Story
How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team. Why this pet is the one for you:Hi ya'all! My name is Jumbo and I am searching for my forever home! I have been in my wonderful Foster Home for over 5 months and would love to meet my forever family.Could that be you? My Foster Mom keeps telling me to be patient because she promises me that they are out there somewhere looking for a good boy like me!I AM a very good boy! I love to run and do zoomies in my giant yard. I also enjoy chasing squirrels and lizards! Not sure what I'd do if I caught them but the chase sure is fun!I am calm in the house and also like to chill with my hoomans, either in the house or in the yard.My Foster Mom thinks I'd be okay with other dogs when properly introduced. I do have a foster sister that I have lived with for a long time. She's more like my real sister as we lived together before being in Foster care. Oh, her name is Natasha! Anyway, about me, of course. My Foster Mom doesn't know if I've been around cats or kids. I'm a Heeler mix and am bred to herd. So kids older than 10 who can respect that trait would be fine.My Foster Mom is currently working with me on leash training and she says I'm doing good but suggests further training.I do stress out a little in a vehicle and don't like being in a crate. So going for quick short trips would help.I am a good boy in the house and don't have accidents as long as someone lets me out when I need to go. I take several naps during the day but sleep really good on my own bed at night.I am also good about detecting snakes! I will stand way back and bark and look at the house until my Foster Dad comes out and catches it. I know better than to mess with them!! My sister Natasha does the same thing with me! We're hero's in our Foster Home! Please consider adding me to your family. I'd really like to find my forever home! Could that be you?Thank you,Jumbo At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home! Story
Montana is a gorgeous, midsized Heeler mix who is the smartest pup this side of the Mississippi. She is ridiculously loyal to her people and gets the full body wiggles when you walk in that door. She is currently being fostered with several other dogs and is the welcoming committee. She is absolutely wonderful with all dogs. She is not alpha nor submissive, she is just fun and even the grumpiest of dogs end up playing with her. She would love an active home that offers regular walks, hikes or beach days. She is house trained and listens intently. She has gone through obedience training. She also loves to snuggle and chill on those rainy days.

Story
+++++COURTESY POST+++++ Meet Rusty Brown! This charming pup is around 2 years old and weighs around 50 lbs. Rusty Brown was rescued from the shelter by an owner who couldn't handle his energy level. He needs walks and to be exercised. His previous owner enrolled him in doggy daycare and training to help, but still couldn't provide him the home he needed. He's got a moderate energy level and is sweet and affectionate. Rusty Brown is believed to be a Cattle dog and Coonhound mix. He requires regular daily exercise to help with his outlet of energy. He loves a game of fetch and romping around in the yard with other canine friends. He's friendly with new people and kids. He's leash and crate trained. All he wants to do is play and knows basic commands and is highly food motivated. Rusty would do great with an active family looking for a loving pup to join in their fun! Could Rusty be the boy for you?

Story
Callie is a sweet, soulful pup with a heart full of love and a gentle spirit. She’s a cuddle bug who thrives on affection and enjoys nothing more than curling up next to her favorite human after a game of fetch or a romp in the great outdoors. She’s happiest off-leash in nature, where she can explore at her own pace—leash walks in busy areas can be overwhelming for her, but she’s a star on quiet trails and open hikes. Callie knows her basic commands and is eager to please. Callie does have separation anxiety, which is currently managed with Trazodone. She’s also shy and cautious at first, especially around men, but give her a few minutes and she’ll be your best friend tail wags and all. Despite her fears, she’s never shown any signs of aggression. She’s great with cats playful but gentle and would do well with a calm, older dog companion. Callie is looking for a calm, loving home where she can feel safe, be herself, and be part of the family.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.**Meet Paloma: The Snuggle Queen and Couch Connoisseur** Looking for a calm, loving, already-house-trained dog who won’t eat your couch or your shoes? Meet Paloma — your low-maintenance, big-hearted best friend with a few quirks and a whole lot of love to give. Paloma is the kind of dog who thrives in a quiet home with predictable routines. She’s not here for chaos, loud toddlers, or surprise parties. But if you're the type who wants a loyal sidekick to binge-watch crime shows, hang out while you garden, or go for easy walks, she’s your girl. Yes — Paloma has EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency) and a mild liver issue. BUT before you click away — here’s the deal: She just needs a daily enzyme sprinkled on her food and a liver supplement. That’s it. No needles. No drama. Plus, her current meds cost less than your monthly coffee habit. And she’s totally stable on her regimen — no mystery illnesses here. Paloma’s great with polite dogs, walks well on leash, and is fully crate and house-trained. She prefers calm energy, so rowdy puppies or wild playdates aren’t her jam. But if you want a chill vibe and a gentle spirit? She’s a total catch. Paloma’s been overlooked for far too long, but the truth is — she’s a gem. Quietly resilient, deeply affectionate, and perfectly imperfect in all the best ways. Apply to meet Paloma today — because love doesn’t always come wrapped in puppy chaos. Sometimes, it shows up wearing a doggy sweater and waiting patiently for someone to notice her.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 23, 2025, 12:47 am

Story
Coax and Jameson are six-year-old Aussie/Husky mix brothers, 65 lbs each, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. They were raised from an accidental litter and need a new home after their family moved and downsized following the arrival of a newborn. Outdoors They're high-energy, smart, and eager to please; indoors They're mellow, affectionate, and independent. Coax is the more expressive sibling, while Jameson is gentle and quiet. They alert to strangers near the home but are friendly on walks. They do well with similar-sized dogs and are good with smaller animals when supervised. Both have no history of aggression toward people or children. Jameson previously had a damaged tooth removed but has no current issues. Their last vet visit was 08/01/2025. They're healthy, playful companions looking for an active home. It is with a heavy heart that I need to rehome them. They are my my family- but the change in lifestyle is unfair to them.
