Story
Here's what we know - sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't. Here's what else we know - you will ALWAYS feel like our nut, the amazing Almond Joy!Almond Joy completes the trio of sweet dogs from the southwestern part of Virginia that came to our shelter. Much like Kit Kat and Licorice, Almond Joy is young (3-years-old), healthy, neutered and has an enchanting personality. The one difference with Almond Joy is that he takes just an extra minute to warm up to you, but he is well worth your time. Gaining the trust of a shy dog is a gift - for you and the dog.The trio was all at the same foster home before making their way to us - the foster reports they were all great together and got along well. Playing together was a priority for them - it always amazes us how helpful that is for the more shy dog. When you go to meet Almond Joy, you can sense the trust he wants to extend to you - but he is just not sure. But, wait for it, because all of a sudden, you are a part of his inner circle. We took Almond Joy and his friends in because we felt quiet certain we could get them each adopted out. We have a larger audience in our area, so that many more people to find them! Please give into your sweet tooth and come meet the amazing Almond Joy and his friends. You can see confidence building in real time with him and he is realizing how many people are there for him. It's magical!Almond Joy and his friends are available to see every single day from 9am-12pm, at 80 Butler Farm Road in Hampton!Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Meet Celia ❤️ foster Virginia Beach Celia is a breathtaking 9-year-old Rough Collie with the gentle heart and sweet soul the breed is known for. She spent her younger years lovingly raising puppies, and she has been cherished throughout her life. Through no fault of her own, she now finds herself looking for one final family to love her through her golden years. Simply put, there isn't a bad thing we can say about Celia. She is everything people hope for in a Collie and more. Gentle, affectionate, impeccably mannered, and endlessly kind, she still turns heads everywhere she goes. She has never met a stranger and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. Celia is completely house trained, walks beautifully through the home, and loves spending time with her family. She enjoys the company of both large and small friendly dogs but does not require a canine companion to be happy. Despite living with arthritis, she still happily jaunts around the backyard, enjoys exploring the yard, and soaks up the sunshine. She is currently comfortable on Tramadol along with joint supplements to help manage her pain. Because of her orthopedic needs, Celia is looking for a one-level home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely enjoy her outdoor time. Children should be 5 years of age or older so she can enjoy a peaceful retirement without being treated as a playmate for toddlers. As a Rough Collie, Celia's beautiful coat requires lifelong maintenance. Applicants should be able to provide a grooming reference demonstrating regular professional grooming for their current or previous dogs. Celia also needs a patient groomer who understands senior dogs and is willing to work at her pace, allowing her to lie down and rest as needed during grooming appointments. Celia is currently being fostered in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and preference will be given to applicants in Virginia Beach and the Hampton Roads area, with particular priority given to families located in Virginia Beach. If you've been searching for that once-in-a-lifetime Collie who asks for nothing more than love, comfort, and a soft place to rest her head, Celia is waiting to meet you. She has spent her entire life giving love. Now it's her turn to simply receive it. ❤️🐾 Please email us with questions before sending an application you will need to be given a code in order to bypass the application fee Coastalsheltierescue@gmail.com

Story
💙🩵 Meet Emmy 🩵💙 Free at last. Thank God... I'm finally free. That could very well be the song playing in Emmy's heart. This stunning 6-year-old Blue Merle Rough Collie has left her past behind and is ready to begin the happiest chapter of her life. Despite what she has endured, Emmy has never let it harden her heart. She greets the world with kindness, gentleness, and hope. There truly isn't a bad thing we can say about Emmy. She is beautiful, affectionate, incredibly sweet, and an absolute joy to live with. 🐾 House trained 🐾 Crate trained 🐾 Wonderful on a leash 🐾 Loves other dogs 🐾 Excellent house manners 🐾 Gentle and kind with everyone she meets Emmy came to us with injuries after living in an abusive home, but we are thrilled to say she has made a full recovery and is ready to embrace life. Best of all, she has not lost her trust in people. She loves both women and men and is ready to give her whole heart to the family who chooses her. 🏡 Emmy's ideal home ❤️ Securely fenced yard required 🐶 A friendly canine companion would be wonderful since she truly enjoys the company of other dogs, although it is not required. 👧 Children should be 5 years of age or older and understand how to respectfully interact with dogs. Emmy is not a climbing toy or a pillow for little ones, and she deserves a home where her gentle nature is respected. 📍 Emmy is being fostered in Portsmouth, Virginia. There are no distance restrictions for Emmy's adoption. We are happy to consider wonderful homes wherever they may be. However, adopters must travel to Portsmouth, Virginia to meet and adopt her. ✨ To help Emmy find the perfect forever family, we are waiving the adoption application fee. Simply send us a Facebook message and email us to receive the application code that will waive the fee. Coastalsheltierescue@gmail.com Every dog deserves a second chance. Emmy deserves a lifetime of love. She has survived. She has healed. Now she is ready to live the life she was always meant to have, surrounded by kindness, safety, and unconditional love. Free at last. 💙🐾 and waiting for her forever love.

Story
Luke came from a rural shelter where he was surrendered.  He is 8 yrs old and has been chained most of his life- he has a permanent bald ring around his neck from the chain.  Despite that, he is a sweet boy who is learning to be an inside dog.  He is learning to calm himself by going into his crate when he feels overwhelmed.  He has taken a great liking to his foster dad and will get into his lap to calm himself.  Luke will be starting heart worm treatment soon and will be available at the end of the treatment.  He needs a 6 ft privacy fenced and a family with older respectful kids as he can be too much for little ones when he gets the zoomies.  We don't think he would be good with cats because he shows too much interest in those outside.  He needs a family who is willing to be patient with him and show him what a loving family is and one who will always take good care of him.  If you are looking for a sweet boy who desperately wants to be part of someone's family and are willing to be patient and love him unconditionally, please contact Rainbow Rescue at :  rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.com or call at 757-472-1583July 6, 2026, 12:14 am
