Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Darrow arrived at the shelter on 8/7/2026, from one of our local rescue friends. He's an approximately 6-7 year old red heeler mix. We were told there could be some corgi in there, but he looks a lot like a purebred heeler. He's a really nice boy! Darrow will need to be vet checked and neutered soon and his fee is $150. Darrow lived outside most of his life and was abandoned by his owners when they moved. He's a little unsure of things right now but likes people and is happy and affectionate. He kind of goes with the flow of things. He will need a little basic training and regular exercise. A home that has some experience with herding breeds like him would be great. We do think he would do okay with other well mannered dogs. Cats? It's hard to say. Kids over 5 would be best.  NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 9, 2026, 2:24 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Olive came to MCHS on July 12 with her four littermates after they were being fostered by another rescue and needed a new place to go. These pups were born on April 27th and their mother appeared to be a pit bull type dog, around 60 pounds. We don't know who fathered them. Olive is happy and healthy and has the classic puppy energy. She has been vet checked, microchipped, and received all of her age appropriate vaccinations, including her rabies shot, but is not quite old enough to be spayed. The surgery will be coordinated with her adopter once she is older. The spay is required by us and, along with the rest of her vetting, is covered under her $150 adoption fee. Because she is a puppy, Olive will need training in all areas. She's looking for a home in which she won't be left alone for long hours. She should do well with kids and male dogs and is young enough to learn to interact properly with cats. We are guessing she will be a medium-sized to large dog at maturity. She's a typical puppy, full of mischief and very playful! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Volunteer fave in the house! Bram arrived at the shelter on 9/29/2024, after he went unclaimed at the city pound. He's a happy and energetic husky mix with icy blue eyes. We do think he's mixed with some type of herding breed. He's friendly and ready for action at all times. He's also very loving. His size is in the medium range and he's around 3 years old. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped. His adoption fee of $150 is sponsored.  We're hoping to find Bram a home that has some experience with husky types. They are notorious clowns who love to run! Bram does require basic obedience training and a lot of regular exercise to keep him settled. He loves to play and be with people. He has a tendency to be strong willed so he needs an experienced owner who is ready and willing to work with this. Cats are most likely a no for him. An adult only home would be best and a fenced yard would be perfection. He could do well with a well mannered dog of similar size. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application as been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org.
