Well hello there, my name is Chicklet (Chickie for short), and yes, I am the most adorable little black doggie in town. I may be small, but my heart is mighty big with all the love I have to give. I came to Happy Bark with my friend Freckles (also available for adoption). We were picked up as strays and waited for someone to come looking for us. Weeks went by, our pictures were shared, our names were called, but no one ever came. It is hard to understand, because I am just about the most loving little lady you will ever meet. I’m a perfectly pleasant little lap buddy who just wants love. No growling, no fussing, just a tiny hopeful heart ready to love again. I am three years old, just a young lady in my prime. I am housebroken, though I will admit that every now and then I have a tiny oops moment. Hey, I am only eight and a half pounds, little dogs like me try our best with our little bladders. I am good with kids and other dogs, currently being fostered with four other chihuahua's so I like having other dog friends around me to keep me company. I like sitting on a warm lap, being carried like a baby and giving kisses to anyone who shows me kindness. Overall, I am a very good girl. What I can imagine is this - a cozy couch, gentle hands, and soft voices telling me I am a good girl while giving me treats. I will look up at you with my big eyes and promise to give you all the love in my tiny body. I do not need much, just kindness, attention, and a place where I belong. Hi, I’m Trixie! I’m a 6 year old Chihuahua/Pug mix with 21 pounds of personality packed into one very cute little package. I recently found myself looking for a new home after my family went through a major life change, so now I’m ready to find someone who will make me part of their everyday life. I do well with both dogs and cats and I’m very friendly with strangers. I’ll happily come over for pets and curl up in your lap. I do enjoy short play sessions with a furry friend. I’m a true couch potato! Minimal exercise needed. I love chasing toys now and then, but I spend most of the day napping on my favorite chair. I can be a little anxious or vocal at first, but I calm down after a few minutes when my foster peeps head to work. I think I’d make a wonderful companion for someone who likes a sweet little dog with a bit of confidence and character. At six, I’m past the puppy stage and ready to settle into a home where I can enjoy being someone’s beloved girl. Take one look at my happy face and tell me you don’t want to come meet me. Hi there, I’m Asher, a calm little gentleman with a soft heart and an old soul. I’m a 10-year-old senior Chihuahua mix, just 15 pounds, and I’ve got that quiet, tender kind of charm that makes people want to protect me and give me a safe place to live out my golden years. Life is pretty blurry to me these days, and I don't hear so well either, so I can get startled if I’m caught off guard. Because of that, I take things slowly and would love a calm home where I can feel safe and understood. I’m a true couch potato (although I want to stay safely on the floor) — minimal exercise needed — and I’m happiest with cozy routines, gentle company, and soft blankets. I am not a lap dog, thank you. I’m independent and easy to care for, already house trained, very quiet (I’ve never made a sound), and I sleep reliably nine hours overnight. I’ve also done well with other dogs and cats in testing; I get along with dogs of any size as long as they don’t run me over! I don’t bother toys, bones or household items — I mostly eat, potty, and sleep — and I absolutely adore dog beds and treats of any kind. I do politely ask to go out to potty throughout the day and will boop your leg and stare at you when I want out (if you dawdle I may not always wait, in case you didn't get the hint). I'm reliable when left out of the crate when you're not home for moderate periods of time and I’ve learned how to use a ramp so I don’t risk falling down stairs. I don’t love being petted yet, but I’m beginning to accept gentle contact and I’m slowly warming up to the idea of soft scratches. Who knew that could feel so good?! When leashed, I'll come along a bit but no long walks, please. The world is just too scary. What you’ll get with me is a nap-loving, independent, quiet companion with a veteran’s calm and a heart of gold. If you have a soft spot for seniors and a cozy dog bed I can snooze in, I might just be your perfect, slightly-starry-eyed fellow. I'm told I'm the sweetest old man ever. Hi, I’m Marley, an 11 year-old Chihuahua/Pug mix with a gentle little soul and a very cute set of ears. I’m 15 pounds, so I’m just the right size to tuck in beside you while we watch the world go by. That’s pretty much my speed, too. I’m a lower-energy girl who likes to take everything in rather than rush through life. My family surrendered me when their life changed, so I’m ready for a fresh start with someone who will appreciate what a sweet girl I am. I passed all my testing with other dogs and even cats, and while fleas caused some hair loss for rme, everyone thinks my coat will grow back very nicely. For now, I consider it part of my “before” picture. I’m not looking for a complicated life. I’d be pretty happy having my person nearby, enjoying a relaxed day and knowing I’m home for good.
