Story
Forgive me for being a negligent foster mom and allow me to introduce you to HALLIE (knows Stella). ?? This sweet 14.5 yo senior collie mix, about 55 pounds, was returned to SAAP after 6 years through no fault of her own.  What I've learned about Hallie so far:  ? Housebroken,  ? Enjoys her crate but doesn't need one, ? Loves walks & her person, ?/? Low energy: fantastic if you're looking for a dog to quietly keep you company, but not a good fit if you're looking for a companion to join you on epic adventures ?/? She is said to be good with kids but not cats, however, I have neither.  ? She was quite interested & curious when seeing a bunny hop by on our walk, so maybe no small prey in her future home would be best. ?/? May be dog selective. While she was not enthused at all to meet my 8yo male resident dog who is half her size (teeth bared by both on opposite sides of the baby gate), she was happily enamored to meet & follow my neighbor's 7/8yo male dog who is twice her size along the shared fence line. ? I'd recommend no or very minimal steps for Hallie. I have only 2 for her to climb into the house and she will struggle sometimes & is a bit stiff when rising from a nap. Likely a bit of arthritis in her legs. If Hallie sounds like she may be a good fit to live out her remaining years in the comfort of your home, please consider submitting your adoption application at AdoptAStray.com or replying to your approved app with her name.September 28, 2023, 9:57 pm

Story
Meet Luna she is a six year old collie mix she was taken in by the former owner 2 years ago from a friend who needed to rehome her and the friend took her in and now the friend is surrendering the dog due to her being in a wheel chair and can't really give her the care the dog needs. The dog is a escape artist can jump a four foot fence, not climb, can jump from a sit down position. Per the former owner the dog has never been around male dogs just female dogs the lady knew people who had just female dogs so she has never been around a male dog before but she has lived with cats and kids of all ages. She knows the commands sit, paw, food and dinner once she hears them words she will sit and wait for her food.

Story
Hi everyone my name is Harleigh. I'm a little shy at first but if you are patient and give me time I can show you what a beautiful good girl I can be. Staff here are unsure at this time how I would be around other animals. Small children make me nervous and I would probably do better in a home without then. So if you have any older children(over 10) or other dogs please bring them in to meet me to ensure a good match. I can't wait to meet my new family and to get my forever home!

Laddie is an athletic, playful, highly intelligent dog whose idle energy is not too high or frantic like you often see within herding breeds. He needs at least a medium activity level family who wants to do something with him. He is medium/easy on leash and is just looking for his fun loving home.

Story
Hi! My name is Lucy! I am a pretty one year old female "Lassie Collie". You don't see many of us around anymore! I am very friendly and sweet. I am socialized with other dogs and people. I do well with kids. I love to play with other dogs. I am good in the car and on a leash. I like to play with toys. I know basic commands such as sit, stay and come. What do I need to make it the perfect forever home? Well, first of course, much love from you. I also have a bit of separation anxiety which causes me to bark a bit more than I should. If I could find a home where I would not be alone too much and / or have another doggie companion to keep me company, that might be good. I am a very smart girl. I listen to you if you are correcting me. I just need a little bit of training, but since I learn fast, this will work out! VFAW is taking applications for me. They want to find the perfect match for both me and you. If you are interested in adopting me, please let them know and they can send you an application. I look forward to hearing from you. Can you whistle? Just put your lips together and blow.. Love, Lucy xox

Story
In search of a serial kisser, the best kind of serial out there, right? Well then I, Mandy, am the dog for you! I'm a mix of awesomeness and 5 years old. I can be laid back and chill or a bouncing ball of joy! I love walks and jogs, with you of course. I also love playing with other dogs. I love it so much, I prefer playing with other dogs over playing with toys. Something else I love, sunbathing! Does your couch have the perfect spot to lay and catch rays? Well then I should absolutely be laying there. I really enjoy laying around, like under tables. Dinner time? I'm under that table. Working at your desk? I'm laying under that too. You laying in bed? Guess what. I'm there too. I'm all about my people and if you adopt me then I'll be all about you! Mandy is good with other dogs and kids (works best with submissive/non-dominant dogs). She is crate trained and potty trained with a doggy door. She knows the commands to go to her crate and to sit. She eats her meals in her crate and will routinely relax in it during the day. She loves food and will steal any if you're not watching. She will do best in a yard that has a secured bottom. ***Mandy has EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency) which basically means, my pancreas has not been producing the yummy enzymes I need to adequately digest my food. Because my rescuers were SO astute and proactive, they figured it out (with help of the vet, of course). I will require a certain diet and supplement, highly digestible and low fat foods along with a pancreatic enzyme replacement supplement. Basically, every meal I get an appetizer and entree. Easy pleasy. EPI does not necessarily require "prescription" food, and Mandy has drastically improved since the Pancreatic Enzymes added to her diet*** She will need enzymes for life, however, you will get serial kisses day in and day out too.... a great trade off :) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Mac is a sweet boy who knows what he wants! He does love to chase and play with animals smaller than him. Due to this we suggest that he does not go home to a family that has cats or things like chickens. Squirrels watch out! This little guy can move! Mac also enjoys being the only dog. He would prefer a home where he is the center of attention and can soak up all the puppy love from his people. He is a lazy boy and does enjoy snoozing and spending time on the couch napping but at the same time can have his moments where he is ready to go. He is housebroken and does just fine in a crate! If he sounds like the boy for you then don't wait! Story
Kage is a good boy, and just SO cute ;) He is a gentleman in the house, fully potty trained and leash/ harness trained. He gets along great with other dogs and enjoys playing in the backyard with his buds... Kage is a gorgeous lab/border collie mix, the perfect combination of smarts and drive with the family-ness of a lab. He is a great size as well- kind of a mini lab or slightly larger border collie! When you have two great things that go great together, you CELEBRATE!! He is that combo, so you can celebrate by actually adopting him into a fantastic home! He has such a sweet temperament, great with everyone he meets. He does not do well with storms but can be managed, he loves his people and is best if they are around alot. His foster mom just loves him and has gotten him as prepared for his family as she can, now it is up to you! ADOPT, DON'T SHOP!!!!! His LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!!!
