Story
Maddie is currently being fostered in TEXAS. Maddie is apx 4 years old and weighs 7.5 pounds. A nice couple found her on New Year’s Eve. She must’ve gotten spooked by the fireworks and ran from wherever she was. The couple posted her everywhere to try and find her owners. Maddie had several dog bites on her so she must have been attacked by dogs while on the run. This was all very traumatizing for her. I am very surprised they even caught her because Maddie is extremely skittish. She has tried to nip a few times out of fear. Maddie is wonderful with dogs and cats but absolutely NO children. Maddie warms up after a few days to her person and will allow you to pick her up, cuddle her and pet her but she just needs some time to decompress. She did okay at the vets office, but we did have to burrito her in a towel. Maddie is just extremely scared but once she gets comfortable with her surroundings and her people she is 110% love bug and would like a warm, calm, loving, patient, mature, home to spend her years in. Maddie does not appear to do well with change. A fenced yard would be best unless someone is willing to use pee pads, until she is comfortable and confident walking on a leash with a very well fitted harness, with her person. She rarely barks, doesn't make a sound and uses potty pads. She loves bedding, blankets, naps and attention once she is comfortable with you. She is a very demure and shy baby but she will blossom with every kiss, cuddle and some positive praise. Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
Prissy is currently being fostered in TEXAS. Prissy aka Prissy Pants. Prissy is apx 10 years old and 9.8 pounds. She is a hoot. Prissy is sure to make you laugh on a daily basis. She always has her tongue out and a sideways tilty head. She loves all dogs, cats and people. Prissy has good potty manners to go outside but will use a pad if needed. She is not fussy and is just genuinely a happy go lucky girl. Prissy does have a bit of a neurological quirk, she does not love being picked up or held. She LOVES attention, being pet and doted upon, sitting on your lap, sleeping next to you and following you around. When you pick her up she will wiggle, turn her head very drastically and does not really seem to have control of this drastic head turn when she is lifted up. This is an involuntary action. We have no clue why she does this. It may be head trauma at some point but we are unsure. This truly does not effect Prissy’s quality of life and she is an extremely happy and loving girl. She is chi/terrier mix and low to no shedding. She does not bark often but when she does bark it is just one single odd noise that sounds more like a screaming goat than a dog. She is just special and will bring you years of joy Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
West is currently being fostered in TEXAS. West has many other names we call her such as; Chirp, because she does not bark she actually makes this odd chirping sound that is very high-pitched. Luckily, she does not do it often 😂 We also call her long legs Louise. West was rescued from the Rio Grande Valley. She was found as a stray. West is approximately 1 to 1 1/2 years old, tall, lanky and apx 15 pounds. West is a bit shy at first but quickly warms up and she does have a good bit of energy and silliness. She is a happy dog and she LOVES other dogs. She definitely needs a home with other dogs, or an adopter willing to take her to dog parks or doggy daycare. She loves to play with other dogs and gets very excited to meet new dogs. She is an all around fantastic gal with a happy and joyful demeanor. Story
Shruggs is currently being fostered in TEXAS. Shruggs is apx 5 years young and a short stout 11 pounds. He has a deformed left limb and this is a birth defect. He still gets along just fine. We got Shruggs from a pretty bad situation and he came in with a broken soul but day by day he is getting better, lifting his head a little higher, and seems that every day his sun shines a tad bit brighter. He is still a work in progress and needs a loving and patient adopter. He is not aggressive and does not bite but he is timid and shy. He loves other animals but no small children please living in the home. I think the visits from toddlers would be fine as he is not an aggressive dog, but he is very quiet and submissive. I think living in a very loud home 24-7 may be too much for Shruggs. Here is what his foster has to say...Update on Shrugs: Learning to walk on a leash, does stairs really well up and down, likes to run, is a couch potato at heart, sleeps in kennel, he mostly potties outside & I leave the back door open, he had an accident yesterday but was my fault I closed the door after I went in the backyard. He follows me around all day, loves to cuddle. His nervous tinkling has pretty much stopped. He is sweet, gentle and a cuddle bug. He does really well with other gentle dogs. Story
Penelope is currently being fostered in TEXAS. Penelope is approximately 2 to 3 years old and weighs 9.4 pounds. She was found in San Antonio as a stray. She was basically feral and a very nice woman finally got her trapped inside of her yard, but then had a really hard time catching her after that. It took a while for the woman to gain Penelope‘s trust, but she did, and then she reached out to us for help and taking her. Although Penelope is indeed, a very timid and shy little girl, she is extremely sweet. She is very quiet, and she will now come to you in a gentle unsure army crawl. Penelope has now gone to a foster home where she is doing very well and blossoming more and more every single day. Penelope is going to be a wonderful dog for a very quiet mature home. We do REQUIRE that she has a fenced in yard or a secure area for her to go potty. Penelope has no clue how to walk on a leash yet, she will just lay down. Penelope does not have a mean bone in her body. She doesn't bite or growl. She does wonderful with other dogs and cats, but prefers other low-key animals as well. She wouldn't hurt a child but I know she does not want to live in a home with young children 24-7. Visits would be fine. Penelope has had a rough life on the streets. We would really love to see her in a stable home without a lot of change or chaos somewhere where she can rest her head and know that she is forever safe in your arms.
