Story
Nancy is a young Australian cattle dog who would just love to sit on your lap and be cuddled all day. She’s smart and full of personality with spurts of play time then lots of chill time.  Nancy is about 3 or 4 years old. She is completely house trained and is excellent in her crate. She’s good on a leash and knows several commands including “sit” and “kennel.” She is particularly motivated if treats are involved! Nancy loves other dogs but can get pretty rowdy when she plays. She would be great with a dog buddy as long as the dog is accepting, playful, and not easily offended by silly antics. One of Nancy’s favorite things is to talk to all her favorite toys. Nancy needs a home with a fenced-in yard and would prefer someone who has herding dog experience. Nancy has trouble navigating stairs and needs a home with no steps. No kids under 10 please. Nancy is being fostered in the St. Louis area. ##1270950##

Story
Gabriel came to us from a rural shelter in the Carolinas. This young dog had been seriously injured after being hit by a car. The impact broke his leg and caused his eye to pop out. Although veterinarians were able to save his eye, he wasn’t able to see out of it, so it eventually had to be removed. He has recovered quickly from that procedure as well as surgery to fix his leg. Although Gabriel is only a couple years old, he totally acts like a puppy. He is extremely curious, energetic, and playful, but also loves to snuggle. He adores playing tug, thinks chew toys are fantastic, and has a blast with stuffed toys and his Jolly Ball. Gabriel is doing great with potty training and is working on leash and crate manners. He’s a quick learner and knows sit, kennel up, and hush. He is goofy and can be rowdy, but he totally wants to be a good boy. Gabriel is good with dogs that like to play as hard as he does. He needs a home with a fenced-in yard. He’d be fine as an only dog or would have fun with a well-matched dog pal. He’d love a family who might be interested in dog sports or other fun activities and who will spend time continuing to teach him how to be a great dog.  Gabriel wants to play and wants to be loved and cuddled. He certainly deserves it after his traumatic experiences. He’s being fostered in the St. Louis area. ##1864447##

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Ellen – Your Sweet Shadow Ellen is a gentle, tricolor Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix who’s about 9 years old. Petite at just 35 pounds, she’s the perfect size for snuggles and companionship. Ellen has already proven her resilience—after overcoming mammary issues and healing beautifully from her spay, she’s ready to enjoy the good life with a loving family. What makes Ellen special Sweet & Loyal: Ellen loves to follow her people everywhere, always eager to be part of whatever you’re doing. Dog-Friendly: She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, making her a great fit for multi-pet households. Affectionate Companion: Ellen adores giving kisses, rubbing against her humans, and soaking up massages around her neck and face. Couch Potato or Shadow: Left alone, she’s happy to relax quietly, but she’ll also trail you from room to room to keep you in sight. Family-Friendly: Ellen loves everyone—including children—and greets new people with friendliness. Low Energy: Due to age, she’s calm and easygoing, with modest exercise needs. Special Considerations: Ellen is hearing impaired, stairs can be tricky for her, and she hasn’t been tested with cats—but her foster believes she’d do fine with them. Ellen’s Ideal Home Ellen is the kind of dog who will quietly brighten your days with her gentle presence and unconditional love. She’s happiest in a home where she can be near her humans, enjoying a relaxed lifestyle filled with affection. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Remington (Remi for short) was adopted by his current family when he was a young puppy, and has lived with them since; however, with the family's circumstances changing recently, his owners are now looking for a home for Remi where he will receive more attention and care then can be given him in his current home. Remi is an active, fun-loving adult dog, a Heeler/Corgi cross with behaviors typical of the herding breeds.  He is a bit nervous about new people and things -- a very typical herding breed characteristic -- but is friendly when he gets to know the person or surroundings.  He has not lived with children but has behaved well when around them; however, it would be best, given his age, that he live in a home with older children or no children.  Also, he has not been around cats, so how he might react to them is an unknown. Remi is in South Bend IN.  If you would like more information about him, or want to meet him, please contact his owner at brendakrathwohl@gmail.com  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 4, 2025, 6:50 pm

Story
We’re not sure about Veronica’s backstory, but we know that she’s likely been through a lot. It seems as if someone wasn’t always very nice to her because she shuts down in some situations. But she does want to be right with her person, following closely on their heels. We think Veronica is about 6 years old. She is a gorgeous Australian shepherd with a gentle personality. While she is recovering from heartworm treatment, she still has energy and wants to play. She is fantastic with other dogs and great with kids. She is happy to be with everyone. Veronica is deaf and has limited vision. She’s very smart and has learned several touch commands including “good girl” and “come.” She is learning to walk nicely on a leash and is housebroken. She sleeps nicely in her pen overnight. Veronica would do best in a home with a friendly dog to help give her confidence. She does not like being left alone for very long, so she’d love someone who is home most of the day. She’d love an active person because she loves to explore and go on adventures. She’d prefer a physical, fenced yard to keep her safe. This sweet, beautiful Aussie is being fostered in the St. Louis area.  ##2378212##

Story
Hot Toddy is proof that the best things come in small, fluffy packages. This mini Australian shepherd may be deaf, but that doesn’t slow him down. He’s a confident, curious puppy who loves exploring. Hot Toddy is full of energy and happiness. He enjoys playing outside, going for walks, and pouncing through piles of leaves. When playtime is over, his favorite spot is right on your lap or curled by your side for a nap. He’s very loyal and will follow you everywhere like your very own fuzzy shadow. He’s working hard on crate and potty training, as well as learning hand signals, and already sleeps through the night like a pro. Hot Toddy loves everyone he meets: people, pups, and cats alike. Hot Toddy would prefer a family where someone is home most of the day with a physical, fenced yard. Priority will be given to applicants with herding dog experience. This is a brainy, energetic pup!  Hot Toddy may be small, but his heart is big. He’s sweet, smart, and ready to share a lifetime of cuddles and adventures with his fur-ever family. Hot Toddy is being fostered in the St. Louis area.  ##2566846##

Story
Sweet senior Stevie is a handsome guy who loves taking walks, wandering around his yard, and hanging out with his human. Just about 10 years old, Stevie is likely an Australian shepherd mix. He's pretty low energy in the house. He gets really excited when it’s time to go for a walk and he jumps up and down at dinner time. Stevie likes to lie at the top of the porch steps and just watch what’s going on in the yard. He comes in when called, especially if there’s a snack involved. He knows “out” and “eat” and is working on “place” and “touch.” Stevie has excellent house manners. He’s potty trained and has never had an accident. He doesn’t chew or get into things. Stevie gets along well with calm, respectful dogs. He’s been good with the kids he’s met when he’s been out and about. He’d love a home where someone isn’t gone all day. He’d really enjoy a fenced yard because he sure loves to spend time outside, just soaking in the sunshine. Stevie is a little shy at first, but comes out of his shell as he gets to know you. This sweet boy is being fostered in the St. Louis area.  ##2527563##
