Story
Meet our staff favorite, Bonnie! This girl is available for foster or adoption! She is looking for a patient home to help her become the best version of herself! She was found abandoned on a farm with another dog, so we are unsure of her history. She is currently in a temporary foster home and is thriving! She is great with all dogs and does well with a senior and calm cat in the home, as well as sheep through the fence. She is house trained and is doing well with crate training. She doesn't make a peep at night. She recently went on a staff camping trip and made the perfect buddy.  She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. If you think she may be the perfect match for your family please fill out a foster or adoption application! Applications are available online at petpantrylc.org. From there, our adoption coordinator will be in touch!July 12, 2026, 9:09 am

Story
Hi, I’m Sweetie! I came from a large hoarding case, so the world was a very scary place when I first arrived. Thanks to patience, kindness, and a wonderful foster home, I’m learning something new every day. I’m a smart girl who picks up new things quickly and absolutely loves playing with other dogs—they’ve helped me gain so much confidence! While I’m still a little shy with people and prefer to retreat to my crate when I need a safe space, I continue to make progress at my own pace. I enjoy running around the yard, playing with toys, and being part of a routine. My ideal home would have another friendly dog to help show me the ropes and a patient family who understands that trust takes time. I may not be the kind of dog who wants cuddles right away, but if you let me blossom on my own timeline, I know I’ll become a loyal companion who’s worth every bit of the journey. 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #3537

Story
Hi, I’m Boswell! I came from a large hoarding case, so the world is still a pretty new place to me. When I first arrived in foster care, I was very timid and unsure, but every day I’m becoming a little braver. I may not be ready for lots of pets just yet, but I love being close to my people and quietly watching everything they do. My favorite thing is going for walks—I stay right by your side and enjoy exploring at my own pace. I’m crate trained, house trained with a consistent routine, and get along well with other dogs and even cats. I’m a smart boy who just needs a calm, patient family willing to let me build trust at my own speed. As my foster says, I improve a little every single day, and with kindness and understanding, I know I’ll continue to blossom into a wonderful companion. 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #3537

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Addie is a sweet Collie mix with a heart of gold! This quiet, easygoing girl is well-behaved, crate- and house-trained, and great with kids. She loves meeting new people, is excellent on a leash, and always impresses everyone with her calm, friendly demeanor. Addie would thrive in a home with another dog to be her fur friend and a securely fenced yard where she can safely play and explore. She’s truly a plug-and-play dog ready to find her forever family and share a lifetime of love and adventures. REQUIREMENTS: Fenced Yard, Another DogVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Koda and Niko have been together their whole lives and we are not going to separate them. :) Niko LOVES to give kisses and Koda likes to lay on the couch and get tons of cuddles! Niko is a shepherd mix and he is 7. Koda is a border collie mix and he is 10. They both love to play in the field and roll around so a fenced yard would be ideal. Since Koda is older he is not a fan of younger dogs and the high energy so this pair may do best as the only dogs in the house :)) REQUIRES- Fenced YardVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. Story
Meet Flo! This adorable almost 4-month-old puppy is as sweet as she is fluffy. She loves playing fetch, learning new things, and spending time with her people.Flo is housebroken, crate-trained, and is already learning commands like "here," "sit," "down," "crate," and "outside." She's also doing well with leash walking. Smart, eager to learn, and food-motivated, Flo is off to a great start with her training. When she's not playing, Flo loves curling up on the couch for snuggles and enjoying scratches through her soft, fluffy coat. Story
Meet Cary: Cary is about a 1 year old (as of May 2026) Kelpie / Jack Russel / Cur mix (best guess?) that weighs about 29 pounds. Cary was at a shelter in Tennessee and not getting any interest so he was marked to euthanize to make room for more. Fortunately we heard about the situation and had a foster find a spot for him. Cary is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Cary is incredibly friendly with both people and dogs. Cary is a bundle of energy as well as a playful puppy. Cary is just the right size and temperament for being a lap buddy or bed buddy as well as a buddy for taking for long walks. Cary is currently house trained to a doggie door and may need patience while learning a new routine. We would love for Cary to have a home with a fenced in yard so he can run and play freely. Cary is up to date on his shots and is neutered. If you are interested in giving this young cutie a great life, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. Story
Meet Rascal:  Rascal is a 4 year old Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix that weighs around 41 pounds.  Rascal was rescued from a high kill shelter a day before she was to be euthanized.  Rascal loves attention and is very sweet.  Rascal can be dog selective but has no reaction to cats. We recommend older children because Rascal is energetic and sometimes jumps on you. Overall Rascal is a nice girl...just needs some work and stability. Rascal is house and crate trained but needs some work on her leash walking. Rascal will need a fenced in yard where she can run and a family that is very active and experienced. Rascal will make a great dog in the right home. Rascal is up to date on all her shots and spayed. If you were interested in adopting this sweet girl, please go to our website at charliescrusaders.org and fill out our adoption application. Story
Hi there! I`m Toretto!Besides being super fast, I`m a really nice guy! My original family wasn`t able to take me with them when they moved, so I was surrendered to the shelter. I eventually found a new family and spent five wonderful years with them, but when their circumstances changed, I found myself back at the shelter once again.Stability is really important to me, and I`m hoping to find a forever home where I can finally put down roots for good. I`m open to living with people of all ages and have experience living with cats. While I have lived with other dogs in the past, I can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs and need an experienced handler. Having my own space helps me feel comfortable and secure.I ride well in the car and enjoy outdoor adventures like hiking, jogging, and exploring with my people. I may be older now, but I still have plenty of pep in my step and love staying active. If you`re looking for a loyal companion who`s ready to settle into a loving home for good, I might just be the perfect match for you!--If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared - bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org
