Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Layla — A Gentle Soul Learning to Trust   Layla is a sweet but shy girl who’s just beginning to discover what it means to truly be a dog. Until recently, she lived in a breeding facility — one of those “moms behind the curtain,” raising litters of puppies adored by many, while her own world stayed small and lonely.   Now safe and loved in foster care, Layla is slowly finding her footing in this big new world. After two months, she’s finally comfortable lying in the same room as her human and, with some gentle encouragement, comes over for soft pets. Progress is happening — it’s just at her pace.   Layla’s journey reminds us that healing takes time. There’s no magic switch to make her a “normal” dog overnight. She needs a family that understands this — one that will offer patience, compassion, and space while celebrating every little victory along the way.   Because of her shyness, Layla will thrive best in:   A calm home with no small children A fenced yard, so she can explore safely A confident dog friend, to show her the ropes and help her feel secure A Note About Safety and Flight Risk   During her first month in foster care, Layla was a significant flight risk. Once she got outside into her fenced yard, there was no getting her back in — she would hide behind trees and go straight into flight mode. For that reason, her future family must be extremely cautious and understand she will need a long lead when outdoors, even within a fenced area. Her foster mom can provide detailed guidance on how to help Layla feel safe, build trust, and learn how to calmly come in and out of the home.   Everyday Challenges   Layla is still working on mastering everyday dog skills. She hasn’t yet learned how to navigate stairs — a single step down she can manage, but multiple steps, such as those on a deck or inside a home, are still too overwhelming for her right now. With time, patience, and encouragement, she may overcome this.   One of Layla’s quirks: she won’t eat from a bowl. It’s a reminder of her past — when bowls likely meant stress or fear. Her foster mom hand-feeds her by scooping her food into her kennel, and Layla happily gobbles it up! She’s also a bit picky about her meals, but her foster can share all the details.   Layla may be a “designer breed,” but she’s also a survivor — a gentle heart ready to learn that love can last forever. With understanding and time, she’ll blossom into the loyal companion she was always meant to be.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Story
Say HI to “ANA” whom we also call “Princess Ana”; you know the “Princess Anna of Arendelle” from the Disney’s movie “Frozen”? Sadly, Ana comes to us from a wonderful, loving couple who are experiencing the wife’s failing health. Ana is a beautiful black, Miniature Poodle who weighs a healthy 14 pounds, stands 13” tall (floor to withers) and was born November 26, 2022. Her sire is a CKC registered Champion, but Ana is not AKC or CKC registered. Not a problem as her high intelligence, outgoing personality and loving disposition certainly displays the characteristics of good breeding. Ana just LOVES attention. She loves men as well as women, will follow you around the house wanting to know what you’re doing and if she can help! Just sit down and she will immediately jump into your lap to give you kisses. Ana is a “Velcro” Poodle. But while I’m on the computer, she will lay patiently in a dog bed watching me. Doing the Poodle “zoomies”, playing with her toys or having you throw any toy/ball to play fetch (video) is also what this precious girl just loves to do. When friends or family come, she’s the first to meet and greet everyone so they will pick her up and love her. This is a quiet girl who rarely barks and is a perfect girl in our home (housetrained). While she has always been an only dog, she does enjoy playing with other dogs who want to play with her. Ana will come immediately when she is called, loves her toys, food, treats and greatly enjoys her daily 1-mile walk as then she can see more SQUIRRELS! *A SECURLY FENCED YARD will be required as Ana has always had one and will not relieve herself on a leash. *Preference will be given to a family with Poodle experience. BUT PLEASE: *NO aggressive or assertive dogs (they scare her and me). *NO young children. *Like most rescue groups, we do NOT adopt our Poodles to homes more than 1 day’s drive (round trip) from our location here in central Minnesota. Ana has been Veterinary checked healthy. She was recently spayed, teeth cleaned along with the removal of some baby teeth by our Vet. She is up to date on all of her vaccinations, worming and has been microchipped and registered. Her heartworm/Lymes/Ehrlich/ Anaplasmosis (4DX) test was negative. As with all the other cute Poodles we have adopted, Ana’s adoption fee is 1 million, trillion, zillion dollars. However, for the right family her adoption fee is $600.00 which includes $41.00 for our 7.375% Minnesota state sales tax and helps pay for some of her Veterinary expenses. Also included is her leash, collar, dog coat, a bag of quality dog food, dog food container, dog dishes, treats, various toys, a cute toy box, her wire crate, a soft dog bed with a blanket and lots of good information to help your Poodle’s adoption move forward on the right paw! Again, Ana is a very nice, smart and loving Poodle girl who wants and truly deserves a loving “forevermore” home.
