Story
Puppy Jack is a handsome 4 1/2 month old Coonhound mix puppy looking for a family to help him blossom. Surrendered by his owner, this boy is very nervous upon meeting new people right now. He is a jumper and/or climber and will need a fully enclosed 6-foot fenced yard (not a chainlink fence, though). He will need a patient owner who has lots of time to spend with him while he learns the essentials. He’ll flourish with plenty of playtime, exercise, mental stimulation, socialization and love while he learns.Jack is up to date on vaccinations, heart worm negative, microchipped and will be neutered upon adoption . He is currently at our Freeport location. If you would like to meet him, please fill out the adoption application on our website using a laptop or desktop (no phone or tablet, please) at https://bobbiandthestrays.org/adoption-page-new/. Story
Grinch is a sweet, resilient 4-year-old, 40-lb boy with a calm spirit and a kind heart. He has a gentle, thoughtful nature and approaches the world with quiet curiosity. Grinch enjoys companionship, relaxed moments with people he trusts, and the simple comfort of feeling safe. He is the kind of dog who bonds deeply and will be a loyal, steady presence in his future home. From the Streets to Safety Grinch was rescued from the street along with four other dogs by a woman who had been caring for them. When she later lost her job and could no longer afford their care, she made the difficult but loving decision to seek help. Grinch was brought to our rescue partners at SOS el Arca Animal Rescue, where he finally received consistent food, shelter, and the medical care he needed. Despite the uncertainty of his early life, Grinch has remained gentle, trusting, and deeply appreciative of kindness. He has shown that with stability and love, he truly blossoms. A Chance at a New Beginning We would love to bring Grinch to New York on our January transport, but he can only make the journey with a committed adopter or foster-to-adopt home in place. Grinch has already endured too much uncertainty in his life—his next chapter deserves to be one of security, love, and belonging. Grinch is Ready for His Forever Home: -Neutered and microchipped -Fully vaccinated -Heartworm tested (negative) -Dewormed -On flea, tick, and heartworm prevention A Wonderful Companion Grinch does well with other dogs and enjoys calm, friendly interactions. He would thrive in a home that offers patience, consistency, and affection. Someone willing to give him time to settle in will be rewarded with a deeply loyal and loving companion. If you’re looking for a gentle soul who will truly appreciate the home you give him, Grinch may be the perfect match. Fill out our adoption application, which can be easily found at sosanimalwelfare.org, and email it to sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com with any questions. Grinch is ready for his fresh start—and for a family who will never let him feel abandoned again!

Story
Meet Dione! Dione is a 3.5 month, 18-lb (as of 1/25) hound mix with a huge personality packed into a bouncy little body. She’s a goofy, happy-go-lucky puppy with two favorite modes: wildly enthusiastic playtime and serious, melt-into-you snuggles—and she does both exceptionally well. Dione is energetic, playful, and endlessly curious. She loves toys (and almost always has one in her mouth), plays beautifully with other dogs, and adores her foster dog siblings. She’s also met a cat and is very intrigued—she just hasn’t quite learned yet that cats aren’t dogs 😄 She’s comfortable with people, affectionate, and not shy at all. While city noises can still make her a little nervous, she enjoys spending time in the yard and continues to gain confidence. Dione is crate trained, puppy-pad trained, and can relax quietly in her crate for a few hours. Like any teething puppy, Dione needs frequent redirection to toys and is learning basic boundaries such as “no” and “leave it.” She’s smart, eager, and learning quickly. Dione would thrive in a home ready for active puppy life, continued training, and lots of love. She’s bright, affectionate, playful, and full of potential—and will make an amazing companion for someone ready to grow alongside her. If you’re looking for a joyful, snuggly, toy-loving pup, Dione might be your perfect match If you would like to adopt this Rockstar, please email rescue@pupstarzrescue.org or visit www.pupstarzrescue.org for an application! www.pupstarzrescue.org Please Follow us on Instagram: @pupstarzrescue Like us on FaceBook! www.facebook.com/PupStarzRescue **Puppies are hard work. Story
In November 2024, Firestarter was discovered at a dump site in rural Alabama with heavy chains and metal rods cuffed to her leg. She was terrified of everything and everyone. Over time and thanks to her foster’s patient care, she learned to trust again. Firestarter has grown into a charming extrovert who loves the company of people and other dogs. She gets along with cats too—as long as they don’t mind her playful nature! Although she’s an active girl with an adventurous spirit, she’s exceptionally well-behaved and mellow at home once she has had her daily walks. Firestarter is fostered in Ridgefield, CT, and is available for local or out-of-state adoption as long as the adopter can travel to meet her. Story
When Chronos was found wandering alone in Alabama, he was shockingly emaciated and nearly hairless. Yet even then, he greeted everyone eagerly—clearly a dog who had once known love and was desperate to feel it again. At first glance, Chronos looked every bit his 10 years… maybe more. But time has started to move a little differently for him. With proper medical care, nourishing meals, and the devotion of his foster family, Chronos is doing the impossible—he’s aging in reverse. His body is healing, his spirit shining brighter every day. Chronos is a sweet old soul who has never met a stranger. He’s easygoing, affectionate, and gets along amicably with dogs and cats. He naps hard and enjoys the simple comforts (blankets, a cozy sweater, a warm bath…), but will surprise you with moments of playfulness in between. His presence feels like the soft comfort of a time-worn shirt. Chronos is fostered in Brooklyn, NY, and is available for local or out-of-state adoption as long as the adopter can travel to meet him. To get the adoption process started, please send us an application at https://bit.ly/rosr-adopt-foster.
