Story
We are a matched based adoption agency, if you see a dog in our program in which you are interested in adopting, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org and one of our adoptions counselors will be in touch once your application has been screened. Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption.Aliyah is about 2-3 years old, spayed, up to date on all vetting, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is 150. Aliyah came to us from a neglect case and has been with a foster for a few months now to help her come out of her shell. She is used to living with other dogs around her size or smaller. She can be timid meeting new dogs but as long as the dog is friendly and gives her time to adjust she does very well. Aliyah is a very fearful dog when in new situations and meeting new people and can be especially fearful of men. Once she trusts someone she does become very attached but she will need a lot of TLC and patience to trust another new person in a new environment. She can be reactive in moments of fear, or protective of her person with strangers. She will need continued training through her trust issues with a confident owner who has experience working with dogs who may have experienced trauma. She is not an appropriate fit for a home with children. Aliyah enjoys walks, stuffed toys, treats, and is affectionate once you've gained her trust.

Story
Howdy ho! My name is Dexter! I am energetic, curious, and loyal. My favorite past times are licking PB from Kong toys and racing around my foster mom’s backyard, I can even hop over a 4ft fence! I enjoy playing with other dogs my size/age but I try to be alpha. I need reminded of my manners, then I do well. I can be nervous and hesitant to meet new people, but after a few treats and hush tones, I warm up. I need my harness and leash secure to keep me from darting away but I'm working on being a good walker. Once I build trust, I like to snuggle and give good kisses. I often bark at people that I do not know but still love to look out the window. I would do better in a house without children because they make me nervous. I’m good at learning commands, I can sit and shake. I am potty trained. I am working on kennel training. Dexter will come fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $200. Apply to adopt Dexter today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org.

Story
If you're looking for a low-key companion to sit at home and chill with, Marla is your girl! Marla is a blind older lady but she does not let that stop her! She is full of spunk and personality and loves to explore and strut her stuff. Marla would do best in a more calm environment since she can't see her surroundings and can become overwhelmed if there is too much going on. Marla really is a sweetheart that deserves only the finest things in life through her golden years. All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested (6 months and above,) and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. At the time of adoption all dogs are signed up with a unique Safe Paws QR pet ID tag, the adopter is required to maintain a monthly membership of $2.99/month for (at minimum) the first year. This helps insure your new furry family member makes his way back to you if lost. Leashes and collars are also required at the time of adoption. You are welcome to bring your own, or we have plenty to choose from at the shelter as well. If the pet you fall in love with is not quite ready for adoption, we do offer a $50 hold deposit that will insure you have first "dibs on adoption. Once an animal is available for adoption, we are not able to hold them, as there are so many animals waiting to come into our program. Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays. You are welcome to fill out our quick 10 question adoption survey to facilitate a quicker process. This will also start the meeting process for those animals in foster care: Marla is a senior gal with a lot left to give. She is mostly blind but that doesn't slow her down. Marla is sweet and loves the comfort of a couch. If you're looking for the perfect gal to lounge with you, look no further. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/MARQ/Dog

Lulu's sooo cute!!! She's a tiny senior, about 10 years old and only 12 itty bitty pounds, with adorably huge ears and Groucho Marx eyebrows. She's a couch potato dog who loves to cuddle and nap. Lulu does great with other dogs, cats, AND kids. Oh, this smarty pants is housetrained, too! Honestly, Lulu's as close to perfect as we can imagine. Lulu's looking for a forever home and is available through Pawsitive Tails Dog Rescue. Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you can give Lulu a fabulous home. She's staying in Beloit, Kansas, but transport is available!
