Story
Pint-sized Frannie will arrive at NCCR on 8/29/26, transferred out of a full-to-capacity shelter that ran out of room for her. She is a classic Chihuahua in looks and personality. She weighs just 10 Ibs. and is guessed to be about 7-8 years old.Frannie loves to sit on your lap or snuggle up beside you, and is good with other dogs & cats, too. She is also house trained, and will go out when asked, although she is still learning how to let you know when's she's gotta go! Frannie will let other pets know her boundaries if they get too "in your face" with her, but otherwise she is sweet-natured and social with both people and pets. Additional pictures and more information as we get to know her.*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure she is a great fit.Not sure if you are ready to adopt? Please consider applying to foster Frannie, which will lead to a happily ever after adoption, either with you, or the family you help get her ready for! Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience. Learn more and apply on our website, under the “Get Involved” tab. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will not be able to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!

Story
THIS IS A FOSTER Age: 14 years old Personality: Resilient, timid, sweet, and adaptable Nutella is a 14-year-old survivor with a noble heart. She came from a difficult past, having experienced physical and emotional neglect, including enduring harsh winters outdoors. Despite these hardships, she has shown an incredible ability to adapt and is ready to learn to trust again. What She Needs in a Home: A Gentle Approach: She is afraid of people and naturally timid. It is essential to approach her slowly and calmly, avoiding reaching directly over her head so as not to startle her. Empathy and Understanding: She needs someone who understands her background, recognizes when she feels afraid, and respects her boundaries while giving her time to feel safe. A Peaceful Environment: A quiet, loving space where she can enjoy her golden years feeling truly secure and cared for. Nutella isn't just looking for a shelter; she is looking for someone who will understand her journey and respect her pace.
