When she first arrived, she was deeply shut down and untrusting. But over time, with the patience of some incredible foster homes, Cannoli has bloomed. She's had a big year, she even underwent surgery for double luxating patellas. Now that she's healed and pain-free, her lively, confident side is finally shining through!Because of her past, Cannoli is very timid and sensitive. Loud noises and fast movements will send her looking for cover. But once she knows you're safe? You get to see the real Cannoli:The Happy Dance: When you wake up, come home, or even just step out of the bathroom, Cannoli will greet you with an adorable little excitement dance and sweet kisses.The Sassy Side: Her former foster reports that if breakfast or dinner is late, Miss Cannoli isn't afraid to give you a little sassy look to speed up the service.The Comfort Zone: Sitting people are much less scary to her. She loves to curl up under blankets, chew on her toys, and bake herself in a nice patch of sunlight.Cannoli's Wishlist (The Essential Requirements)Cannoli is a special rescue dog who needs a very specific environment to continue her beautiful progress:An Adult-Only, Quiet Home: No kids, no chaotic schedules. She needs a gentle, predictable environment.A Securely Fenced Yard: Crucial for her safety, as her natural instinct when scared is to shrink or flee.A Doggy Companion: This is a must! Cannoli needs a dog companion around her own size (like her buddy Reggie!) to play with, cuddle with, and help her feel brave. She likes dogs of all sizes, but she truly thrives with a similarly sized friend to copy.Patience & Commitment: She currently takes daily anti-anxiety medication to help her navigate the world (which she may be able to step down from once she is fully settled in her forever home). Her adopter needs to understand the slow, rewarding journey of a rescue dog.The ChecklistPotty Training: A+ She is a doggy door pro! She will potty outside every time and has officially mastered the dog door in her foster home.The Crate: A+ Cannoli loves her crate.
