My Grandmother lost her job and had to have surgery recently so I am having to help her rehome several of her animals. Elton is good with other dogs and cats but would do well in a home with no small children he will go outside to use the restroom but if not let outside frequently enough he will potty inside.

Story
Dippy is nearly 5 years old and a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. He was adopted from ODAS but surrendered by his owner 4 years later (no fault of his own) with his companion, Chippy Dip (see other profile). Dippy is partial to women, is a bit skittish/scared of men, and does not care for children. Dippy is scared and doesn't understand why he's here with Chippy Dip. He's playful, yet stubborn, and loves toys and is food motivated! He's good with cats, tolerates Chippy Dip, but otherwise would do best if he's the only dog in the home. Dippy is afraid of loud noises (vacuum, thunder, and these loud barking dogs at the shelter) and can be skittish at first until he gets to know you. We won't require Dippy and Chippy Dip go to the same home--but they'd probably rather have it that way... Dippy can become anxious when left alone and would prefer an adult only home where their person/people were home most of the time.

Story
DOB: 6/28/25                                  Current Weight(as of 2/20/26 is 8pds)   Adoption Fee: $350 includes 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness.    Bestie came to us at just one week old with his siblings. His right eye never fully developed and had to be removed at 5 months old. He doesn't have full vision in his left eye but he does extremely well getting around his foster family's home. Routine and having items not moved around help him guide his way around the home. His biggest vision issue is depth perception.  He never goes up or down stairs.  His foster family carry him outside to go potty and play under their constant supervision. His potty routine is using peewee pads in the house unless he is carried outside to go. If you have stairs in your home then they must be baby gated off to keep him safe.  Bestie loves other dogs! He does tend to be scared around dogs over 30pds. His best friend is a 15pd terrier mix. He has done great around the kitties. Most are his size or bigger.  Bestie is crate trained. He sleeps in a crate at night with his bed and a peewee pad.    He is that cutest little guy. When he gets worked up playing or running after us in a game of tag he sounds like he is giving a little honking sound.  It's the cutest thing and hard to explain.  Fill out that application if you fill he would be a great companion to your family and your family will be great for him to live with.    Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out t8o potty. Please make sure that you have a “potty plan” in place if considering adoption. All of our puppies have been spay/neuter, wormed, microchipped, and given age appropriate vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting/adopting one of them just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.  Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Approx. DOB:  1/15/24                Approx Weight: 12.52 Lbs Adoption Fee: $275 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness!!  Mowie is Chihuahua/Dachshund mix that is normally named chiweenie. He is small at 12pds and fully grown. He is crate trained but has to use a belly band (in the house to keep him from marking) while we work on that. He can be a bit feisty and if you know the Chihuahua breed that is where he gets it from. We do not want to place him with households with children under 9 years old because he gets really nervous with smaller ones. He would be happier with older children. Mowie loves playing with smaller dogs and has been very scared and timid around larger dogs until he knows they won't hurt him. This little fella is a total sweetheart once he knows your a safe human and only wants to love him. Get those applications in today to meet and adopt this little guy.  !   I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Please visit our web site at https://tarasdream.org/adopt to fill out an adoption application for this pet and for more info about our adoption process.  Rex – The Quiet Little Shadow Rex is a sweet, sensitive boy with a soft heart and a shy spirit. When he first meets new people he is timid and skittish, but with patience, kindness, & a little time, his true personality starts to shine. Each day he’s growing more confident and learning that the world is a safe place. He’s currently working on socializing & building trust, and he’s making great progress with loving guidance. Rex plays great with kids and other dogs, and he seems to find comfort in calm, friendly companions. He is fully potty trained and very well behaved in the home. Rex also enjoys snuggling, though he prefers affection on his own terms. When he feels safe, he’ll happily curl up beside you and soak up the love. Rex needs a home with a fenced yard and preferably another dog or two.
