Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Dezi is from Texas. She was surrendered by her previous owners in Texas and brought into rescue with Ruff Start.  This sweet girl is already leash trained and crate trained.  Dezi likes a crate to use as "Her spot", and will willingly go there when she feels overwhelmed, but she really loves her humans and prefers to be with them all the time.  Her current texan foster family lets her sleep with them and that's what Dezi truly prefers.  Dezi is also potty trained, but we always expect some regression during periods of change.  If kept on a consistent schedule of potty breaks and kenneling when gone she should be back on track right away.   Dezi was a bit skeptical of her current foster family when she arrived.  She was pretty aloof for a bout 4 days and then she woke up that fourth day and decided.. these guys aren't so bad after all.  Once she picks her person she is very affectionate. She bonded with her foster mom immediately, but will avoid her foster Dad and most other men. She sometimes barks at her foster Dad as if she is protecting Mom, but he just ignores her. It is all bark only.  Dezi's whole world is her foster mom.  She is absolutely a people pleasing velcro pup after that decompression time.  Dezi has not been tested with Kitties yet, so slow intros and keeping any resident kitties safe would be advised.  Dezi has also not been around children, but older respectful kids would probably be just fine.   If you're looking for a four legged partner in crime, she's your girl!  If you think that Dezi sounds about as perfect as she can get, go fill out an adoption application today!  She can't wait to meet you!   Dezi is from Texas If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Angus is from Texas.  He was found there, wandering the streets of Houston, and brought into rescue after his stray hold was up.  Angus was in pretty good  condition when discovered, "just a little stinky" his texan foster mom said.     Angus is a sweet sweet boy who absolutely loves his humans.  He has not been tested with cats nor with kids, but given his temperament,  there's  no reason to  think  he  wouldn't  do well with older respectful children.  He was fostered with many other dogs in Texas, he was fine with little dogs, but it takes  him  a while to acclimate to new larger dogs. (larger being anyone bigger than him.. lol) Angus is mostly potty trained, but will need some patience and a consistent routine as he settles into his new home.  There is always a bit of regression with change, but he has a solid foundation of potty training for you to work with.  Angus is crate trained, and will sleep there quietly through the night.  He is also leash trained, but  polishing  up those leash manners when he gets to his new home is a must.     Angus is looking for a home that will treat him like family.  He wants long walks through your  neighborhood, stopping to sniff everything along the way.  Angus loves his toys almost as much as his humans, and always takes a good nap after the excitement.   If you think this sweetheart sounds like the perfect fit for you, please fill out an adoption application today.. he can't wait to meet you!     They arrive in Minnesota on 2/20/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30 am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
