Story
Peanut was surrendered when his owner moved to a nursing home and could no longer care for him--so his world was just turned upside down, and he'll need some time to readjust to a new home. He's six years old and would do best in a home with no children and preferably someone who is home most of the time. Peanut has lived only with an elderly woman (who was home all the time) and is a bit scared of men at first but will warm up to them when given time to do so. Peanut doesn't care for strangers or loud noises (thunder, vacuum, gunshots) and gets a bit anxious when left alone. However, he is housebroken and kennel trained.

Story
Approx. DOB:  1/15/23                Weight: 18.5 Lbs Adoption Fee: $275 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Casee Jo is a three year old Chiweenie and is a total lovebug! She is a little shy at first but warms up quickly with a little sweet talking. Once she warms up, she loves sitting in your lap and cuddling, even resting her head against your shoulder. She will follow you everywhere!   Casee Jo is in a foster home with three other dogs and gets along well with each of them. She walks well on a leash and appears to be house broken. She is crate trained, but is currently sleeping in bed with her foster parents. She has shown little interest in dog toys/chews but that may change over time.    She is not treat or food motivated but will come when you call her name. She knows some basic commands such as stay.    A home with a fenced yard is a must. She would make a welcome addition to any family!  I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
Approx. DOB:  1/15/24                Approx Weight: 12.52 Lbs Adoption Fee: $275 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness!!  Mowie is Chihuahua/Dachshund mix that is normally named chiweenie. He is small at 12pds and fully grown. He is crate trained but has to use a belly band (in the house to keep him from marking) while we work on that. He can be a bit feisty and if you know the Chihuahua breed that is where he gets it from. We do not want to place him with households with children under 9 years old because he gets really nervous with smaller ones. He would be happier with older children. Mowie loves playing with smaller dogs and has been very scared and timid around larger dogs until he knows they won't hurt him. This little fella is a total sweetheart once he knows your a safe human and only wants to love him. Get those applications in today to meet and adopt this little guy.  !   I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Story
Don’t let her age fool you, this gal has a lot of fun and sparkle in her! On a typical day, she likes to spend equal time taking walks, playing, napping under a pile of blankets and lots of couch cuddling. (She’s a bonafide lap dog!) She’s crate trained and ready for action, loves car rides, too! Katie hasn’t been around young children that we know of but does well with older kids and adults once she gets to know them. She gets along beautifully with her dog housemate and his canine friends as well. On outings she’s leash reactive but treats magically diffuse situations. Ok with cats.

Story
Tiny body. Big dog energy. Zero apologies. Quigley is a 7-year-old Chihuahua who firmly believes he is a big dog and sees no reason to pretend otherwise. He’s confident, opinionated, and unapologetically himself — the kind of dog who knows what he likes, what he doesn’t, and expects you to respect both. He does well with other dogs, but cats? Not so much. Quigley will chase them like it’s his personal mission, so a cat-free home is preferred. At home, Quigley’s tough-guy act melts into something much cozier. He loves burrowing under the covers and being close to his person. Once you’re “his,” you’re in — he’s loyal, attached, and happiest tucked in beside you like a tiny, judgmental furnace. ✔ Good with dogs ✔ Burrow-under-the-covers professional ✔ Devoted to his person ✔ Neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines ✔ Best suited for someone who appreciates a dog with boundaries and personality Quigley isn’t here to be everyone’s dog. He’s here to be someone’s dog. If you love Chihuahuas with confidence, spice, and a little bit of attitude, Quigley might be exactly your kind of companion.
