Story
Meet Gilgu!  He is sso precious! He is a 3 year old that was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horrific puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Many restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Gilgu and some of his friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app April 23, 2024, 5:39 pm

Story
Meet Wilson, a 7 year old 35lb Corgi/Shepherd mix. He was rescued from the horrors of the Yulin Dog Meat trade and waited years for his chance to come to the US. Now that he's here and acclimated to normal household living, he is ready for his forever home! His ideal home would have a canine companion and a yard for him to explore! A bit about Wilson: :Behavior: Initially fearful, Wilson warms up to familiar faces, and though he may not readily accept pets, his wagging tail speaks volumes. He's a social butterfly with other dogs, radiating excitement and joy. Limited interactions with children and other species, but friendly with familiar dogs. Leash Manners: Wilson walks on a leash with enthusiasm and calmness, he'd make a great walking partner! Alone Time: House-trained and comfortable alone for about 4 hours at a time. Favorite Pastimes: Enjoys walks, lounging on the couch or bed, and thrives when surrounded by other dogs. Personality: Initially reserved, Wilson transforms into a more open and trusting companion once he establishes a bond. He is a low energy dog, which makes for an easygoing furry friend! Areas to Improve: Given his traumatic history, Wilson could use a patient human who is open to working on socializing with people and building trust. Take a chance on him and you won't regret it! If you see me online I am still available for adoption! If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application here: www.hitlivingfoundation.org/adoption-application, and email a video walkthrough of your home and yard to adoptions@hitlivingfoundation.org. Your application will not be counted as valid without your video. You will hear back from us within a few days.

Story
Hello - My name is Benson, but you can call me Benni! I am a very loving half corgi half deer chihuahua. I'm 9.5 years young and have been well cared for throughout my life. I would be the perfect pet for the right human. I really am an amazing dog; I'm loving, cuddly, fun, active, and very healthy. I can play fetch all day if you have the arm to keep up with me. I love playing in water (it's my favorite thing), the beach, running fast, eating, and sleeping. I'm GREAT in the car, including long drives. For the last 9 years I have been an adventure dog, going on road trips to see some of the beauty this side of the U.S. has to offer. I am fixed and chipped, potty trained, I know basic commands and have been on a raw food diet my whole life and have had pet insurance so no medical issues were ever ignored. I did have to have surgery on both my knees, but now I'm good to go! I have a hard time with other dogs and kids, so I need a lot of structure and attention, and it's probably best if I'm the only animal in the household. I have done years of training and rehabilitation, but unfortunately there is a baby in my home now and I'm not able to have the space I need to live a comfortable life. I can have some stress but with your help I'm willing to work on it. I AM CURRENTLY LIVING IN THE FRESNO AREA.    Interested in meeting Benni please contact Marja Rosette at 310-803-0310 or MarjaRosette@gmail.com          These dogs are looking for homes through private parties in the Los Angeles CA area. Story
**COURTESY POST** We are looking for a dedicated and committed foster home or better yet....a forever home for this sweet boy! Shorty is a 3/4 yr old, male, Shetland Sheepdog mix who needs our help. He was found deserted and dumped in the desert, but thankfully a wonderful person got him to safety. He is now in boarding and we would like to get him out and into a home setting to decompress and acclimate. Shorty is a great dog that gets along with other dogs wonderfully. The boarding facility does say that he needs time to warm up to people before he feels safe and secure which is totally understandable after all he's been through. We are looking for a dog savvy, patient, kind, and loving home for him that will give him that time and space he needs to decompress. A home with a yard would be amazing along with owners that are not gone long hours during the day. Shorty is one special and might we add...very stunning dog that deserves and equally special home. Shorty is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Please contact us for more info at: Gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020
