Story
Meet Riley, the 11-month-old puppy who runs on 90% affection, 10% snacks, and 0% understanding of why the vacuum is definitely out to get her. She’s got an amazing personality—sweet as sugar and determined to be a Very Good Girl™… even if she’s still figuring out what that actually means. Thankfully, the other dogs in the house are giving her daily “How to Dog 101” lessons, and she’s taking notes like her future depends on it. She’s a crate superstar, a leash-walking legend, and a full-time employee in the “Please Love Me” department. Riley has puppy energy for days, but we’re learning how to channel it into something other than spontaneous zoomies and enthusiastic tail smacks. All Riley really wants is affection. Like… nonstop. Forever. She’s basically a furry love sponge. If you’re looking for a sweetheart who’s eager to please and even more eager to snuggle, Riley is your girl. 🐶💛

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Forever Home Wanted: Meet Max! Max’s journey began with a kind stranger who saw a puppy in need and said, “Not on my watch.” A Good Samaritan found him, kept him safe, and cared for him while waiting for an owner to come forward. When no one ever did, we stepped in to help rewrite his ending. This Collie mix is the definition of a young, intelligent dog—bright, busy, and full of life. He sports a mostly black coat with a crisp splash of white on his chest and chin, like a perfectly placed design detail that says, yes, I really was born this handsome. Max is playful, social, and charming in that goofy puppy way that makes you laugh even when he’s launching himself into the air out of pure excitement. He loves people and wants to be part of everything you do. Because he’s still very much a puppy, continued training will be essential to help him grow into the thoughtful, well-mannered dog he’s already learning to become. His forever family should be committed to keeping that learning going. We can’t say for certain how Max feels about cats just yet, but we can confidently say chickens are not part of his social circle. And due to a lack of proper play etiquette with other dogs at this time, Max will do best as the only pet in the home. However, an experienced adopter who understands dog integration and resource-guarding behaviors may be considered. Max is the kind of dog who gets better every single day. With his intelligence, eagerness to please, and natural Collie instincts, he’s primed to be an incredible companion for the right person or family—one who enjoys play, structure, and a dog who will absolutely keep life interesting. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting Max, please visit www.LabradorsandFriends.org and submit an application. Let’s get this clever pup into the home he deserves, where the words “Good boy, Max” will be said often—and genuinely meant. Max is located in Southern California.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 15, 2025, 12:32 am

Story
How Blue arrived: Blue was brought in by his previous owner on November 15, 2025. Why Blue is the one for you:Meet Blue! Blue is an active, adventurous dog who loves getting out and about. As a herding breed, he'll thrive with a family familiar with the needs and quirks of herding dogs. The good news? Much of the training is already done-Blue is both leash-trained and potty-trained. He does well with respectful dogs, though he has no known history with cats. Blue can be a bit protective of spaces he considers important, so his new family should be prepared to help manage this resource-guarding behavior. Because of this, children in the home should be 5 years or older, and they'll need to be present during the meet-and-greet.Blue's heart is in the right place-he just needs a confident, understanding family to guide him. If you're ready to welcome this bright, energetic boy into your life, bring a leash and collar and take Blue home today! At SDHS:Blue has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Blue is now ready for his new home! Primary Color: Black Dapple Weight: 53.6 Age: 6yrs 6mths 4wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Spicoli was brought in by a community member on November 26, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you: Meet Spicoli! This playful pup cruised into our care as a stray, and we're still getting to know this handsome, bright boy. Spicoli is full of energy and enthusiasm-sometimes a little too much-which can show up as jumpy greetings or strong pulling on leash. With positive-reinforcement training, he learns quickly and loves engaging his busy brain. He can be sensitive with certain types of handling, so partnering with a fear-free veterinarian will help him feel confident during vet visits. Once he warms up, his fun-loving personality shines, especially when treats or activities are involved. Spicoli will thrive with a family who can offer him plenty of mental and physical enrichment. If you're looking for a spirited, trainable companion with a big heart and a bright mind, Spicoli might be your guy. At SDHS:Spicoli has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Spicoli is now ready for his new home!Excitable Dog: Spicoli requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Story
How this pet arrived: Santana was brought in by Humane Law Enforcement on May 21, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Santana - the smooth, soulful pup who's ready to rock your world! A little shy at first, Santana prefers a slow jam when meeting new people and places. Give him gentle vibes and calm energy, and he'll warm up faster than a guitar solo. This rockstar's heart is won with treats, toys, and a good game of fetch - he'll chase them with the enthusiasm of a lead guitarist hitting the perfect riff! Once Santana knows you, he'll trade his shy act for snuggles, pets, and all the affection he can give. Santana has had doggy friends in care, but a dog-to-dog intro on site is required to ensure he's a good match if you have a current dog in the home. Because he's a sensitive ballad at heart, he'd do best in a home without young kids under 12. With patience, love, and a steady beat, Santana could become your ultimate bandmate, cuddle companion, and best friend for life! Come meet this little rockstar today - he might just steal the spotlight in your heart! At SDHS:Santana has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home! Primary Color: Beige Secondary Color: White Weight: 56.8 Age: 6yrs 2mths 3wks
