Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.MEET VERA! Vera is an adorable tri-color (smooth) collie mix. Estimated at a year old, she is 31 pounds, the perfect size for just about anyone (although she could stand to gain a few pounds). Vera is very affectionate and playful. She gets along great with other dogs and enjoys her cat friends. She would do fine with kids 6 and over, merely due to her gentle jumping skills. Vera is an angel in her crate; she appreciates getting a treat to go in and then sleeps all night, quiet as a mouse. She is also perfectly happy to be in her crate when you leave the house--although she does like to tell the story about the time when her foster parents forgot to lock her crate when they left. And what did she do with her freedom? Absolutely nothing. She was a very good girl. Vera is also a wonderful coworker. She has some playful puppy energy first thing in the morning and then settles into her dog bed and lets you get to work. Vera knows "sit" and is working on other basic commands. She does get excited and will jump to meet people, but she is making strides in learning to sit and wait for her pets and scritches. Vera is also getting used to the leash. She will try to back out of a regular collar, so a harness is a must--at least until she gets used to walking on a leash. Vera wants to be among people, so she isn't really trying to escape. She came to us after a life on the run, so she needs time to learn to trust her person and realize that the leash is her friend. Simply put: Vera is a medium-energy dog who will be an excellent pet for one very lucky family. Vera is up to date on her vet care, heartworm negative and on prevention. Hhpr.rescuegroups.org for the application. $300 adoption fee.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 25, 2024, 7:26 pm

Story
Valentino is the kind of dog that wants to be best friends with every person that he meets. He's been at CARE since May and while being in a noisy shelter for so long has been very stressful for him, he's also become a huge favorite of so many staff members and volunteers over that time, who love him for his winning personality and his big heart. He's been doing great in his foster home. This young lovable boy is learning so many things. He is potty trained and crate trained, and knows basic commands. Valentino is playful and fun! He loves his walks and is a big sniffer. He really loves it when you scatter treats on the ground for him to sniff around and find, which he always does because he is also so, so smart. He also loves to play with his stuffies, run around and is very good at all kinds of puzzles and training games. But Valentino's most favorite thing to do is to cuddle. He's a total lap dog, and you won't meet a dog that will appreciate your scratches and affection more. Valentino is starting training for dog reactivity, which he's unfortunately developed as a result of being in the stressful shelter environment for so long. Tasty treats and good things to sniff are key for this boy. Valentino will truly make the perfect best bud. He's so deserving, and he has so much love to give! Please consider giving Valentino his forever home!

Story
Each of our pets has a unique story, but they all share one thing in common: they need a loving, caring, and nurturing home to thrive in. One of these pets is Inga, a charming and affectionate girl who has been waiting for her forever home since February 2022. Inga is a lively and intelligent pup who adores outdoor activities such as running, hiking, and playing fetch. She has already mastered a few tricks and is housebroken, but she could use some guidance on remaining calm during car rides. To help her socialize with other dogs, Inga has been receiving training and will continue to receive lifetime training from our partner, Good Dog Enrichment and Training. Please come and meet this lovely gal and shower her with the love and care she truly deserves. With Inga by your side, you'll have a loyal and loving companion for life!

WE ARE A TX BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Iris - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! The Iris flower represents 'Hope, Trust, Faith and Wisdom'. A perfect name for me as I have hope for a new life, trust that YOU will be the one and the wisdom to have faith that my new family is reading this bio right now!! I am at the perfect age of 3 years. I'm still active and playful, ready to have a blast with you on our action packed adventures but out of that puppy destructive stage. I am a tad bit shy at first meet but if you have treats it only takes me a NY second (not even the whole minute) to show my true loving self. Oh and guess what? I'm already house trained!! I come in at only around 40lbs which is also perfect. I'm big enough for all those said adventures (and everything is an adventure to me!) but not so big that I take up the whole couch. And since I'm at my adult weight there's no guessing on how big I'll be, what you see is what you'll be getting!! I get on great with people both tall and small and the other foster pups here. I would do great with a playful sibling (2 or 4 legged variety) or as your one and only! My coat is on the shorter side with some fringes that would require just a few brushings a week for me to stay looking my gorgeous self. And you do know what that means don't you? Oh my yep, that leaves us lots of extra time to 'spoil me rotten'. That's my most favoritest time, you and me time!! Is there a piece missing in your life? Someone to always be by your side? Your cohort in crime? Oh my, that could be ME! Please fill out my adoption application and we can start having ALL this fun, ALL the time!!!

Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Gabriel came to us from a rural shelter in the Carolinas. This young dog had been seriously injured after being hit by a car. The impact broke his leg and caused his eye to pop out. Although veterinarians were able to save his eye, he wasn’t able to see out of it, so it eventually had to be removed. He has recovered quickly from that procedure as well as surgery to fix his leg. Although Gabriel is only a couple years old, he totally acts like a puppy. He is extremely curious, energetic, and playful, but also loves to snuggle. He adores playing tug, thinks chew toys are fantastic, and has a blast with stuffed toys and his Jolly Ball. Gabriel is doing great with potty training and is working on leash and crate manners. He’s a quick learner and knows sit, kennel up, and hush. He is goofy and can be rowdy, but he totally wants to be a good boy. Gabriel is good with dogs that like to play as hard as he does. He needs a home with a fenced-in yard. He’d be fine as an only dog or would have fun with a well-matched dog pal. He’d love a family who might be interested in dog sports or other fun activities and who will spend time continuing to teach him how to be a great dog.  Gabriel wants to play and wants to be loved and cuddled. He certainly deserves it after his traumatic experiences. He’s being fostered in the St. Louis area. ##1864447##

Good with dogs, Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Echo is a fun and smart heeler puppy. He thinks all toys are absolutely fantastic and his favorite things to do are eat, play, and sleep! He has loads of energy and thinks everything is a fun adventure. Echo is deaf and is working on hand signals to communicate. He’s very tuned in and already knows “sit” and “come.” He’s very food-motivated and is eager to continue his training education. Echo is good in a crate and is working on potty training. He needs an active home where someone will spend time with him, taking him exploring and helping him learn all sorts of things. Echo would probably love a playful buddy, but he’d also be great as an only dog. This handsome, clever pup is being fostered in Bluffton, South Carolina. ##1961172##

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Nancy is a young Australian cattle dog who would just love to sit on your lap and be cuddled all day. She’s smart and full of personality with spurts of play time then lots of chill time.  Nancy is about 3 or 4 years old. She is completely house trained and is excellent in her crate. She’s good on a leash and knows several commands including “sit” and “kennel.” She is particularly motivated if treats are involved! Nancy loves other dogs but can get pretty rowdy when she plays. She would be great with a dog buddy as long as the dog is accepting, playful, and not easily offended by silly antics. One of Nancy’s favorite things is to talk to all her favorite toys. Nancy needs a home with a fenced-in yard and would prefer someone who has herding dog experience. No kids under 10 please. Nancy is being fostered in the St. Louis area. ##1270950##
