Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.AVAILABLE after February 20, 2025.Barkley is an adorable Border Collie/Lab mix, born on November 17, 2024. He spent his early weeks on a farm, living outside with his mom and siblings. This sweet boy has a loving personality and adores his humans. He also gets along wonderfully with the two Labradors with whom he currently resides.  Barkley is making progress with potty training and leash walking. He loves to snuggle and will happily curl up with you for some quality cuddle time. He will be available for adoption after February 20, once he has received his first set of vaccines. His new owner will need to complete his puppy vaccinations, neuter, and continue to maintain his health. Barkley will also be microchipped for safety and security. PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW CAREFULLY BEFORE APPLYING FOR OUR FLUFFIES We can't guarantee Barkley's Parentage. BREED :  Mother appears to be a Border Collie. His absentee Dad is assumed to be a lab/husky mix.  SIZE:   We can NOT predict the size of these dogs.  Safe to say – 40-60 lbs.  Please don’t apply if size is a factor in your decision.  Our goal is to never have to re-home our dogs—especially because they didn’t grow to expectations. THEY POOP AND PEE A LOT:  Be prepared.  Typically, a puppy can control their bladder one hour for every month of age. So if your puppy is 2 months old, they can hold it for about two hours. Don't go longer than this between bathroom breaks or they're likely to have an accident. HE WILL SHED A LOT; DO YOU HAVE A GOOD SWEEPER IF you work away from home—you will need a patient care giver for your new addition in your absence. Barkely absolutely need training, exercise, and commitment to grooming.  This fluffy pup can give the right owner many wonderful years of companionship and love; but it will be a full time commitment.  It is the responsibility of puppy adopters to continue and complete the puppy shot/maintenance protocols.  These pups have had their first puppy shot and are dewormed (you may have to continue follow up on deworming).  Puppies will need at least two more boosters and a rabies vaccine in the coming weeks with boosters again yearly.  Your vet may recommend other vaccines in the future; such as lyme, influenza etc.   You MUST sign a contract agreeing to have your puppy spayed/neutered at an age recommended by your veterinarian.  You must provide Haven to Home with proof of SPAY/NEUTER at an agreed upon date in the future. ASK yourself:  Can I afford to have my puppy spayed/neutered? This dog may live to be 15-20 years old. Do I really want to make this possible lifetime commitment? If my pet gets sick or injured can I afford the medical treatment? (In some cases this could be for the duration of my pet's life.) Am I home enough to give this pet the proper attention and training that it needs? What will I do with the dog if we go away on vacation? Can I afford the adoption fee? Can I afford the cost of monthly flea and heartworm preventative? If you are STILL interested in adopting one of our pups :) please submit an application.  Our rescue dogs are placed in homes based on the best possible match for dog and human.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet. Applications are the first step in the adoption process. Please do not call or email simply to express interest. We are all volunteers and receiving your application saves us time and helps to determine the best match for both people and dogs.  We provide as much information as we currently have on each dog in their description. For questions on the adoption process, including fees, please review the Adoption page. If you have additional questions or are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application. Once we receive your application someone will be in touch to answer your questions. We do not arrange visits to meet dogs without an application. If you'd like to meet a variety of dogs without filling out an application please attend one of our events, listed under the events link.  Thank you!February 9, 2025, 7:49 pm

Story
This is Rocco. He is a two year old Collie/German Short-haired Pointer mix. His birthdate is December 30th, 2022. Very loveable and smart. He loves to play fetch and he walks well on a lease. He unfortunately has to be rehomed due to not getting along with smaller animals. I recommend only larger dogs and older children. Small animals and children may be at risk due to his German Pointer background. It saddens us to have to rehome him, however, he just doesn't get along with smaller animals. It wouldn't be fair for him to have to be isolated. He deserves all the love.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. MARGO was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and will be travelling to  Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Friday, 14th February where she will wait for her forever family to find her. We are accepting applications from families interested in giving this sweet girl her forever home. We will update pictures and information when she has arrived and settled in. MARGO is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, weighs around 68 pounds and is around 2 years old. The shelter volunteer stated (8 January) Dog didn't mind the other and made way away from others to relax to self for some time and showed some playful energy with the others once getting warmed up with the group. (16 January) High energy, jumpy, social with people, loose wiggly body, wants to play and run, high energy. (22 January) During the observation Margo was a good girl, she listens to the command sit and has a burst of energy. (28 January) High energy, jumpy, knows sit, knows shake, leash puller. Social with dogs and people, loose wiggly body. Love bug, wants to play, wants to run, solicits pets. Knows sit, shake, energetic, jumper, loves to run interests in dogs leash reactive.  (Rescue comments - it is important to take into account when reading these comments that these dogs are in a strange environment with a lot of dogs, and they are learning about each other in a very small space of time, it is high stimulation environment, also often the first time they have had exercise with other dogs.  Comments are from volunteers, not trainers or behavio rists). We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. MARGO is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550, as noted she is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine and families are required to complete and submit an  adoption application and when approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home this sweet girl. Applications are processed with 24 hours of them being received. Link to the Adoption Application To look at lots more photo's be sure to check out our    Facebook Page ALBUMS    where we are able to upload hundreds of photos of our dogs waiting for their forever homes and families. Story
Meet Maverick! Maverick is just a baby who is still learning what being a dog is all about and is catching on very quickly. Whether it’s cats or dogs, if it’s got fur and it moves, Maverick automatically wants to play with it. This can be frustrating for senior dogs, while younger dogs will think that it’s great. Maverick likes to play with toys but gets easily distracted by the brand new world that is waiting for him to explore. Because Maverick is still learning manners, he would fit best in a home with older children. While he does well with not jumping on his foster mom, it is possible that he could accidentally knock a smaller child down. Overall, Maverick is pretty gentle and likes to snuggle with his foster mom from time to time. His crate training is coming along nicely and he can currently go for about five hours before needing to be let out. If Maverick sounds like your dog, complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Thank you for your interest in a Save a Stray pet. The first step is to complete an adoption application. https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.
