We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. Meet Puppy. He's a sweet itty bitty boy. He does need some groceries and we have been giving him extras. He is very sweet, loves attention and he loves to be held and petted. He is a little shy at first meet but warms up and loves attention. This sweet little fella needs his own home so he can be spoiled. He’s about 1-1.5 years old and is getting the hang of potty training while he is here. He’s crate trained as well. Meet Dutch Say hello to Dutch! Dutch is a handsome Chihuahua / Dachshund (“Chiweenie”) mix who is approximately 4 - 4.5 years old and weighs 15 pounds. This sweet guy was found as a stray in south Texas near the border of Mexico. We aren’t sure how he found himself in that situation, but all of that is behind him now! He is just the nicest dog with the most wonderful disposition. Dutch has a great personality and loves everyone he meets. He is small, mighty and is eager to make new friends! He LOVES playing with his toys and gets along well with the other dogs in his play group here at the rescue. He has puppies and some youngsters in his group and loves to romp around with them. He does have an old injury in his back leg that really doesn’t slow him down. Our vet prescribed some arthritis meds and Dutch is doing very well with them so far. He is truly a happy, playful dog with a lot of love to share. He will be a loving and loyal companion, ready to go on a walk to explore the neighborhood or just curl up next to you on the couch to watch a movie. We just love this little bundle of personality and can’t wait for him to find his forever home! He is neutered, up to date on all shots, microchipped and his adoption fee is $400. The fee includes the transport cost. *Dutch tested positive for Chagas disease and has started his treatment. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs. Meet Opie Introducing Opie! Opie is an adorable Chiweenie (Chihuahua, Dachshund) mix who is approximately 2 to 3 years old and currently weighs 12 pounds. We rescued this cutie from the Weslaco shelter in south Texas near the border of Mexico. He was in a kennel with a couple other dogs and we believe Opie is the dad to some of the puppies. This little family came to the shelter as strays and we're so excited to have them here with us to help them find loving, forever homes! Opie is a sweet and social dog. He is VERY playful and happy. He enjoys playing with toys and IS VERY treat motivated. He is a very smart dog and learns new routines quickly. He is attentive and always ready for a fun adventure. We just love his little curly tail, too, which just adds to his charm. He is a wonderful size and will make a sweet companion for a family who has lots of love to share. He gets along well with the other dogs in his play group and he would have a great time having a little canine companion to romp around and play with. He is crate trained for his meals and for sleeping, but would be perfectly content to cuddle up with his people at night, too. He is just a wonderful little dude and we can really see him doing well in just about any family environment. He is such a fun dog who can’t wait for home and family of his own! Meet Laci Introducing Laci! Laci is an adorable Chihuahua / Dachshund “Chiweenie" mix puppy who is approximately 4 months old and currently weighs 5 pounds. We rescued her from the Weslaco shelter in south Texas, near the border of Mexico. We aren’t sure how she ended up there but we suspect that people have not always been very kind to this little cutie. Laci is a typical curious, playful puppy. She has a little bit of a warm-up period when meeting new people. But once she feels safe and knows you will be kind to her, she enjoys being held and loved on. As she continues to settle in here at the rescue, her little personality continues to emerge. We can tell the is all pretty new to her, but as she gets more and more used to her routine she has been doing well. We have no idea who mom and dad are, but do expect Laci to be in the 15 pound range full-grown based on her current age and weight. Laci is just a darling little puppy and we can really see her doing well in a quieter home without small children that can give her time to learn how cool it is to live in a home with a loving family, where she can be the best puppy she can be.
