect it. With the right amount of time and love he will make a great companion. Lucas was found outside a school this November; he is still learning that he is safe from having to fend for himself on the streets. He is also still getting used to not marking in the house, but with belly bands and continued reinforcement we believe he will learn and get better. He is also learning not to guard his toys. We will do some slow introductions with some dogs over the coming weeks and will continue to keep his profile updated on his progress. We are so happy we could save him from the shelter and give him a second chance at life, he is just a wonderful boy. HT
