Story
Welcome to Camp Cocker, Lumi! *Lumi is being fostered in Orange County Lumi is a young male Cocker Spaniel puppy rescued in Korea after suffering severe bilateral eye damage at a very early age. Due to the extent of his injuries, both eyes had to be surgically removed to save his life. Despite undergoing a major surgery at such a young age, Lumi has shown remarkable resilience, adaptability, and emotional strength. He has recovered extremely well and is currently thriving in foster care. Though completely blind, Lumi navigates his environment confidently using sound, scent, and memory, and he lives a happy, playful puppy life with minimal limitations. Lumi’s personality is best described as brave, affectionate, and joyful. Despite being blind, he is not fearful and shows strong confidence in new environments once he learns spatial cues. He bonds deeply with humans and responds quickly to familiar voices. Lumi enjoys physical affection, playtime, and being close to his caregivers. His foster reports that he behaves like any other happy puppy — curious, playful, and loving. He recently traveled with his foster family during a holiday visit and interacted positively with another Cocker Spaniel, showing strong social skills. “Lumi doesn’t act like a blind puppy. He comes when called, wags his tail when he hears familiar voices, and plays confidently. He has no fear — only curiosity and trust.” Accommodations for Lumi should include: • Home should remain relatively consistent in layout • Verbal cues are important and effective • No stairs or dangerous drop-offs without barriers • Otherwise, Lumi requires no extraordinary care. He is expected to live a full, happy, and active life. Lumi's journey began with severe trauma, but his future is filled with promise. He is living proof that blindness is not a limitation when love, care, and opportunity are provided. Lumi brings joy, resilience, and warmth to everyone he meets — and he will make a deeply rewarding companion for a family willing to see the world through his courage. Lumi’s case is a powerful example of how early intervention, proper medical care, and a nurturing environment can allow even a severely injured puppy to flourish. Cocker Friends Korea is grateful for Camp Cocker Rescue’s continued partnership and support in helping dogs like Lumi find futures defined not by their injuries, but by their strength Lumi is 8 months old as of February 2026. ** Please note that any age provided is only an estimate, based on veterinary examination. ›>› CAMP COCKER RECOMMENDS: For current status, updates, photos, videos & details about Lumi, please visit his webpage at https://www.campcocker.com/dog/lumi-2026 & also follow our social media. *Lumi is being fostered in Orange County APPLY TO ADOPT Lumi at www.campcocker.com/adoption-process #CampCockerLumi

>>> Elsa is: Sweet, playful, and enjoys people she knows & other dogs, and she's potty trained! >> FOR THE MOST CURRENT STATUS - availability, updates, photos, and videos - follow #CampCockerElsa on her webpage at www.campcocker.com/elsa and our social media on Facebook & Instagram. ELSA IS BEING FOSTERED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ELSA'S STORY: Elsa is a beautiful adult female Cocker Spaniel. Presumed to be a hit-by-car dog, she was rescued from the LA County Carson Shelter on 1/11/24, and taken directly to the VCA in anticipation of orthopedic surgery. Elsa was picked up by animal control with duct tape wrapped around a fractured leg. :( The shelter sent her to an outside vet for x-rays and removal of the duct-taped bandages, which were replaced with a soft cast while she awaited further treatment. Elsa saw a surgical specialist who repaired her radial ulna fracture, and she is now receiving post-op therapy in her foster home with Hershey & Violet. Elsa has been sweet and friendly with her foster siblings - as well as her care providers. What a good girl! Her age estimate* is about 7-9 years old, and she weighs about 22 pounds. Elsa exhibits some stranger danger (being disturbed by, and barking at people on the street, people she doesn't know) and also has separation anxiety. She'll need some focused training with a force-free trainer to help her with these issues. Don't miss the video of Elsa on her first pack walk in the park with her foster siblings Hershey and Violet (in her wheels)! *Please note that any age provided is only an estimate, based on veterinary examination. >> APPLY TO ADOPT ELSA at Camp Cocker Rescue: www.campcocker.com/elsa ELSA IS BEING FOSTERED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Be sure to check out other available dogs at www.campcocker.com/available-dogs THANK YOU FOR GIVING RESCUE & SHELTER DOGS A CHANCE!
