Story
Meet Penny! Penny is a young Chihuahua mix with a tender heart and a quiet curiosity about the world. She didn’t have much early socialization, so she’s still learning that humans can be kind, predictable, and safe. While she’s not quite comfortable with hands-on handling yet, Penny makes progress every single day—and it’s wonderful to watch her confidence slowly bloom. Penny is looking for a patient, understanding family who will let her move at her own pace and celebrate the small victories. She’ll benefit from working with a trainer who can help her learn the basics of life in a human world and continue building her trust and confidence through positive reinforcement. She would love having another gentle, social dog in the home to show her the ropes and help her feel secure. With proper introductions, Penny could likely learn to live peacefully with cats as well. A home with respectful teenagers would be fine, as long as everyone is committed to her training and socialization journey. Penny may not be the kind of dog who runs up for cuddles right away—but for the right family, earning her trust will be incredibly rewarding. If you have patience, compassion, and room in your heart for a shy pup learning to shine, Penny just might be your perfect match. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Instagram (@nwdogproject) for updates! If you would like to be considered as Penny's forever home, be sure to submit an adoption application on our website! Adoption fee includes; spay/neuter, microchip, microchip registration, dewormer, fecal testing, flea/tick prevention and age-appropriate vaccines. Penny would do great in a home with...Cats : Dogs : Yep!  Kiddos : 13+   ##2630720##

Story
Monkey and I need help. I rescued Monkey 8 months ago. She was 5 days away from euthanasia in a high kill CA shelter. I used to operate a 501c3 animal rescue organization over a decade ago. Sometimes, I will still rescue a dog on occasion. When I do this, it is over the late spring/early summer so that I'll have time to find the animal a home before I become unwell again in the winter. Monkey is the 1st dog I've rescued who I've had this long! I do an immense amount of work with all of my fosters but, right now, I need help. Monkey needs help. I have been struggling to keep up with Monkey's physical needs and training. I am looking for help while I continue to seek a safe and loving home for her; preferably a rat terrier/min pin knowledgeable person a/o someone who has helped a leash reactive dog to succeed in the past (she is doing better!). If someone can help, please contact me. Thank you! petsitting.with.pooky at gmail dot com https://www.youtube.com/shorts/6ms92feeq7g

Story
🐾 Zero — The Hug-Powered Hero Zero might only weigh 25 pounds, but he’s running pure main-character energy. This scrappy Chi-Terrier mix grew up on the tough streets of SoCal, dodging trouble and charming snacks out of strangers. These days, he’s traded back-alley hustle for hero duty — keeping watch, calling out suspicious noises, and making sure his person always knows when something’s up. But when the coast is clear? That’s when Zero unleashes his real superpower — the full-body hug. He leans in with everything he’s got, melting right into you until the world disappears. Then, just when your heart can’t take any more sweetness, he flips over and offers his belly like a tiny furry trust fall. Zero’s the perfect blend of alert dog and emotional support specialist: part security system, part therapy blanket. He’s loyal, funny, and always game for a snack break after patrol. Special Skills: 💞 Hug attack (melts humans instantly) 🔊 Early-warning bark system 🐾 Expert belly-rub receiver 🦴 Snack detection radar Zero’s ready to find his hero — someone who appreciates enthusiasm, loyalty, and the power of one perfectly timed hug.

Story
Burrito was found on 1/18/26 at the 900 block of Cloverleaf Loop in Springfield. He came into the shelter already neutered. If you believe this is your missing dog, please contact the shelter at (541) 689-1503. Since this dog is new to the shelter and we are still looking for their family, they are not viewable on the adoption floor at this time. The shelter staff is giving me some time to settle in and adjust to this new place. As we get to know each other a little better, the behavior team and veterinary staff will then be evaluating my needs. Please stay tuned for my updated information! Our shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable and for most dogs we are only guessing at their primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. This pet is located at Greenhill Humane Society. 88530 Greenhill Road, Eugene, OR 97402 (541) 689-1503.
