You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Addie is a sweet Collie mix with a heart of gold! This quiet, easygoing girl is well-behaved, crate- and house-trained, and great with kids. She loves meeting new people, is excellent on a leash, and always impresses everyone with her calm, friendly demeanor. Addie would thrive in a home with another dog to be her fur friend and a securely fenced yard where she can safely play and explore. She’s truly a plug-and-play dog ready to find her forever family and share a lifetime of love and adventures. Meet Betsy: Betsy is a 1 year old (as of February 2026) Blue Heeler / German Shorthair mix (best guess) that weighs 61 pounds. Betsy was surrendered to us by her owners when she was about 6 months old. Betsy was skinny, had Demodex Mange with lots of hair missing and the owners just did not want her anymore. We scooped Betsy up and started working with her to develop into the beautiful young lady we knew she could be! Betsy is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Betsy is now a very healthy girl with a nice coat. Betsy is a friendly girl that is great with people and great with other dogs. Betsy is good on a leash but will need a fenced in yard for her to run off energy. Betsy would thrive in a home with an active family and another dog. Betsy does have a habit of jumping up on you but we are working on this and she is showing signs of progress. Betsy is crate trained and doing great with her potty training. Betsy is up to date on her shots and is spayed. Meet Fern: Fern is about a 2 year old (as of January 2026) border collie mix (best guess) that weighs around 47 pounds. Fern was brought into a shelter in Arkansas with her 6 puppies (unfortunately only 2 puppies survived). Our rescue heard about Fern and her 3 week old pups and were able to find a foster home to get them into a lower stress environment. Fern and her pups are currently being fostered in the Lancaster, PA area and would love to meet their forever families. Fern is very friendly and sweet. Meet Dalia: Dalia is a 5 month old (as of February 2026) Australian cattle dog/ rat terrier mix (best guess) that weighs about 16 pounds. Sweet Dalia had been adopted from a northern Mississippi animal shelter, but then her owners had a health situation come up that they decided they needed to relocate to Texas to be closer to family. This situation resulted in the family making the hard choice to rehome Dalia. Dalia is being fostered in the south and would love to catch the next freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families! Dalia is a bundle of puppy energy and playfulness. Dalia is thoroughly socialized with both people and other dogs. Dalia required no special introductions to her new foster and housemates - she fit right in. Dalia has never met a stranger and is a happy, adaptable pup. Dalia is having a ball playing with a couple of puppies her age and loves getting in her foster's lap.
