Story
Hi there! My name is Betty and I'm a 3-year-old Smooth Collie/Shepherd mix at the Santa Barbara Campus. Betty is the kind of girl who may not rush up to say hello right away — but once you earn her trust, you’ll discover the sweetest, gentlest companion by your side. She’s looking for a patient family that understands that some of the best friendships take a little time to grow. After being surrendered when her family moved and couldn’t take her along, Betty is learning how to navigate big changes and new environments. She can be timid and easily startled at first, so she’ll thrive with adopters who are willing to let her settle in at her own pace and show her the world isn’t such a scary place after all. Once comfortable, Betty’s loving personality starts to shine. She has lived with children and done well, and while her experience with other dogs has been limited, she has had positive interactions with a small dog in the past. She’s a soft-hearted, sensitive girl who would love a calm home where she can build confidence, enjoy quiet companionship, and finally feel safe enough to fully blossom. If you have a gentle heart, a little patience, and room on your couch for a shy sweetheart, Betty may just be your perfect match. Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Need some supplies? Both SB Humane Campuses have retail centers stocked with everything you need, at comparable prices, and your purchase helps support our mission. Hope to see you soon!
