Story
It is hard to let go Willow but my kid and my nephew got a pet dander allergy. Aside from that, since my dad moved out, nobody is taking care of him anymore and I feel sorry for him. He deserves a family that can play with him anymore and it is not us that he can give that, unfortunately. He is sweet, loving, good with kids and other pets. Regarding his potty, I put unknown because we are the one that are inconsistent with his potty. We rarely bring him outside recently so he poop and pee in a certain part of the house. He does not like pads as he is just going to rip it but I put a rag/towel for poop and putting him on diaper for peeing. It is not him, as he does good with my dad taking care of him and letting him out every 4 hours. But since he is not with our house anymore, nobody is doing the same for him. I hope you can help us.

Story
Simba is a small adult dog with a sweet and loyal personality once he feels comfortable. He loves being around his person and enjoys a calm, structured environment. Simba is crate trained and does well with routine. He can be anxious in new situations and around unfamiliar people, which may cause him to bark or become defensive. He will likely bark quite a bit during the first few days as he adjusts to a new environment. Because of this, Simba would do best in a home with an experienced dog owner who understands how to give him time and space to adjust. He would do best in a home without small children. Simba would do best in a house rather than an apartment, as he can be vocal at times. A home without carpet is preferred. Simba has so much love to give and forms a strong bond with his owner. With patience, consistency, and the right environment, he can be a very loyal and rewarding companion. We are looking for a home that can provide him with stability.

Story
Patrick Poodle Mix Male Grey/Black 3 years old 21 lbs Meet Patrick: This sweet boy loves being close to his people, whether he's soaking up belly rubs or cuddling beside you on the couch. Patrick walks nicely on a leash and enjoys getting out and about, though he's more of a leisurely stroller than a long-distance hiking partner. He's only mildly interested in toys but is a big fan of a good bully stick to chew. He would be an excellent work-from-home companion who gladly curls up on your feet or under your desk. Patrick is generally a quiet dog and rarely barks, but he has made it clear that he would prefer to be the only dog in the home. He has struggled with sharing attention with another dog in his foster home and would thrive as the center of someone's world. Patrick knows a few basic commands; he'll even sit up on his hind legs while eagerly waiting for dinner, and would benefit from continued training to help channel his enthusiasm. Patrick is a loving, loyal companion who is happiest when spending time with his people. If you're looking for a charming little dog who wants to be your one and only, Patrick may be the perfect match. Please Note: **No children under 10!** If you are interested in adopting PATRICK, please visit our website at www.somersetcottagepoodlerescue.org to learn about our adoption process and download the adoption application, or click ADOPT ME! below. PATRICK's adoption donation is $795

PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Fill out the application and we will follow up with you! We will connect you to his foster! LOCATION: Foster home ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Sue B (sueb@homewardtrails.org) ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for this dog: $615 ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 55 lbs full grown now ESTIMATED AGE: 2 years approximately KNOWN WITH DOGS: Marley has met dogs of all sizes and said to do well. He’s a jumpy boy now that he’s off the streets and healing up, so he may need a more active friend. KNOWN WITH CATS: He’s seen them and not been too interested but has not met one yet in person. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Marley is great with people of all ages, but he can get jumpy when excited so he may knock small children over by accident! KNOWN COMMANDS: He knows his name and we are working on finding out what else he knows! KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Marley has done with crating. He is going to a foster home soon (6/17) and we’ll know more about his housebreaking habits then. But so far, he’s been doing great with crate training! KNOWN LIKES: Food, cuddles, walks, attention. KNOWN DISLIKES: He has not shown any real dislikes. But now that he’s off the streets, we imagine he would hate to be back there – so chalk that up to his only dislike! ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Marley has had a hard life up until recently with so much loss. For months, he was seen wandering around is rural town with his best dog pal – looking dirty and skinny and no one knowing if he had an actual home. Sadly, his best dog buddy was killed by a car recently and while Marley stuck hear him, a kind passerby grabbed him and noticed how dirty and skinny he was. Thankfully, HT was able to jump in and agree to pay for an immediate vet visit – and we are SO GLAD we did. This boy was so filthy and had a life-threatening corn cob stuck in his intestines, which would have killed him very soon. We got his emergency surgery covered and found him temporary boarding until we could find a local DC foster home for him. During his time in boarding, we got this wonderful report on him: Marley is a wonderful boy. He does well in his crate. He is a bit of a jumper when he wants something or gets excited so he’ll be an excellent candidate for positive training! He walks well on a leash.  He is food motivated. He has seen cats and not barked at them but not met one yet in person. He’s such a sweet, resilient boy and given all that he has been through, he has remained sweet to everyone he meets. Marley will benefit from training and a family who can love him the way he deserves so that he can put his sad days behind him. HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines and de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: - Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) - Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) - Best Paws Forward Training Program – HT adopters ONLY ***A portion of EVERY ADOOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities ***BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.
