Story
Meet Frankie! Frankie came to us from the Humane Society of Imperial County on October 24th. He is 8 years old and weighs 47 lbs. Frankie is very friendly and loves to play with toys. The only thing he loves more than playing with toys is getting belly rubs! Frankie gets along well with other dogs and enjoys being in a play group with his Frosted Friends. Frankie is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling with his play yard pal Nanette (see video). His Fling Mom shares: "If you are looking for an active, energetic, sweet, loving goofball who makes you laugh every day, adopt Frankie! Shelter life has not broken his spirit and he would really thrive in a home! PERSONALITY: 1. High energy 2. Shares beds, bones, and toys with his playmate 3. Playful and curious. 4. Very mouthy (love bites) towards his playmate and your arm when you grab his collar, but can easily be redirected with a toy or bone or he will just melt into a puddle on the floor for belly rubs. When he starts with the love bites on me, I close his mouth and tell him no. He quits within seconds. 5. Door dasher tendencies. We are working on this with extra barriers, firm "Stay" commands, and backing out the door. Ultrasonic Pet Trainer works well with him. 6. No separation anxiety issues (but, he is left alone with a playmate) and can be trusted to be left alone. 7. No fear of water and actually jumped into the tub after I got out. 8. Has not really barked (he will bark at playmate.) For front door activity, he will make a high-pitched whine that sounds like a song bird. TRAVELING: 1. Great in car, but please only crack the windows down 1-2 inches. He tried to crawl out a 4-inch opening. Also, please belt in his leash to back seat. 2. After pulling you for 1 block while walking, he will slow to your pace. He's only 47 lbs, so he is easy to handle. 3. If you're a less active pet owner, Adopt FFF Nanette with Frankie and they will wear each other out daily with play and WrestleMania. POTTY BEHAVIOR: 1. Housetrained and knows how to use magnetic doggie door. After 3 days of escorting him to the yard, I felt he was extremely secure (I have several fences and barriers) and gave him more freedom. He now goes to the door to be let out. DISCIPLINE/COMMANDS: 1. He knows the commands of "Sit", "Shake", "Fetch,"and "Go" 2. Loud claps get his attention for disciplinary actions. 3. He does respond to the name Frankie. SLEEP: 1. Sleeps through the night. 2. Equally loves couches, dog beds, your bed, and floors. FEEDING: 1. Great eater and should be time fed. 2. Will steal food if given an opportunity. 3. Will beg for food, can be reprimand to go or sit while you eat, but would appreciate your table scraps. 4. No medications required. 5. Never fights his playmate over food (or she is very tolerant when he eats her leftovers and shares lickings plates together. JUMPING: 1. He knows how to easily jump over a 36-inch baby gate, but I don't think he could scale a 6ft fence. He has never made an attempt to escape my yard. 2. He never jumps on people. 3. Jumps up to the table and countertops if there is food or treats available. GROOMING: 1. Sheds very little when petted. 2. Beautiful coat and skin."
