I'm a doggone good boy with a heart full of love and a spirit for adventure. My curious nature will have us exploring new trails and sniffing out exciting experiences together. But don't worry, I'm also a friendly and affectionate cuddle bug who loves nothing more than a good belly rub and some quality time with my favorite humans. I might not know if I'm a fan of other dogs, but I sure do know how to be a loyal and goofy companion to people. So, if you're looking for a playful pal to join your pack, I'm your dude! Kai can be untrusting at first and will need someone who is going to give him the time and space to adjust to a new home. He is a sweet boy who is just learning to play. Dog toys seem very new to him, so interactive play is a great way to gain his trust. He loves back scratches, and loves to be talked to. He tilts his head as if he's really listening to every word you say.At our Rescue center, he loves to be included in daily chores. Many of the volunteers let him free roam while doing dishes & laundry. He enjoys just people watching.

Tater is a sweet boy! He landed in the shelter as a stray and Barktown pulled him. He loves affection and will work hard to please you, so he will thrive in training! We are not sure about cats, but he seems fine with other dogs. If you want a ride or die loyal companion, fill out an application for Tater at www.barktownrescue.org    Tater's adoption fee is $100The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
