Story
Meet Hoji l! She is the sweetest girll! She is a 2 year old that was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Hoji and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app May 14, 2026, 5:48 pm

Story
Meet Mochi!  She is a 6 year old that was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea. Chocomi and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Mochi was brought over from Korea 3 years ago and was quickly adopted out.  Devastatingly for Mochi, her family has had a new baby and now can no longer keep her.  Here is a biography of things they have said about her.   Mochi is an outgoing goofball of a dog who loves to go out on adventures and explore. Don't let her photos fool you, she looks big in photos but she is 22 lbs. She has spent the last three years in a loving home, but is unfortunately not well suited for living with infants due to a sleep-startle reflex from her traumatic history.  Also if she is eating she wants to be left alone.   She is house-trained, knows her basic commands, will heel when on walks, and tends to be easy to train due to being food motivated.     While we don't know the exact details of her past, we suspect based on behavior that she did not get the best start in life and was used for breeding, was beaten, and had her puppies taken away at a young age. She is still learning how to play with toys and tends to take cues from other dogs.   it is better if she is in a home with other confident dogs to show her the ropes.   Mochi's favorite thing is getting in the car to head off to a new place to explore, she loves hikes, and is excited to see other dogs.. At home she is independent and often spends long periods of time outside on the lookout for squirrels and lizards that threaten the backyard. Once she knows you and loves you she will get in cuddly moods and lean against you for support and love.    Mochi does well with routine, and prefers daily activity and free access to the backyard.    If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app March 10, 2026, 8:30 pm

Story
Meet Billy   Age: 7 years Sex: Neutered male Breed: Welsh Corgi mix Color: Brown/White Weight: 15 kg Height (shoulder): 34 cm   Rescue Story: Billy was rescued from a municipal shelter in October 2025.   With People Billy is very affectionate and friendly. He approaches both familiar and new people with ease, enjoys being petted, and will happily lean in for attention. He loves both men and women. While he enjoys affection, he is not overly clingy and is also comfortable relaxing independently. Once he bonds, he will show his belly and enjoys being picked up.   With Other Dogs Billy greets new dogs politely with a sniff but is not interested in playing. He generally prefers doing his own thing—walking around, doing his business, and resting. He avoids conflict even if another dog provokes him and tends to feel uncomfortable around high-energy dogs.   With Cats Not yet tested, but can be arranged upon request.   Energy Level Low energy. Billy enjoys resting most of the time but gets excited and happy when it’s time for a walk.   ‍ Walks He has good leash manners and walks calmly without pulling. He especially enjoys sniffing during walks.   Additional Notes No food guarding toward people or other dogs No separation anxiety Occasionally barks to communicate when he wants something Calm and well-behaved in a kennel Currently does outdoor potty only Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram! Story
Look no further - we've found the Best Burrito in LA! Our handsome and sweet boy Burrito was rescued (with his four babies - Ceviche, Salsa, Enchilada and Taquito) from horrible neglect and physical abuse. He spent the first 6 or 7 year of his life chained up outside of a factory in South Korea where he spent his days in fear of his abusers. But he is safe now and thriving! As soon as we rescued Burrito, we took him to the vet where he was treated for heartworm, and he's now a healthy and happy little hunk. He recently took his freedom flight from Korea to LA and is loving life in his first ever foster home. Despite his past, Burrito is a super low-maintenance and chill dude! He loves to relax in the house, hang on the porch and watch the world go by, and get all the treats and love. Whoever adopts this low-riding dude is going to be so lucky! Apply to adopt this papa pup today! **We have adopted many dogs to out-of-area, state, and even international homes! We usually require that the approved applicants come to meet their new dog in Los Angeles and transport them home. Most of our out of area families make a fun road trip of it!
