Adoptions are scheduled by appointment only after an application has been filled out and approved. If you are interested in adopting, please download an adoption application from our website TORescue.org and submit over to us. Please do not visit any shelters or rescue groups prior to coming to ours. We do this to keep our animals healthy and prevent diseases from entering our rescue. Marty is a special-need purebred Chow Chow. He was an orphaned bottle baby at one week old. He is generally a sweet boy but is prone to outbursts when agitated. Because of this, he sees a veterinary behaviorist and is on Zoloft to ease his anxiety. The medication has helped quite a bit, and his fosters have seen a considerable difference in his behavior. Marty needs to be in a home where he is an only pet and with no small children. With the right home, he has the potential to be a sweet and loyal companion. His foster has also agreed to pay for his following two behaviorist appointments to assist with acclimation into his new home. Please consider giving this beautiful boy a loving forever home. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Winston was found as a stray and wound up in a shelter. We don't know how it happened, but this beautiful boy had a broken right front leg. We rescued him and had surgery done to fix his leg. His "special need" is that he's got a fair amount of hardware in that leg and will be unable to engage in serious contact sports like agility and flyball. While we think he'd love the running aspect of either, we've never known a chow to take either very seriously, so we aren't too concerned about that. However, it also means that, while he's a great walking and hiking partner, serious running isn't in his future.  Winston has had some obedience training and is doing well on leash walking (though there's room for improvement) and is even better on sit and other cues.   He has been going to daycare, where he especially likes the small dogs. He lives with a Chihuahua in his foster home and gets along great with her. He hasn't shown any signs of aggression, but boy is he eager to get to his food when it's put down. He had to be crated for three months after his surgery, and he did guard the food in his crate a little bit. But, when fed in an open space, he does fine. He is fine around other big dogs, but when they get too bouncy or playful, he takes offense and tells them so. So small dogs good, big dogs better avoided.  He'd do best in an adults-only home and needs to be where someone is home all the time or your neighbors won't mind some barking when you leave. Day care is also a great option for him. So, no apartments or condos, please. A fenced yard is optimal. We will consider other options but would much prefer a secure yard.  A kibble-only diet didn't suit his digestive system well, so he is on a diet of raw food (Steve's) and supplements. He loves treats. All kinds of treats. Coco is an Angel. She is a good dog and very very smart. She can get used to any new environment very quickly. She is house trained. Like any dog, she has a few faults. She has some separation anxiety that causes her to bite at doors, she will need some training for that. She is crate trained, I can provide you with two large crates for your use. As a chow chow she is very protective, she has been an amazing guard dog and protected me in many situations which I will forever be grateful for. She is a great emotional support dog and has supported me emotionally for quite some time now. As a chow chow, she has some aggressive tendencies, there are some rules that I can teach you on how to introduce her to new people. She is not good with dogs. She loves to run around, so if you have a backyard, like to go on adventures, hiking and nature stuff, she’s the dog for you.

OSKI is a shy yet also a happy-go-lucky guy! He is gentle, kind, and just wants that in return. He loves other dogs of all sizes and loves to run around and play, but he’s also respectful if they want space. He does well with cats too! His favorite thing to do is go for a hike while he carries a ball in his mouth. He LOVES toys. He also likes to be your sidekick and see what you are up to. Once he feels safe with you, he would like scratches behind the ears too! OSKI was saved from a dog-meat slaughterhouse in S. Korea that was shut down after an undercover investigation exposed the cruel and illegal operations there. A flight volunteer then brought him to the U.S. where he has been learning how to be a dog and he is now absolutely ready to find a home!
