Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Jesse, a young Border Collie about 2 years old, is up for adoption through the Midwest Border Collie Rescue in northern Illinois.  Jesse is a terrific boy who hasn't gotten the attention he should because he is a bi-color smooth-coat BC, which may seem unusual to some.  (However, smoothies are the best when it comes to coat maintainence, you should know!) Jesse is being fostered in northern Illinois and MWBCR says that he is truly a gem of a dog:  loyal, smart, loves to learn, gets along with all other dogs, not over-the-top in energy level, and with great house manners.  He's very treat and ball-motivated, which would seem to make him an excellent candidate for dog sports.   If you're interested in meeting or learning more about Jesse, please reach out to Midwest Border Collie Rescue about him. About 1 year old • Plymouth, IN Toby is an adorable young Border Collie mix with a heart full of love and a toy box full of favorites! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Slick is an adult Border Collie whose owner is faced with reducing the number of dogs she has, and so Slick is looking for a forever home.  His owner describes him: "Meet Slick, Slick is an incredible dog with so much love to give. He has a wonderful temperament and gets along beautifully with both dogs and cats. He has an impressive recall, enjoys being with his people, and is the kind of companion who settles into family life with ease. Slick is neutered, fully treated for heartworm, and is now heartworm negative. He has overcome that challenge and is healthy, ready to enjoy the life he deserves. Making the decision to seek a new home for Slick has been one of the hardest choices I've ever had to make. I care about him deeply and never wanted to rehome him. However, as I prepare to move out of my parents' home, I've had to face the reality that I simply have more dogs than I can realistically provide the time, attention, and resources each one deserves. Slick is not being rehomed because of any behavioral issues. He is a wonderful dog who has done absolutely nothing wrong. This decision comes solely from wanting what is best for him. He deserves a family that can give him more one-on-one attention, adventures, and the kind of life that is difficult for me to provide with so many dogs in my care. I am trying everything I can to find him the right placement before it ever comes to that. My hope is that he can find a loving home where he will be cherished as much as he is now, with the opportunity to truly thrive. This is a decision made entirely out of love. More than anything, I want Slick to have the life he deserves." NOTE: Slick will need a patient home that can help with his housetraining issues. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact alhargarten@gmail.com for more information about this pet.Meet Mongo!! Border Collie/Australian Shepherd Mix — Male, 2 Years Old Mongo is a beautiful red-and-white Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix weighing about 55 pounds. He was found roaming in Batesville, Indiana and picked up as a stray, so we don’t know much about his past. What we do know is that he’s social, affectionate, and eager to connect with both people and animals. Mongo is very interested in other dogs and cats and has not shown any aggression toward them. He is friendly with new people, adults, and children, and he loves attention. Because he doesn’t always realize his size and is prone to jumping up on people, he will need continued work on manners. For now, he may be best suited to families without very young children or older/frail individuals who could be knocked over. His energy level is moderate-high, but he still benefits from regular exercise and structure. He enjoys walks, is good on a leash, and does best with several outings a day to run off some energy. Mongo is crate trained, still learning his house manners, and shows a lot of potential as he continues adjusting to home life. He is being fostered in Westville, Indiana.  Please contact alhargarten@gmail.com if you have questions about Mongo.      *** The potential adopter will get a refund on the Application Fee if it’s determined by the Foster Parent that the foster dog is not a good match for the applicant and we do not process their application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Riccwat@aol.com for more information about this pet.Meet Danny!! Danny is a 10-month-old male dog who is currently in a foster home and working on basic skills. He is getting better at fetch and dropping the ball. He is also practicing “sit” and “wait.” Danny goes on multiple walks a day and currently uses an Easy Walk harness while he continues to work on leash manners. He is intelligent, eager to please, playful, goofy, affectionate, even-tempered, a bit skittish, and housetrained. Danny has playful puppy energy and would likely enjoy having a dog buddy who can help give him more activity. In his foster home, he plays with an older doodle and can be redirected when play gets too intense. He benefits from activity, structure, and continued training. A very active senior could handle Danny as long as they are prepared for his energy and ongoing training needs. Danny can be cautious when meeting new people. In foster care, he approached a woman and wanted to be petted, but he was not ready to make contact with a man. He has not met children or cats yet. Because Danny can be enthusiastic during play, a home with medium or larger dog friends may be the best fit. The foster reports that he is not as good with their 13-pound dog because he does not yet understand that he cannot play full out with smaller animals. The foster also notes that he is intelligent and may figure this out with time, training, and supervision. Danny does well in his kennel overall. He may bark at first when left alone, but he settles down and has not been destructive. Toys and enrichment help keep him occupied. He is not afraid of water and jumps right into the wading pool. He sees geese and deer daily and still usually barks at them; he is getting acclimated, but if he is out on a walk, he wants to chase. Danny would benefit from an adopter who can continue working with him on training, exercise, and manners. We are still getting to know Danny so stay tuned for updates!! He is being fostered in Springfield, IL. Please contact riccwat@aol.com if you have questions about Danny.       *** The potential adopter will get a refund on the Application Fee if it’s determined by the Foster Parent that the foster dog is not a good match for the applicant and we do not process their application.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 4, 2026, 3:59 pm

