Ideal Home -Louie Suds has his heart set on a work-from-home situation where he has the company of a submissive canine buddy or two. -Louie must have slow, controlled introductions to new people and animals. He warms up quickly once trust is established. -He takes daily over-the-counter medication for his allergies. -Louie is still learning to tolerate the vet and the groomer. He takes medication prior to those appointments. -Louie has a cataract in one eye, but that doesn't slow him down! -A cozy spot at the foot of the bed is Louie’s happy place at bedtime. -Cats are too exciting for Louie–that prey-drive is strong. -He enjoys a yard and dog-door access for sunbathing and playtime. Personality -Louie Suds is the perfect combination of play, party, and rest. He enjoys his morning romp followed by a chill day as WFH supervisor. -He loves affection but isn’t overly needy. He’s content to share space without being in your face. -Louie finds certain things scary and will respond defensively. Therefore, he responds better to older children and adults who respect his concerns and work with him. -He will thrive with gentle love, consistent routine, and patience as he settles into the loving pup he wants to be. Are You Perfect for Louie Suds? Louie Suds’s adoption fee is $550. He is HW-negative, current on vaccinations and HW/flea preventatives, neutered, and microchipped. All adoption fees go toward expenses like medical costs and food for Doodle Dandy dogs and help make it possible for us to continue giving amazing pups like Louie Suds a second chance. Meet Shawn – A Gentle Soul Learning to Trust  Shawn is a 6-year-old Maltese/Poodle mix with a tender heart and a whole new world waiting to be discovered! Shawn is a sweet little fellow who is learning that life can be full of good things, like warm hugs, tasty treats, a soft place to rest, and people who genuinely care about him. He's a quieter more cautious little guy and while he may take a little longer to warm up, his foster mom is already seeing the affectionate dog hiding beneath that shy exterior. At first, Shawn would occasionally growl when something made him uncomfortable. He wasn't showing his teeth, but he was communicating that he needed a little space. His foster mom has learned that he doesn't particularly like sudden movements and prefers a calm, gentle approach. As he's become more comfortable in his new surroundings, his sweet personality has begun to shine through. He now happily accepts hugs and affection from someone he trusts! Shawn is making wonderful little strides every day. He's developing good eating habits, enjoying treats, and making encouraging progress with potty training. He's even learned to use the doggy door all by himself! He's also discovered how much fun it can be to run around the backyard! Toys are still unfamiliar to him, and leash training hasn't begun yet, but every new experience is helping him build confidence and discover the joys of being a dog. Shawn isn't crate trained, and his future family should be prepared to continue working on potty training and helping him learn the routines of a loving home. He's also quite the little backyard watchdog when squirrels make an appearance! Because Shawn is sensitive to quick movements and unfamiliar situations, we believe he would do best in a quieter, patient household, ideally with adults or older, gentle children who understand how to give a dog time and space to feel comfortable. His compatibility with cats is unknown. Shawn may not be the dog who rushes into your arms the moment you meet him, but give him time, kindness, and a little patience, and you just might discover a very special friendship.For someone who finds joy in helping a shy dog build confidence and learn to trust, Shawn could be an incredibly rewarding companion. Meet Gumbo – A Little Love Bug with a Big Heart!  Gumbo is a 6-year-old Maltese/Poodle mix who is discovering just how wonderful life can be when you're surrounded by love! Gumbo is a sweet, affectionate little guy who absolutely adores his people. If there's an opportunity to be held, cuddled, or showered with attention, Gumbo is first in line! He's the more outgoing of two brothers and has quickly formed a special bond with his foster mom. He's a little love bug who wants nothing more than to be close to someone who loves him. But with good food, gentle care, and plenty of affection, Gumbo is beginning to blossom! He's making encouraging progress with potty training and has already learned how to use the doggy door! Gumbo is discovering the joy of spending time outside, and one of his foster mom's favorite things is watching him run around the backyard doing happy little zoomies! Toys are still a mystery to him, but he's learning to enjoy treats, explore his surroundings, and soak up all the attention he can get. Gumbo isn't crate trained yet, and leash training will be another new adventure. He can also be quite vocal, whether he's alerting everyone to squirrels in the yard or letting his foster mom know he'd like some attention. Because he's become so attached to her, he sometimes whines when she leaves, although he does settle down after a while. His future family will need to be patient as he learns to feel secure and comfortable spending time on his own. Gumbo may be a good fit for a family with gentle, respectful children, although his interactions with children and cats haven't yet been evaluated. A home where someone has plenty of time for affection, consistency, and positive reinforcement would be wonderful for him. Gumbo doesn't need a perfect home. He needs a loving one where he can continue learning, growing, and discovering all the wonderful things he's been missing.
