Story
Meet Ruthie: senior in years, noodle in body, and professional couch hog 💕🐾 Ruthie is a 9lb, 11-year-old Chihuahua mix who somehow missed the memo about looking her age. She’s got the long, tall, lanky body of a tiny greyhound and just enough pep to keep life interesting—think “elegant senior with a playful streak.” She’s a quiet little lady who prefers peace and calm. Loud noises? Hard pass. Barking? Rare—but fair warning, when she does bark, it’s impressively loud for her size. Her absolute favorite place to be is on the couch with her foster mom, nose-to-nose, like they’re sharing top-secret gossip 😂. Ruthie is excellent in her crate and does wonderfully with routine. She can be a bit shy when meeting new people, but with a little time and gentle reassurance, she’s expected to grow more confident as she settles in. When it comes to exercise, Ruthie enjoys short strolls to sniff the neighborhood and stretch her long legs—marathons are not on her vision board. A cozy home, a comfy couch, and a person who appreciates a calm companion would be her dream come true. She can be vocal and shy with new people, so an apartment might not be the best environment for her. Ruthie is currently working on some reactivity issues. She does not like to be disturbed while she is sleeping and will let you know when she isn't happy with how you're touching or moving her. If you’re looking for a low-key best friend with a quirky body, Ruthie is the dog for you 💖 If you are interested in finding out more about Ruthie, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Ruthie is being fostered in Millbury, MA. The adoption fee is $225. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Meet This Happy Little Chaos Agent This handsome guy came to BTR as a stray, and we can’t believe how lucky we are to have gotten to know him! He’s a very friendly, happy, healthy dog who loves people and is always excited about life. He has endless energy and curiosity, so he’ll need an active household that’s ready to keep up with his adventures. Todd loves toys, getting into everything, and generally being a happy little agent of chaos. His favorite place is probably your lap—preferably while smushing his face directly into yours. He has a habit of launching himself onto laps unexpectedly, so you’ve been warned! 😂 With people, Todd is an absolute sweetheart. He has no resource-guarding issues and isn’t bothered by being moved or having something he wants taken away. He’s also okay around kids and would be good in families with kids. The more human attention, the better. When it comes to other dogs, he’s selective. He can get into scuffles, particularly if he thinks another dog is getting too much of his person’s attention, so he should be the only pet in the home, and that includes cats. He does not like cats. He can be a little anxious and may show it by whining or howling, especially during transitions like after meals. He also likes to announce exciting things and unfamiliar noises with plenty of barking. But even when he’s feeling unsure, he’s always ready for the next adventure. He’s still working on his house training, but with his happy personality, love of people, and endless enthusiasm for life, this guy has so much potential to be someone’s very best friend. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate, energetic companion with a whole lot of personality, Todd just might be your guy! ❤️ If you are interested in finding out more about Todd, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Todd is being fostered in Millbury, MA. Meet Zorro! 🐾 Zorro came to BTR with his two brothers and as the runt of the litter, he learned early that if you want to be heard, you have to have the loudest voice. He is a timid little guy with an incredibly sweet personality. He may be shy at first, but he’s coming out of his shell more and more every day, and once he feels comfortable, he’s all about his people and some serious snuggle time. ❤️ Zorro needs slow, patient introductions to new people and can be especially fearful around men. He’s the type of pup who may bark first and ask questions later, especially when he’s unsure or nervous. He does best in a calm, quiet environment without a lot of loud noises or commotion. He’s working on his housetraining and making progress. When it comes to walks, Zorro does not do well with a collar and leash, but he does wonderfully with a harness. At bedtime, Zorro is a crate superstar! He sleeps comfortably in his crate overnight and is also very food motivated, which makes training a little easier. He loves squeaky toys, enjoys fetching them, and has perfected the art of following his foster mom around wherever she goes. 🥰 Zorro is a gentle, loving boy who just needs someone willing to give him the time and patience to build his confidence. In return, you’ll get a sweet companion who wants nothing more than to feel safe, loved, and curled up beside his person. Zorro would thrive with a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time—but watching him blossom will be so worth it! ❤️ If you are interested in finding out more about Zorro, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Zorro is being fostered in West Boylston, MA.
