Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Layla — A Gentle Soul Learning to Trust   Layla is a sweet but shy girl who’s just beginning to discover what it means to truly be a dog. Until recently, she lived in a breeding facility — one of those “moms behind the curtain,” raising litters of puppies adored by many, while her own world stayed small and lonely.   Now safe and loved in foster care, Layla is slowly finding her footing in this big new world. After two months, she’s finally comfortable lying in the same room as her human and, with some gentle encouragement, comes over for soft pets. Progress is happening — it’s just at her pace.   Layla’s journey reminds us that healing takes time. There’s no magic switch to make her a “normal” dog overnight. She needs a family that understands this — one that will offer patience, compassion, and space while celebrating every little victory along the way.   Because of her shyness, Layla will thrive best in:   A calm home with no small children A fenced yard, so she can explore safely A confident dog friend, to show her the ropes and help her feel secure A Note About Safety and Flight Risk   During her first month in foster care, Layla was a significant flight risk. Once she got outside into her fenced yard, there was no getting her back in — she would hide behind trees and go straight into flight mode. For that reason, her future family must be extremely cautious and understand she will need a long lead when outdoors, even within a fenced area. Her foster mom can provide detailed guidance on how to help Layla feel safe, build trust, and learn how to calmly come in and out of the home.   Everyday Challenges   Layla is still working on mastering everyday dog skills. She hasn’t yet learned how to navigate stairs — a single step down she can manage, but multiple steps, such as those on a deck or inside a home, are still too overwhelming for her right now. With time, patience, and encouragement, she may overcome this.   One of Layla’s quirks: she won’t eat from a bowl. It’s a reminder of her past — when bowls likely meant stress or fear. Her foster mom hand-feeds her by scooping her food into her kennel, and Layla happily gobbles it up! She’s also a bit picky about her meals, but her foster can share all the details.   Layla may be a “designer breed,” but she’s also a survivor — a gentle heart ready to learn that love can last forever. With understanding and time, she’ll blossom into the loyal companion she was always meant to be.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? 💜 Come meet me at our Adoption Event at Forgotten Star Brewing in Fridley on Saturday, 2/14 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm! 💚 Age: Estimated DOB 5/8/25 Weight: 25 lbs Dog friendly: Yes, requires companion dog in the home Cat friendly: Unknown/not tested Kid friendly: Yes Potty trained: Very close! Crate trained: Yes ***Needs companion dog in home*** Hi, my name is Elroy! I’m an energizer puppy who goes and goes and goes! When I finally slow down, I love curling up in a cozy, safe spot—especially the corner behind my foster’s chair. I’m still learning how to be a puppy, so I sometimes need reminders about what is okay to nibble and what’s not. I absolutely love the snow, and I’m very smart too—I’ve already learned how to ring a bell when I need to go outside! Adoption Fee: $695

Age: 2 years Weight: 17 lbs Dog friendly: Yes, requires another dog in the home Cat friendly: Unknown Kid friendly: Unknown Potty trained: Working on it, but close! Crate trained: Yes, does well in the crate when left alone **requires another dog and a fenced yard in the home** Hello! Do you remember Georgie Porgie...kissed the girls and made them cry? Yep, that's me. I am a sweet, affectionate, goofy, mini poodle who loves and wants to please his people. When I wag my tail, my body shakes and it brings smiles and laughter to those around me. I enjoy toys, back rubs and cuddling. I'm usually a quiet, reserved guy who doesn’t cause trouble. Couches are great. I can be afraid of noises and new things but I am learning to understand and trust my world. I know the sit and come commands. This Minnesota weather has been a challenge for me and am looking forward to warmer weather. I would benefit from obedience training (I am still a puppy at heart). I am a good dog and will bring an abundance of smiles and happiness. P.S. I quickly learned where they kept the cookie jar Love, George Adoption fee: $695

💜 Come meet me at our Adoption Event at Spike & Houles in Stillwater on Sunday, 3/8 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm! 💚 Age: 7 years old Weight: 40 lbs. Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: unknown but likely fine Kid friendly: calmer & older kids ok Potty trained: yes Crate trained: no Patch is a sweet senior Cocker Spaniel who may have had a rough start in life, but he’s more than ready to spend his golden years exactly where he belongs — cuddled up on a cozy couch next to his favorite person. This handsome boy loves a good routine. His ideal morning? A quick potty break in the yard followed by a short walk to sniff the world and maybe chase a few leaves (one of his favorite hobbies!). Patch is living in a home for the very first time, and he’s doing an amazing job learning the ropes. He hasn’t had accidents and thrives on a consistent schedule. He’s still figuring out how to tell his people when he needs to go out, but with structure, he does great. Patch absolutely loves toys and enrichment activities — they make his little heart so happy! Because of that, he can be a bit protective of his treasures. He would do best in a home with older children or adults who understand how to respect his toys and personal space. Patch is a sensitive, anxious soul who bonds deeply with his people. He would thrive in a home with another calm dog companion or with someone who is home most of the time and can offer him the companionship he craves. He can be left alone for short periods, and with patience, he may be able to build up to longer stretches over time. This snuggle bug loves bedtime as much as playtime — he sleeps with his foster in bed, or sometimes in his dog bed right next to the human bed if he gets warm. He is not crate trained and shows signs of past trauma or strong discomfort with crates. One is always available for him if needed, but he prefers to sleep and relax freely. When he’s excited, Patch wiggles his whole butt and does the cutest little happy dance just for you. He loves pets, attention, and being close — truly happiest right next to his person on the couch. Patch is curious about car rides and new adventures. He’s still a little nervous in the car but is excited about the idea of exploring new places with someone he trusts. Adoption fee: $595
