Story
This is Cy, with one eye! He is an 8 year old Chihuahua/Pom mix that was born with a deformed eye. He wants nothing more than to snuggle on your lap and soak up your affection. Cy's problem ... well, he is a real "Get Off My Lawn!!" kind of guy. We figure a lot of his grumpiness comes from his limited vision. He's not always sure what is coming at him. Because of that he is selective about the dogs in his orbit. He does not do well with hyper, excitable friends. He does better with low-key folks like himself! He does not, however, like to share his space, especially if that space is next to his human. Cy would do best as the only dog, but could exist with the right friend. He also takes a bit to warm up to new people, but he always seems to get there! Cy is not the dog for everyone, but if you want a great companion that will snuggle as long as you will let him, Cy, with one eye, might be your guy!

Story
Mel is typical of small dogs; nervous at first but loving once she gets to know you. She is crate trained and house trained. He has been around teenagers and is good with them. Due to his initial nervousness he would likely not be good with small children. He enjoys playing with other small dog in his foster home.He came to the shelter with a broken leg and evidence of an old break. To eliminate pain the decision was made to remove the front leg. It has not slowed him down at all.He enjoys toys and likes to make a next of his bedding.Mel is not thrilled about being picked up until he is comfortable with his people. He is fairly independent and wants a home that will let him be himself. He chases the cat in the foster home so a home with no cats, unless the cats enjoy a race, would likely be better.Mel is living in a foster home. If you would like to learn more about him or want to meet him please email foster@kcpetproject.org

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Virginia (virginiak@tarasdream.org) for more information about this pet. Please visit our web site at https://tarasdream.org/adopt to fill out an adoption application for this pet and for more info about our adoption process.    Baby and Fancy are 7 1/2 year old Chihuaua's who have lived her entire lives together. They recently had their lives turned upside down when both of their pet parents passed away a few months apart. You would never know by how well they have handled their new and uprooted lives. They are currently being fostered with 2 older small dogs but they were temporarily fostered with big dogs and a cat. They do great with any friendly dog or cat. They love each other and they love attention. The one thing they love as much as people is a yard. These two could spend hours outside. They love to explore and sniff around outside and have a nice comfortable place to hang out.  Their previous pet parent didn't take them for walks but I think that they could get used to that. They definitely need to be confined to a fenced yard or leashes when not contained because they are runners and they have been known to look for an opportunity to take off on an adventure.    A perfect home would be with or without other pets and a fenced in yard that's suited for lounging. These girls don't tear anything up. They love their dog beds but also enjoy sleeping with their human.  If they are let out frequently for potty breaks it reduces the chance of a potty accident. They are mostly house trained but their previous pet parent kept pads down just in case.   These girls have been well taken care, loved and nurtured their entire lives. It was their moms dying wish that they go into a loving home together.  They are spayed and have always been kept up to date on vaccines, heartworm prevention and flea and tick prevention. Approximate Birthdate:   Jan 2016 TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL. Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.     For more information please fill out an application.     CONTACT INFO The Animal Rescue Alliance (TARA) Web site: tarasdream.org Adoption Information & Applications: https://tarasdream.org/adopt Upcoming Adoption Events: https://tarasdream.org/events Email: email@tarasdream.org June 7, 2023, 4:10 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Otis he was returned to us I think because of his energy level. Plus his owner had surgery so it was hard for her to take him for walks. She said he is house trained and crate trained. He is a Chug Chihuahua/pug . He is a sweet dog that loves attention and when he got here he instantly started playing with the other young dogs here that still have puppy energy to burn off. There was no growling they just ran off to play. He weighs between 10-12 lbs . He is neutered current on vaccines and heart worm negative and microchipped. He needs a loving home with an active family and an active dog would be a bonus for him and the other dog. His adoption fee is $350.00 if you would be interested in him please go to www.secondchancepetskc.org and fill out a prescreening.
