Once you earn his trust, you’ll have a loyal little shadow who greets you with excitement every time you walk through the door and loves nothing more than curling up beside you for snuggles. Tyler isn’t the type of dog who instantly loves everyone he meets—and that’s okay. New people and unfamiliar situations can be scary for him, so he tends to hang back and bark until he feels safe. His reactions are rooted in fear, not aggression. With patience, consistency, and time, Tyler learns that he’s safe and begins to let his true personality shine. Because new dogs make him uncomfortable, Tyler needs to be the only dog in his home. While he has learned to peacefully coexist with familiar dogs after several weeks, he is happiest when he doesn’t have to navigate the stress of meeting or living with other dogs. Being an only pet will allow him to relax and build confidence much more quickly. Tyler is looking for an adopter who understands that trust isn’t built overnight. It took him about 2½ weeks in his foster home before he truly settled in, and the transformation has been remarkable. The timid, worried little dog became an affectionate companion who enjoys spending time with his trusted people and loves being part of the family. What a wonderful little Chihuahua boy our Jupiter is and up . This dear gentle boy is 7 years old and only 8 lbs. He is just the perfect lap boy! As gentle as he is looks with his piercing dark brown eyes and his easy way of becoming your friends. He is a soft soul that is a little unsure of himself in life. He has been treated badly in the past and we are here to change the path of his life and make it one of security and love. He is housebroken and crate trained and loves to curl up in his little dog bed and sleep after a nice play session. He acts much younger than his 7 years. He is around many other dogs and fits in like a glove, like he has always been there. Please consider giving this boy the next and best 10 years of his life. Grant’s story is one of resilience and hope. He came from a home with too many dogs and not enough care, ending up in a tiny shelter in Tennessee, frightened and unsure of the world. Despite this uncertain past, Grant has a gentle heart and a sweet, affectionate nature that is shining through more every day. Grant is a handsome 1-year-old, 15-pound Chihuahua with the most charming white sock “leggings” that make him truly stand out. He’s a tall little boy with a big heart, and though he can be a bit nervous at first, he is making remarkable progress in just two weeks with us. Like a child a little afraid of the dark, Grant simply needs patience, love, and gentle reassurance. Once he feels safe, he will gladly curl up in your lap, soak up attention, and shower you with affection. He is good with other dogs, though sometimes a little bossy at first—likely a habit from his uncertain past—but he quickly backs down once he feels secure. Grant is mostly housebroken and does well in a home without a crate. He is a climber and clever little adventurer, so confining him isn’t the best idea. He thrives when allowed to move freely, and he won’t tear anything up. Grant is a small dog with enormous potential to become a loving, devoted companion for the right person.
