McFlurry likes treats. McFlurry on the move. MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is McFlurry, and I arrived at CSAC about a month ago from a shelter. I have had a tough start. I was found stray, and I had a broken back leg. Everyone was amazed that I was walking around on it. I had it for so long, the bones could not mend back together so the vet suggested amputating the leg. Unfortunately, I had to wait for surgery to remove the leg. I had an upper respiratory infection and a skin infection around the area where my surgery was going to take place. No one wanted to put me in even more danger. The great vets kept me comfortable while I waited for the antibiotics to clear up the infections. I finally had the surgery to remove my broken leg. You can see I am on the mend and waiting to find my new, loving home. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will turn me into a happy, cherished pet. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen. 🐶 Looking for a Loving Home for Jake❤️ This is one of the hardest decisions I've had to make, but I'm looking to rehome my sweet boy, Jake, to a loving family. Jake is a young, friendly dog who loves people and does well with children. He's playful, affectionate, and has so much love to give. My hope is to find someone who has the time, attention, and space to give him the life he deserves. This decision was not made lightly, so I will be selective about where he goes. I want to make sure he's placed in a safe, responsible, and loving home. If you or someone you know is interested in giving Jake a forever home, please send me a private message. Serious inquiries only, please. Please share this post to help Jake find the perfect family. Thank you. ❤️🐾

Story
Albie had a beloved human for his whole life. Then, sadly, his owner went to hospice, and Albie was left almost entirely on his own for a while before he made his way to Miri's. In his foster home, Albie has been recovering from the trauma of all the changes and getting back to the cheerful, loving pup he was before. Albie loves people and gets along with other dogs and even cats. He would be fine living with an older child who can give him the space he needs to adapt. He is happy to go for leash walks (although he is still learning this skill) or car rides and generally sleeps through the night. Housetraining is still a work in progress, so he's rocking the belly band/potty pad scene for now. He does well when left home alone in his xpen to nap. It seems like Albie is unable to hear, and his vision is somewhat limited. He can walk up a few stairs, but not a staircase, and prefers to be carried down. He loves to eat and loves to get scritches under his ears and at the base of his tail. Loves to follow people around. He is not a snuggly guy and does not get on the furniture but he can be held for short periods. Albie would love a home with a fenced yard so he can wander around at his own pace and do some sniffing. He will need patient people who will help him continue to get over his fear and adjust to having more limited vision. Albie needs someone who understands that confidence doesn’t appear overnight, who will celebrate his tiny victories, keep working with him when the leash feels scary, and give him the patience to keep becoming the good boy he has always wanted to be. If that's you, apply today! Albie is approx 11 years old and 10 lbs. Fostered in Baltimore, MD. Please apply at mirishaven.org.

Story
Meet Angel! Angel is an absolute sweetheart and devoted shadow. Angel came to us after being surrendered by her owner's son, following her owner's passing. She arrived horribly matted, with bleeding warty masses, severely diseased teeth, and inches of dirty, tangled fur. She is feeling much better now! In her foster home, she has learned her name, where to line up for meals, and how to go up and down the stairs. Angel is a sweet girl who is doing so well with all the changes in her life. She is housetrained as long as she has pee pads available, and rides well in the car. She doesn't seem to have much experience with leashes, so she'll need a fenced yard at her new home. She is fine when left loose alone in the house and always sleeps through the night. Angel would like to be the one and only dog in her new home, so she can get all of the attention. She would do best in an adults only home or one with children old enough to respect her boundaries. She's hoping her humans are home a lot and want to give her lots of snuggles. When Angel first wakes up, she dances like she's excited to greet each new day. When she goes out to potty, she barks to let the world know that she's there and will be doing her business imminently. If Angel sounds like your perfect match, apply to meet her today! Angel is approximately 12 years old and 11 lbs. Fostered in Gaithersburg, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Bentley Continental is a sweet 12-year-old, 11-pound poodle mix looking for a quiet, loving home to spend his golden years. He is a gentle, happy couch potato who loves snuggling, rolling around in his bed, and being close to his person. He may be a senior, but he still celebrates his favorite things, especially his person coming home and mealtime, with adorable little bounces and zoomies. Bentley is good with dogs and cats, walks nicely on leash, and is friendly with adults. He can manage a few stairs but not a full staircase, and his hearing and eyesight aren't quite what they used to be. He hasn't been tested with children, but his foster thinks older, respectful kids could be a good fit. A home without young children would be best. He has kidney disease and needs to stay on a prescription kidney diet, but he is currently doing very well and doesn't require medication. His kidney disease causes him to drink and pee frequently, so he wears a belly band and doesn't mind it. He may also have the occasional overnight poop accident, so his family should be prepared for a little extra cleanup. He gets fortiflora in his food daily for this reason! Bentley does well free-range while his foster is at work, although he can get vocal when his person leaves again after coming home. This resilient little guy has continued to thrive in foster. Right now, Bentley is happy, enjoying life, and ready to spend it with someone who will love him just as much as he'll love them. Bentley is a 12 year 11 lb neutered male poodle mix Fostered in Baltimore, MD Please apply at mirishaven.org
