Story
We adopted Masaya from the Knoxville pound in January 2018. He was skinny and nervous and it was immediately obvious that he really just wanted somebody to love on him, and we were grateful to be his somebody! Once we got him home, his bountiful energy and endless love filled our hearts with joy. He enjoyed running with Dad, chasing vermin through our yard, and jumping up and down excitedly every time we came home (no matter how long we had been away!). He has been with us through 4 moves and has been a gentle and loving older brother to our two human babies, to whom he gives sweet cuddles and kisses every day. It is with great sadness that we are listing Masaya (Sy for short) for adoption, but he has developed a chronic cough due to a partially collapsed trachea. With our third child on the way, we can’t provide the attention and support he needs. He is a wonderful dog with many years ahead of him, if an attentive owner can give him the love he needs (and deserves)!

Story
Cookie and Tiny are a bonded, and now married!, set of Chihuahua's. Cookie is the larger one at around 8lbs and fairly tall, and Tiny is smaller at around 4lbs but needs to maybe gain a pound or so. They are both recently spayed and neutered and since that time Tiny's obsession with Cookie has abated a bit so we are now not 100% sure that they have to be together-but they come from the same home and get along great so it would be ideal for them to be together! They are now married after all! They can bark at strange men especially but did great with our male vet and seem to calm down after spending just a brief amount of time with them and do well with our male team members after spending more time with them. Cookie especially is a kisser and loves to love on people-awwww! But we have discovered that Tiny also loves to be carried around and they will both vie for a spot on your lap! They both can be vocal when left so would not do good in an apartment setting.July 10, 2026, 10:03 am

Story
Etta James is brand new to us at Bonaparte's and she already has adjusted in with her foster easy peasy! This girl seems very sweet and good with other dogs, and seems ok medically but is extremely obese so we need to have her vetted and make sure there is no medical reason for her weight and then start her on a weightless journey. Once we have established what is going on we can open her up for adoption but she will be coming soon until then-July 10, 2026, 10:03 am

Story
Norman is a sweet senior 8 year old, pays minimal attention to the other dog in his foster's home, likes rides in the car and is independent. Norman has started to become much more of a snuggler which is adorable and also seems to walk well on leash and eats his recommended diet  like a horse lol! In fact he has started figuring out how to climb up to his foster's bed and sleep with her and will sleep for 10 hours straight! Norman does need some fairly extensive dental work done so we will be getting that taken care of asap. He did go in to have that done but they found his heart rate to be a little slow so out of precaution we are seeing the Cardiologist June 18th just to make sure he'll be good to go under anesthesia for the dental procedure. Norman is great with being carried but has some depth perception issues so carrying him up stairs and then blocking them off so he can't independently go up or down would be needed. He LOVES to walk and get his steps in and we think he would do best in a home with a fully fenced in yard because this boy loves to explore so he would thrive with a fenced in yard to run around in. Norman may seem like he is dis-engaged but he is-he just needs a sec to explore first and then snuggle later-but he will snuggle for sure we he is ready to relax! He is good with pretty much any dog and any thing-but we are starting to see a little prey dive come out with the foster's chickens!July 10, 2026, 10:03 am

Story
Rocky came to us because his person was elderly and had to enter a care community and could not bring Rocky so he was surrendered to the shelter where we pulled him. He has really opened up and started blossoming since he has been with his fosters and we have really been able to start to get to the bottom of the challenges he came to us with. We have discovered that he has allergies so have started him on meds and that has really helped his skin, we have also discovered that he has a fractured tail at the base that seems to really be bothering him so we may have to do an amputation of the tail-the vet its concerned that the nerves are being pinched so that would hopefully give him some relief. Rocky has a few more things for us to tackle before he is available but stay tuned!July 10, 2026, 10:03 am

Story
Peanut has a big dog personality and if he sees other dogs, he gets super excited, and the yipping sounds scary, but he just wants to play!! He's a nipper and he likes to jump on you out of excitement and although he LOVES kids, he should be in.a home with older kids Peanut is still young, and has plenty of energy to play and run.He has been known to be a runner- He will take off and think, it's a GAME and it will be hard to catch him, so careful at the doors nd fences ;) But smart sweet pup loves kisses and lay on your lap . He walks good on a leash i put 2 one on harness and collar since I don't want him to get loose. (harnesses are too easy to get out of, so a martingale collar is his best collar) He can upset a bigger or smaller dog if they don't have a tolerance for nippiness. In the face kinda of thing he loved to play and he runs super fast lol 😆 they would have to be extra careful that he never gets out of front.Door or takes off he laughing fast 😅 Poor little guy almost got run over on these big streets all alone, and we NEVER want that to happen to him again. So now you know more about the firecracker named Peanut. He is a doll!! ADOPT....DON'T SHOP!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes tranport to your area)