Story
We’re not sure about Veronica’s backstory, but we know that she’s likely been through a lot. It seems as if someone wasn’t always very nice to her because she shuts down in some situations. But she does want to be right with her person, following closely on their heels. We think Veronica is about 6 years old. She is a gorgeous Australian shepherd with a gentle personality. While she is recovering from heartworm treatment, she still has energy and wants to play.  Veronica is deaf and has limited vision. She’s very smart and has learned several touch commands including “good girl” and “come.” She is learning to walk nicely on a leash and is housebroken. She sleeps nicely in her pen overnight. Veronica would do best in a home with a friendly dog to help give her confidence. She does not like being left alone for very long, so she’d love someone who is home most of the day. She’d love an active person because she loves to explore and go on adventures. She’d prefer a physical, fenced yard to keep her safe. This sweet, beautiful Aussie is being fostered in the St. Louis area.  ##2378212##

Story
Nancy is a young Australian cattle dog who would just love to sit on your lap and be cuddled all day. She’s smart and full of personality with spurts of play time then lots of chill time.  Nancy is about 3 or 4 years old. She is completely house trained and is excellent in her crate. She’s good on a leash and knows several commands including “sit” and “kennel.” She is particularly motivated if treats are involved! Nancy loves other dogs but can get pretty rowdy when she plays. She would be great with a dog buddy as long as the dog is accepting, playful, and not easily offended by silly antics. One of Nancy’s favorite things is to talk to all her favorite toys. Nancy needs a home with a fenced-in yard and would prefer someone who has herding dog experience. Nancy has trouble navigating stairs and needs a home with no steps. No kids under 10 please. Nancy is being fostered in the St. Louis area. Please fill out an application: https://www.speakrescue.com/pre-adoption-form ##1270950##

Story
Some dogs are easy. They love everybody and everything and have no quirks or issues. But doesn’t that make life kind of boring? Brayleigh is anything but boring. This girl was found as a stray roaming the streets of Texas. She had raging skin and ear infections and barely any fur. She’s also blind and deaf. But Bray is a strong and sassy survivor. With help from our vet care team, she had regular medicated baths and her beautiful coat started to grow in. Then she was a trooper and had dual luxating patella surgery. Through it all, Bray has remained true to herself. She’s very complex: She doesn’t like strangers and abhors men, but likes female humans and male dogs. Once she makes friends, she’s very sweet, affectionate, and playful … as long as you don’t try to brush out her mats or clip her nails. She’s gone through a lot in her 5-6 years and she knows what she doesn’t like! Bray loves to play, but is also content to lie down near her person. She isn’t terribly Velcro, but she does like to know where her human is. She likes to play with toys or just carry them around. We’re guessing she maybe didn’t have any her whole life, so now she will sometimes fall asleep with a toy in her mouth. It’s pretty adorable. Bray’s DNA test shows she’s a mix of Australian shepherd, Australian koolie, Australian cattle dog, and shar-pei. She’s a great size at just about 25 pounds. She’s good on a leash, great in a crate, and will potty outside if it’s dry or inside on a pad. She knows the touch command for “come” and is pretty convinced that’s all she needs to know right now. Brayleigh will need a very specific home with just a patient woman or women, preferably someone who has had experience working with “interesting” dogs. She’d probably prefer to be an only dog, but could live with a laid-back male canine sibling. Bray also needs a fenced-in yard for safety and would prefer someone home most of the time, although she is good on her own. She can be left uncrated and will use her potty pad and isn’t the least bit destructive. Brayleigh has allergies so she needs regular shampooing and brushing, daily medication, and weekly injections. Yes, she has many issues and can be difficult and stubborn. But don’t we all? It’s going to take a very special person to adopt this very special girl. But Brayleigh is so lovable, it’s worth the time it takes to get to know her. Plus she gives the biggest and best sloppiest kisses.
