Story
Hi, I’m Sweetie! I came from a large hoarding case, so the world was a very scary place when I first arrived. Thanks to patience, kindness, and a wonderful foster home, I’m learning something new every day. I’m a smart girl who picks up new things quickly and absolutely loves playing with other dogs—they’ve helped me gain so much confidence! While I’m still a little shy with people and prefer to retreat to my crate when I need a safe space, I continue to make progress at my own pace. I enjoy running around the yard, playing with toys, and being part of a routine. My ideal home would have another friendly dog to help show me the ropes and a patient family who understands that trust takes time. I may not be the kind of dog who wants cuddles right away, but if you let me blossom on my own timeline, I know I’ll become a loyal companion who’s worth every bit of the journey. 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #3537

Story
Hi, I’m Boswell! I came from a large hoarding case, so the world is still a pretty new place to me. When I first arrived in foster care, I was very timid and unsure, but every day I’m becoming a little braver. I may not be ready for lots of pets just yet, but I love being close to my people and quietly watching everything they do. My favorite thing is going for walks—I stay right by your side and enjoy exploring at my own pace. I’m crate trained, house trained with a consistent routine, and get along well with other dogs and even cats. I’m a smart boy who just needs a calm, patient family willing to let me build trust at my own speed. As my foster says, I improve a little every single day, and with kindness and understanding, I know I’ll continue to blossom into a wonderful companion. 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #3537

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Addie is a sweet Collie mix with a heart of gold! This quiet, easygoing girl is well-behaved, crate- and house-trained, and great with kids. She loves meeting new people, is excellent on a leash, and always impresses everyone with her calm, friendly demeanor. Addie would thrive in a home with another dog to be her fur friend and a securely fenced yard where she can safely play and explore. She’s truly a plug-and-play dog ready to find her forever family and share a lifetime of love and adventures. REQUIREMENTS: Fenced Yard, Another DogVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Koda and Niko have been together their whole lives and we are not going to separate them. :) Niko LOVES to give kisses and Koda likes to lay on the couch and get tons of cuddles! Niko is a shepherd mix and he is 7. Koda is a border collie mix and he is 10. They both love to play in the field and roll around so a fenced yard would be ideal. Since Koda is older he is not a fan of younger dogs and the high energy so this pair may do best as the only dogs in the house :)) REQUIRES- Fenced YardVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. Story
Cooper is a handsome senior gentleman who came to us after his owner moved and was unable to take him along. Despite this big change in his life, Cooper has remained the sweet, laid-back boy we've come to know and love. Cooper enjoys the simple things in life, leisurely walks, plenty of time to sniff and explore, and soaking up affection from his favorite people. As we continue getting to know him, he has shown us that he is a well-mannered companion with a gentle nature. Now, Cooper is looking for a loving family to spend his golden years with. He deserves a comfortable home, a cozy place to rest, and people who will cherish him for the wonderful dog he is. In return, Cooper is ready to offer loyalty, companionship, and plenty of love. 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #3537

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Let me introduce you to Annie ❤️   Annie is a beautiful Red Heeler with a heart to match. While she’s been raising her puppies, she’s also been showing everyone exactly who she is—and it’s something special.   Her foster mom says if she didn’t already have five dogs of her own, Annie would be staying. That alone tells you everything you need to know.   Annie has all the best traits of a cattle dog—she’s smart, attentive, loyal, and deeply connected to her people. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be part of your world, whether that’s helping you with daily life or simply being by your side.   And underneath that classic Heeler intelligence is a very sweet, gentle soul. She’s loving, steady, and has done an incredible job raising her puppies.   Annie is ready for a home of her own now—a place where she’s not just the mama, but someone’s heart dog.   If you know and love the spirit of a good cattle dog, Annie may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for.   Apply to adopt Annie and give this wonderful girl the life she deserves. Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. We try to post videos for each pet so you can really get to know them. If you would like to find out more please email or call Diane at... diane@ulpr.org or 870-577-3744.   Please email us at diane@ulpr.org and request an application. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 5, 2026, 12:05 am

Story
Meet MJ (“Max”)! Max is a handsome 1-year-old Border Collie mix with brains, energy, and a whole lot of love to give! This smart boy is neutered, crate trained, house trained, and eager to learn. He already knows sit, lay down, wait, and stay, and he’s currently mastering spin and place. Max absolutely loves people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He’s happiest when he has room to run, play, and frolic in the yard—sometimes with a few excited barks to let everyone know he’s having the best day ever! Because of his herding breed mix and active nature, Max would thrive with an active family and a securely fenced yard where he can safely burn off energy and enjoy outdoor adventures. While Max adores dogs and humans alike, a home without cats is best for him. This young boy is looking for a family that will continue his training, keep his mind busy, and give him the love and exercise he craves. In return, Max will reward you with loyalty, fun, and endless affection. Could Max be the perfect addition to your family?
